Where did you hear the part about Portis wanting to go back to Kubiak?? link??

nah, no link, one of my best friends who knows everything about everything when it comes to football told me, that there was an interview inwhich it was mentioned...sorry, no link :(

At first blush, I thought this was dung, but Kieth over on HPF has some reasoning on it and it MAY actually have some legs.

Portis just signed a huge contract a few years ago. I can't see Washington taking a big cap hit to get rid of him. Especially with Joe Gibbs' heavy run offense.

They need to have some money to sign huge free agents to complex contracts. Taking a big cap hit would prevent that from happening.

Why not trade Clinton Portis for our 8th round pick? It would be a wise choice in my opinion as long as he passes the physical test thingie. we could drop Dominick and trade Wali for an offensive lineman.

Welcome to the board, but the draft only consists of 7 rounds.

They're getting ready to dump Adam Archuleta, one of their top free agent signings, only a year after signing him. I'm sure they could get rid of Portis as well.

This is a reason why they will not cut Portis. They only have a year or two more out of Joe Gibbs and they don't want to rebuild with him at the helm.

Cut? No way in hell. If they trade Portis, they won't be too bad with Betts as the starter and could benefit from extra draft picks.

I've been hearing it from alot of my friends that aren't Texan fans and the first thing they say is that it could be true because Betts got a big contract.

I want Portis. People say he isn't good for the locker room but I believe being with Kubes will fix that quick and it will also give us a guy that can light a fire in our offense.

To be honest all you have to do is look at our game against the Skins to find out why we should get this guy if we can.

i know look at this offense
QB-Kevin Kolb (3rd rounder) i hope
RB-Portis
FB-#44/Jameel Cook
WR-Johnson
WR-Moulds
TE-Daniels
LT-Spencer
LG-Pitts
C-Flanagan/McKinney
RG-Steinbach (via free agency:from bengals)
RT-Winston

i say that woud be a solid line and some pretty impressive talent at the skill positions

I'd take Portis in a heart beat on this team. We should have drafted him to begin with. In Denver's Offense he was a 1500 yard back, now those are rushing stats. Locker room problem? Since when? I've seen most to all of his post game and after practice interviews (being in 'Skins country and all) and he is a fun easy going guy. The guy has yet to have any problems outside of football. Money and compensation would be the only problems. Left Denver because they didnt want to pay him his due value and of course Skins would want fair compensation (1st and/or 2nd round pick).

Okay so we get Portis and Dom has to show if he can be a third down back. I can go with that, if Portis gets injured, Lundy and Taylor and Dayne have shown they can make it happen also.
