A&M vs Texas

As a big UT fans, I want to congratulate the Aggies on a big win, and thank them for whipping the horns. I am really getting tired of see the uninspired football the horns are playing lately. Saying that it was still a great win for the Aggies.

Also, since I am lazy and don't want to look it up, is Coach Fran going to coach the bowl game?

I agree... they seemed uninspired, especially on defense. You guys definitely have us outmatched based on talent, but the Spirit of Aggieland is unmatched.

Not sure if Fran will coach the bowl game, that is an excellent question.

That is what is so frustrating, as big as this rivalry is, no team should ever be uninspired.

Dammit...I hate you Mack Brown/Greg Davis. These two are piss poor coaches. The only reason for the success Texas has under them is recruiting. They have enough talent to win 9-10 games every year, but suck at coaching overall. Because of this we are probably stuck with them.

Don't complain. You could have bad offensive coaching for a really long time like Florida State and start to lose your recruiting advantage, like Florida State. It will change when the recruits simply quit going there.

It's better than watching your uninspired Florida State team play. And watch Drew Weatherford do his best David Carr impression and try not to F things up.

I just don't understand this knee jerk stuff. They Lost Sweed, the OLT and the starting center. Replacing a couple of high draft picks in the secondary at the very start of the season...I mean I get it. Db's and linebackers didn't progress like their press said they should of progressed. A & M just exposed the warts that have been killing them all season is what I saw. Mack Brown is ranked in the top five or six as far as winning seasons among active coaches go. Mack Brown isn't going anywhere. The aggies get to dance on us this off season. Take it like a man. They for sure earned it.

Kudos to you, TTP. It is uncommon and refreshing to see such from a UT alum. (I assume you are a UT alum.)

When I was in undergrad, A&M had something like a 6-game win streak against UT. And not one of my UT friends would ever give my maroon and white a whit of credit. In fact, it was usually, "Why do you guys care about beating us so much? You know it's one-sided, don't you? We only care about beating OU." These were/are the same guys (and yes, gals) who would not shut up about whippin A&M's toockus for several years straight. I just smiled and took it.

Anyway, I'm happy for the Ags. My nephew is there now, a freshman. He went to the game, and I saw him Thanksgiving day. He was geeked about the upcoming game.

Oh...

And my boss' boss gets to wear an A&M Athletic Dept shirt to work on Monday. He is most definitely a UT alum. :)

A&M. UT. Whatever. For purposes of this forum, :fans:

All the best,
Rick

FWIW, I heard on 1530AM Austin that Fran will not coach the bowl game. And since I am lazy, I did not look for a second source to confirm. :specnatz:

I went from going to the game, to settling to having to watch it in a bar on 6th, to having to watch it at my step mom's house, to not even getting to see it at all.

Due to a family obligation I ended up spending the afternoon at an Outlet Mall resorting to using my mobile phone to monitor the score.

Congrats to A&M. I am not a "hater" of A&M and it's good for the rivalry for them to win a couple of these games now and then. I would have liked to have seen the game though despite the loss.

Dude that seriously sucks. You having the passion is what fandom is all about and do not let anyone say differently. I have had a horrible year with Notre dame and I still wear my hats and polos to work and that will never change. Well hope you at least get a chance to see them in what ever bowl game they play. I watched the game yesterday and actually was wondering how you were doing while at the game.

Coach Fran will not coach the bowl game. According to the Chronic, the Defensive Coordinator, Darnell (sp?) will coach the game. The article said all the other asst. coaches are still under contract unless they get hired by another school or A&M hires another coach and he releases them. Either scenario would probably only take place after the bowl games are played. Here is the a part of that article:

Assistants step up
Unless the current A&M coaches land jobs before the bowl season, they are contractually obligated to remain in place until a new coach comes aboard and appoints a staff.

In addition to bowl preparation, they will continue to keep the recruits abreast of what's going on.

I was wondering where you were. I had two tickets for you.

I missed the game because I am currently working in Mississippi, But I spoke with my old roomate from there and he said it was the loudest he had heard it there since we beat #1 Oklahoma in 2002.

Two years in a row I have missed the TU game due to work. Its killing me.

The 1986 game against Baylor. That was the loudest I ever heard that place. I'm sure the data will support there being louder games since, especially since the addition to the North End of Kyle Field, but the memories of that game make my ears ring even now.

For all those parents who would dismiss Aggieland out of hand, please reconsider. There is something about going to college there. It's difficult to explain. I mean, look at me, I'm almost 40 years old and I am still talking about 1 football game 21 years ago.

Wow. That was 21 years ago. Man, I'm older than I feel. :)

The Zone made a huge diffrence in sound. Your Baylor game was like my Oklahoma game.

There was some major partying going on at Northgate that night.

If you EVER have any extra tickets Aj, let me know! I'm trying to convience Shadow he needs to become an Aggie. What better way than to take him to a Aggie football game. I have SWEET memories of Aggie football back in the day! :)

Two years in a row CLTEXAN has missed the game AND two years in a row A&M wins.........?? :hmmm:

Suffice to say, CLTEXAN fan can no longer watch the game....... ever!!!

Dont for a second think that I havent noticed that, we lose 7 in a row and I miss a couple and look what happens.

We never beat them when I went there 01-05...Thanks VY

I really dont know what to do next year.

I was at the game and I must say that it was simply amazing. We squeezed 88,000+ into Kyle tonight, it was a record. The place was loud as hell and even though it was 42 degrees, I wasn't cold at all.

Great game by the Ags offensively. McGee made a few dumb throws, but oh well. They managed to score through the passing game repeatedly, and Texas didn't have an answer for it. It is almost as if they were in denial about how powerful our passing attack was (I sure was).

Defensively I have complaints about the late game. The first half was flawless, except for one huge catch and run by Charles. The later playcalling almost allowed Texas to come back on us. In spite of ourselves, we managed to hold them off.

All in all it was a great game and I expect to see it on ESPN Classic at some point. I knew the Ags had what it took to show up the Horns again. There's a Spirit can ne'er be told....

I was at the game also and I must admit (as a UT fan) that the atmosphere was amazing. I was forced to sit in the freshman student section & I definitely have a few complaints about some of the classless fans I had the misfortune of meeting.

I did get to sit at the 50 yd line & witness a great game tho, and the A&M fans as a whole were great. You guys REALLY care about beating UT & I just wish our team could come into a game the way the Ags did that one.

Congrats on the victory. A&M had a perfect gameplan & executed it to near perfection.

The problem with the Longhorns, besides needing better defensive coaching at the LBs & DBs, is that the team has no character.

When VY was the guy, he gave that team a certain attitude & they just dont have it without him. I think Jamaal Charles can be that guy next year, but UT walked into Kyle Field thinking they had already won the game and they got outplayed, outcoached, & the Ags just straight beat them up.

Sorry you had a bad experience. It is the exception, not the rule. Freshmen will be freshmen. Sorry, nonetheless.

All the best,

Like RickyB said Fish will be Fish, None the less I am glad you got to experience a big game at Kyle Field, there really is nothing like it.

And as for VY, I am just glad he is gone.

I would also like to apologize for an classless fans, A&M usually has a reputation for being good hosts.

I am curious, when I went there (granted it was a million years ago), the student section was reserved for students. Students entered through a separate gate and had to show their student id. Has that changed?

No, it hasn't changed.... but you can purchase a guest pass for someone to sit in the student section.

lol. No, I wasnt that guy.

I was just wearin jeans & a UT hoodie.

Ok, haha. Just curious because that foam hand was huge. I thought it was kinda funny. I need to find a maroon one for when I go to Austin.

I can't take this Aggie and T'sip love anymore... Y'all are killing me!!! Saw 'em off!!!

:jk:

This was more how my sister and I were. We got after it when needed but at the end of the day......

I'm a little late to this party, but congrats to the Aggies. You guys deserve it.

The Longhorns deserve some real coordinators.

Gotta admit that I didn't feel too bad for Kellen Heard when he got his bell rung.

Yea, I doubt many sips felt bad about that one, but that's the way it goes in this game.

Texas played tough late, when they finally realized that they were down by three scores with 12 minutes remaining. They have a lot of talent and they showed it. Like you said, if they had a coaching staff as talented as their players, they would likely be in the national spotlight again.

Us Ags, on the other hand, have a lot of work to do. We lack talent in key positions and we are getting a whole new coaching staff. I knew that the Ags could beat the Horns at home, but going back to Austin and getting three in a row next year will be very hard.

Keep hope alive Lucky, we have weapons on offense for Sherman and we have the 11th ranked recruiting class in the nation coming in.
