houstonprofootball.com has an article about bradford not meeting incentives in his contract that allows us to add that money to our cap space!!! Finally bradford does something good for this team!!!:superman:

we can definitely use that money to throw around at and lure in some FA's...by wish is still bentley but im not sure on how he would fit into kubiaks scheme of things....can anyone enlighten us on that one??

What are some of the things this scheme is going to require? which players on this team are likely to stay or fit into this scheme? and finally what attractice FA's out there would fit into his scheme???
 
I think we should make an effort to keep bradford once our key re-signings and FA signings are done. He would be good depth for us.
 
I think Bradford is a track guy trying to play football .... Sure he's fast but that does no good if you cant find a seam in the zone or catch the ball ..... he has possibly the worst hands Ive ever seen for a WR .... I like the un-employment line for him . :stirpot:

Youre right, but which other player should catch the ball, a 4th round rookie?? or should we get an fa receiver?? I think Corey stays for 1 year more...

If that 4th round rookie is a better reciever then yes , he should see the field instead ....I really think that they MUST upgrade the #2 WR position before this offense can be productive .

Remember that Bradford was a FA last season and NO TEAM offered him a contract . To me that says he isnt good enough to ride the pine for many a team in the league .... If thats the case why should he be the #2 here ? Because he's fast ? .... Fast doesnt matter if you cant utilize it .

I was at one time a Bradford supporter ..... I just dont think he's worth the roster spot now considering his contributions . The contract money and roster spot would be better served on a project with potential than what he can give . :twocents:

Right, but I don´t think there would be a rookie to put him on the #2, and Mathis is not a #2, just a returner... that means there´s only 2 receivers... Andre Johnson and the RB Domanick Davis... So we had to trade in my opinion... Trade Carr and let´s get a receiver for the #2 and a pick for next year..
 
I guarantee you that Mathis is at least a better #2 than Bradford. Bradford is the worst receiver on this team and we've cut rookies that were better receivers than him. Mathis, Armstrong, Gaffney--they're all better than him to varying degrees. I say we cut him because replacing him as our last resort receiver should be really easy.

LeCharles has been a productive and steadily improving pro, but he is quite a bit bigger than Denvers average O-linemen, who need to be nimble enough to get to the second level on those stretch plays. I haven't seen the Saints much, but I think they utilize more man blocking than zone. The guy Kubiak would want at center is still in college at Minnesota, name is Eslinger, looks to be like another Kevin Mawae...
 
doesnt bradford owe US money....i mean, if his contract was incentive based........surely we deserve a refund
 
Reggie Wayne or Moulds as our number 2 would be great. I know people will say we can't afford either one, but it would be great if we could find a way.
 
Look for Reggie Wayne to wind up in Philly and Eric Moulds I have no clue due to his age. They would both be nice additions, but they will also cost a good deal. Moulds obviously would be cheaper, but he has been productive most of his career. I think Mathis and Gaff can man the #2 and 3 receiver spot and a rookie or Armstrong would be a solid 4. The rookie I would like to see would be a fast guy not as fast as mathis, but close to Johnson with decent hands. Only place we are going to find him though is at a small school.
 
I heard them mention on 610 am that Bradford's nickname when he was with the Packers was "50/50". Those were the odds that he would catch a given pass thrown his direction.
 
Favre always said it was like throwing to the Keystone Cops when Bradford was on the field. Never knew where he would be or if he might catch it or not.

That is hilarious if they really called him that, it wouldn't surprise me seeing him perform the last few years.

I don't think he's the only player not to reach incentives after this abysmal season. There's probably some more money floating around somwhere.

I am rooting for a Moulds signing.

He could provided AJ with a veteran to learn from while he burned out the last 2 or 3 years of his career.

I would LOVE this lineup:
Carr lines up behind center (Mangold taken with the first pick in the 4th round) who is flanked by (Pitts, Lutui#65 or we deal 65 and 66 to move up and get him, C, McKinney, Wade - yeah I would rather replace McKiiney and Wade also but it takes time). The TE, Pope#33, is lined up to the right of Wade. AJ and Moulds are lined up to the left and Bush is lined up behind the FB in the backfield.
Running right, or putting Bush in motion to the right, would be a threat - once he got outside it would be a td. Throwing left or over the middle is a threat - so the safetys play to the right or AJ will take the sideline and it is over.

Anyway, back to Moulds. He is a solid threat and can teach AJ, Gaffney and Mathis. I think he would come cheaper than Wayne/Owens and younger WRS. Plus, he has great hands. If we can get him at a reasonable price, then get him.
If not, Bryant Johnson (17th pick by AZ in 2003) could be had at a reasonable price. AZ has 2 stud WRs, Fitz and Bold. Paying for a 3rd WR on that team seems doubtful and they have other holes.

Trade Option: I would offer up DD (if the team is willing to take the cap hit) or Buchy, both would fill holes for AZ (DT, FS, MLB, CB, TE, OL, RB, QB).

OR we could do the Hershel, but with junk players: DT=Payne/Robaire, FS=MColeman, MLB=Greenwood (or Evans), CB=Buchy, TE=Rivers, OL=McKinney/Wade/Weigert, RB=Hollings/DD. Maybe we get Johnson and their extra 3rd rounder for that package(of course with the cap hits for Wade/DD/Greenwood we would not be able to sign any free agents to speak of).

Your right Eslinger appears to be a monster at center, and I have been watching him for the past 2 seasons...only question is where is he going to go in the draft and what would it take to get back in the game and get him??

Side note: some mock drafts had eslinger going early 2nd round....somewhere around the 37-40th pick...would he be worth our #2 or would it be better to package something to get back into the 2nd round if that is where he is projected to go????

I'm sorry, but I don't understand this line of thinking--why keep players on the roster who, for whatever reason, do not get desired results? Bradford is not a newbie that is learning the pro ranks, nor has he been a Caper's project learning an entirely new position. Last year, this team had too many under performers and players in new positions. It's hard enough to win in the NFL as it is without having a direct 'pipeline' to failure. This team will only start winning when everyone is held accountable for their results on the field. It makes absolutely no sense to tie up a roster spot, let alone a starting spot, with players that do not produce. Finally, everyone in the NFL knows Bradford is not starting material, so what is he going to do to be 'good depth.":brickwall

Molds is an option, but I still feel he would not be worth his contract. The FA reciever I want us to persue is Charles Rogers. If he stays healty, he has AJ's talent. If he doesnt stay healthy, his contract isn't going to hurt us.

Bently is an option, in fact my first OL FA option, but some undersized OG types will be available in the latter rounds. They need to be able to pull efectivly, have a mean streak, and hold up in pass protection.

Luiti will be the top OG from the draft IMHO, but he is not right for our system. He is a mamoth.
