Well I thought this should be a good view as to where we could be headed. I tried to use credible coaching changes because I think Coach Kubiak is a credible coach. This is just for small talk I hope you enjoy it.

2001-2002-2003 Carolina Panthers 1-15 to 7-9 Coaching change form George Seifert to Johon Fox
2002-2003 Cincinati. Bengals 2-14 to 8-8 Coaching Change from Dick LeBeau of Marvin Lewis
1996-1997 NY Jets 1-16 to 9-7 Coaching Change from Rich Kotite to Bill Parcells
1994-1995 Houston Oilers 2-14 to 7-9 Coaching Change from Jack Pardee to Jeff Fisher
1997-1998 Oakland Raiders 4-12 to 8-8 Coaching change from Joe Bugel to John Gruden
1999-2000 N.O. Saints 3-13 to 10-6 Coaching Change from Mike Ditka to Jim Haslet
2002-2003 Dallas Cowboys 5-11 to 10-6 Coaching Change from Dave Campo to Bill Parcells

2005-2006 Houston Texans 2-14 to ???? Coaching change from Don Capers to Gary Kubiak!
 
u havent been here that long, but i love all of ur posts. u always seem to have somme food for thought that is useful. u do good research. i hope that trend (with the coaching changes) holds true. i think it will.
 
u should post that on the NFL General forum and ask the question "Which coaching change made the biggest impact based on the talent level of the team before the change?" Another words, which new head coach's job was toughest given the situation they were getting in?
 
All but one of those changes were in the past ten years. The NFL has done a lot to make that possible. There is a very good chance the Texans could do it this year. Coaching is more important now than ever before (not to say it was negligible before).

well coaching means alot because every coach brings in their own system. when u pull a dom capers and preach a 3-4 system to a bunch of guys that played 4-3 in college....its tough. even funnier is the fact that our offense the past 2 seasons under capers tried to run a resemblance of the zone blocking scheme. i dont know how much credibility capers, palmer, and pendry had on running a zone blocking scheme, but now kubiak is here, and he has certain credibility to bring the system in to houston because he was pretty much the mastermind behind it all in denver for many yrs.
 
Plus two of those went to the SuperBowl with that team and the coach was previously a coordinator before becoming a head coach. John Fox and Jeff Fisher.
 
Coaching and scheme mean so much more now than it did 10-15 years ago is that the talent level of teams is almost the same acrosse the league. Players and coaches all talk about how equal everything is, so the coaches that have the best program, scheme and staffs tend to do the best.
