The $10M+ they’re trying to throw at the CB should go to Reader. He’s earned it.
What CB are they throwing 10 mil at?
Harris or Slay I could get on board with.
Both Roby, or his replacement, and Hargreaves 5yo will run that much.
Memories of Bouye.not thrilled with the list honestly, but what really made me choke up was the next article about how the Titans would swoop in to nab DJ if we let him walk. Imagine that.
They're going to let him walk and draft/sign somebody in fa.
Is that what they told you?
After listening to BOB talk about the Texans FA's do you honestly think they're going to bring Reader back at 12 + mil per yr?
If there are a bunch of teams interested in him I don’t understand why they wouldn’t tag and trade him to get an extra pick or 2
So we pick and choose when to listen and believe in what O’Brien says huh.
I heard his tag value is like 15 mil, which is probably more than what he'd get in the open market.
Reader is going to want big money to stay in Houston.....some are saying DE money at his DT position. Maybe he's just pricing his services out of the Texans range.
I'd let him walk b/c I think the Texans could get 2 better answers for the DL for what could be the price of one Reader. I'd sign DE, Robert Quinn (29 years old) to a nice contract. Sportrac has his value at roughly 11.8M annually. This is a livable deal. I'd sign DT, Ndamukong Suh (33 years old) to a 2 year deal. Sportrac hasn't included a Market Value at this time but I think a 2 year deal at 8 to 8.5M annually probably lands him.
So give me a front that features Quinn, Suh, Watt and I’ll take that front for 2020 and 2021.
i believe people are counting on Watt much more than they should this season.
I dunno what would Reader fetch in a deal like that, more than a third round pick ?I was thinking they’d tag Reader, trade him to another team for a pick and that team could sign him to whatever deal they want. If I’m not mistaken that’s what the Raiders did with Mack

Multiple reports have Denver as the front runner for signing Reader. All saying he will command between 10-12 million annually.I was thinking a low 2nd to a third. I’ve seen/heard that Tenn, Den and Sea are interested.

Except those two players prices that you cited would be way, way higher than the price of one Reader.
Reader - 53/4 - 13.25 million per year
Quinn - 11.8 million, Suh - 8.5 million - 20.3 million per year
And then there's the tiny detail of Quinn by himself was more expensive than Reader anyways (5 years 70 million with Chicago, 14 million per year)
Plus Suh sucks now anyways, which is why he's a FA and cheap.
So what were you even talking about with this nonsense? Maybe change your handle to CluelessTexan.
Bengals D.J. Reader expresses his gratitude towards the Texans and city of Houston
2 hours ago
The Houston Texans lost one of their homegrown defenders in nose tackle D.J. Reader to the Cincinnati Bengals when free agency officially opened. Both the Bengals and Denver Broncos were pushing for the services of Reader before signing with the Bengals.
Reader landed a four-year deal worth $53 million, paying him an average of $13.25 million on year, which was out of both the Broncos and Texans budget for the coming seasons.
With the exit of Reader, he took to Instagram to thank the Texans for drafting him and the city of Houston for four great seasons.
"I want to start by saying thank you to the Houston Texans organization and everyone who has supported me in the Houston community," Reader said in his post. "This city has given me so much from opportunities, life lessons, and friends. While being here, I've been able to grow as a player and as a man. I never thought anything close to this was ever possible, and I am forever grateful. I will always have love for you Houston! Now I'm ready to begin the next chapter of my life.. #WhoDey"
Another disgruntled former Texan.
Man he hates BOB.
Negative. They gave up 163 rushing yards per game after the bye last season with Reader. What happened to our run D this season?
No DJ Reader.

As with most things, it's usually several reasons. Losing DJ Reader is one reason, but not the only reason.
The other big reason no one is really talking about is the poor tackling by the secondary. We were spoiled when we had corners like JJo and KJax (even KJo when he played). Those are three corners that are extremely good at tackling. Roby, Conley, Gaines, Hargraeves are horrible!
Whatever the reason(s), just pointing out that having DJ didn’t make much difference.

I think Mercilus decline and the loss of Clowney on the other side are contributing factors , then there's McKinney being out for most of the year. He's a total liability in pass defense but a really good run plugging ILB.
Take Reader away too and you have a recipe for what we saw ....

That was coming anyway. It’s practically criminal the way we’ve addressed the defense since Rick Smith left.I think it did make a difference. We went from bad to a joke.

I would also put Blackson in there. I have no clue why the Texans cut him? If they wanted the cap space, I would have went with letting Dunn go instead. And Jacob Martin is a liability against the run.

I remember saying players play. Coaches & players play to win. No way you can get a whole team to tank to draft a QB or whatever.
I was told it’s not the players who tank, but the front office that puts them in a bad position to win.
But what reason would we have to tank?
Yep adding Reid/Roby/L.Jo/Hargreaves/Murray/J.Reid

Ohmenihu/Dunn/Hall/Blacklock
If they would've only invested more. LMAO
The problem wasn't investment. It was scouting and developing talent.
A top 3 pick in the 3rd round ?!

Getting Hargreaves & Hall after they were cut isn't exactly called "investing". That's called desperation.
