AFC PLayoffs: Steelers Vs Colts

Manning is just terrible in the playoffs.

Yup, overthrew a bunch of passes, tossed a couple into the ground to. Some of those decision were real suspect, but one crazy one worked out. Seemed to lock on to recievers and Steelers jumped routs.

Manning still has over 200 yards with all this pressure, 200 yards for Carr would be a career day...
Manning only made his throws when he wasn't under pressure, and the Colts don't run the same anemic gameplan the Texans did.

Anybody just catch P. Manning on Fox, he was boo-hoowin and blaming
his OL for breakdowns in protection. Dang, I think he and Gary Walker would
make good teammates, or atleast they'd deserve each other with those
kind of remarks.

You mean Dan Marino Jr. Always yelling at anyone but yourself.

I'd love to be sitting next to Carr and here what Carr would have to say after hearing Manning :spy:

I always wondered about this and it always seemed weird

in the 1st half colts on about the 1 yard line. they false start moved them back to the 6 ..then steelers jumped.. moved 1/2 the distance to the goal and put them at the 3

I know this has always been the case the 1/2 the distance.. I wondered why the rule came about (1/2 the distance) instead of just putting it on the goal line if the penalty is more than the distance to the endzone

just one of those things that doesn't seem right in my eyes

The Steelers played an impressive game and I look forward to watching them play Denver next week. This year's playoff games have definitely not been disappointing, they have all been good games and most all of the teams have shown why they belong in the playoffs.

When does Walker go around blaming others for his problems? Walker is a fired up competitor, not a whiner.
I dunno...I'm just disappointed in Walker for lobbying the Texans to draft a
replacement for Carr. In a sense that's pointing a finger at an individual for
the failure of the team, calling for his removal. That's just classless and definitely not helpful for team morale. If that's how he feels, thats one thing but shut up about it. Definitely don't got public with it.

It would have been a great game if the zebras weren't so obviously bound and determined to make the Colts win that game. The Steelers definately deserved that win.

The Steelers did deserve the win more than the Colts. But I wonder, if
anything, what the final analysis will determine the Colts loss should be attributed to besides a strong Steeler game ? The drop off in effort after the Colts clinched home-field ? The tragedy surrounding the loss of the HCs teenage son ? Maybe it is the Steelers more than anything else: maybe they've figured out how to slow down the juggernaut Colts offense like no body else has ? Kinda like teams began to understand how to play better against Moon and the Oilers and their Run & Shoot back in the early 90s.

Wow!!! What a great game.

I still cannot believe that the Colts choked even with all the help they got from the refs. Overturning that interception by Troy P. was one of the worst calls made this season.

Manning and Dungy choked once again and I loved every minute of it.

Dungy is a great man and doesn't deserve to be called a choker - particularly after what he has been through over the past month.

Manning is a different story though IMHO.

I feel very badly for Coach Dungy. He, from all I've heard and read, is a fine gentleman. Much like Coach Capers. But he's human and failure is something that happens to even the best.

I don't get the Peyton hate really other than he's on a rival team. He seems like an upstanding guy and I don't recollect him ever saying much that was out of line.

He had a bad game today. He rarely has those. I wish that both the teams I like had him as QB.....

Amazing game, particularly the ending. I still have trouble wrapping my head around the play when Bettis fumbled the ball. I mean, the Bus almost never fumbles, but he did right there on the goalline and nearly gave up a TD and the game, just when they had the whole thing in hand. But then Big Ben of all people chased down Harper and saved the game. And then the missed kick on top of that. That was some crazy-go-nuts kind of finish.

I actually feel kind of bad for the Colts though, because I don't see how they're ever going to get a better team than this. This was "their year," and they didn't get it done. If not this year, maybe it means Peyton will never win it all.

Agreed. He had no interceptions or fumbles and put his team in a position to lead or extend the game. He was sacked five times, but found the moxie to still guide them to 15 4th quarter points. Overcoming adevrsty to me is part of the definiton of a good leader.

I was just mentally going over the Colts game and it was an odd one because the Colts had a very good chance to win that game even though they were outplayed.

They had a TD called back on a false start and I think ended up just getting a FG.

They had a wacky fumble recovery returned where the QB gets a fingernail on the DB and he's tackled...I exaggerate but Ben was running in front of the guy and had to twist his body in an odd way to even touch the guy.

The Colts reliable FG kicker misses a very makeable FG for him.

It was just weird the way that game played out.

I think there is just an odd arrogance with Manning that really annoys some of us -- add in all the Manning media hype and you have a sure-fire formula for piling on after a poor performance.

I do get your drift. Arrogance and confidence can be easily confused to the outsider trying to look in.

After several years of hearing Manning in various interviews an 'outsider' can get a good feel of someone's motivations -- certainly with Manning it's more than just confidence IMHO.

No interceptions? What game were you watching? Just because the refs didn't call it doesn't mean it didn't happen. He was intercepted and without that bad call on the int, it's doubtful the colts would have had those 15 points. To have a call go like that just had to take the wind out of the steelers sails, it's hard to get over something like that.

without the interference from the refs I fully believe the colts would have had at least one less TD and the steelers on more TD.

All that being said, I like Manning and I like the Colts. They had a great year and did overcome adversity but in this game, the steelers outplayed them on both sides of the ball and won despite the refs doing every thing possible to keep that from happening.

RZ the official record clearly states no interceptions. I saw the ref call it as such and the Colts drove and scored. That was the game I watched. You watched the same game, although maybe hoping for some revisionist history.

And you know the official record is bogus, millions of peope saw that interception. Crooked officiating can put lies in the record but they can't change the fact of what happened. The Steelers not only had to defeat the Colts last Sunday, they had to defeat the Officials as well.

The NFL said the referee made a mistake: Troy Polamalu caught the ball. The league acknowledged Monday that referee Pete Morelli erred when he overturned on replay Polamalu's interception of a Peyton Manning pass Sunday in the playoff game between Pittsburgh and Indianapolis.

Mike Pereira, the league's vice president of officiating, said in a statement that Morelli should have let the call on the field stand.

"He maintained possession long enough to establish a catch," Pereira said. "Therefore, the replay review should have upheld the call on the field that it was a catch and fumble."

You are not turning conspiracy theorist on me? :) The record clearly shows no Int.

Records show many things but not always the truth, however the truth is out there.....................:spy:
