2nd round

Wolf

100% Texan
Coleman.. I have no problem with except he is getting long in the tooth and D-rob seems to have taken the vocal leadership role.. and McKinney..well I'll leave that alone.

Would/Could this be Colemans replacement?

32. Michael Huff, FS, Texas: A rangy safety who has started for three years. Huff is a big hitter, but he's good in coverage.

or McKinney's replacement?

26. Mike Degory, C, Florida: He's the best center in the country, a player adept at blocking for the run and the pass.

I seriously doubt we would go 2 rookies at OL but this is the Texans (assuming LT is our 1st round pick)

i would prefer at this current point to select slay from TT, or possible jason allen from tenn. or bing from usc if he fell all over huff.

degory is not the best center in the draft and wont go in the second round. look for the late 3rd to mid 4th more realisticly as far as im concerned.

jason allen from tenn. has a dislocated hip so he might stay for another year if he can. With the second pick I would also go with Carpenter or the best pass rusher left.

Center outof Minnestoa is the best center in the draft and he will probally be a high second rounder so Id go for him. But I do have a question, how far do you think Dominique Byrd, TE from USC will fall, or Leonard Pope from Georgia. I think they are great pro prospect and we may pick one in the 2nd, but we could risk it and take another o-lineman in the 2nd and wait and see if one falls to the third.

But what if we have two 2nd round picks, if we trade down to a team looking for Matt Leinart and get an extra 2nd, we could get Greg Elsinger Minn. OC/Max Gean-Miles Georgia OG with our 2a and get Pope/Byrd with our 2b, or go for a DB with the 2b and hope one of the TEs fall.

hey buff, i feel byrd will fall until the late second and may slip until early 3rd. Pope should be there in the third also. This draft is very deep, just not on TE's but none of them are steller prospects.

if pope declares he will not last long...how many TE's are 6'7'' tall with solid speed...not many...but if i have a choice between a center, safty, tight end, or any other position after taking ferguson in the first i'll probably go for a TE like pope given our offensive problems

I just hope the Texans keep their 2nd rd pick and use it on the offensive line, we need to upgrade at multiple positions. even if the Texans take D'Brick or Winston with the 1st pick, I would take another tackle like Whitworth of LSU, he could play RT or one of the guard positions & who knows maybe beat out the others at LT?

Byrd becasue of his checkered past chalked full of injurys should last until the 3rd rd and the Texans have two 3rd rd picks so this would be the ideal place to spend one on a potential starting TE. when healthy he is late 1st rd talent.

If Pope is available in the 2nd and we don't take him, that would be one of the biggest mistakes this franchise has ever made...He is by far the most dynamic TE available in the draft, and let's face it, TE is probably our 2nd biggest hole on the team...The only way I wouldn't consider passing on him a mistake would be if there was a guy like Ahmad Brooks, Abdul Hodge, or Chad Greenway available, which aint gonna happen...

I haven't seen Leonard Pope play, but you have a good eye so tell us more what impresses you about him? does he remind you of Gates or another particular TE in the league?

as far as " biggest mistakes this franchise has ever made" lets not even get started on that one :dangit:

I'd liken Pope's game to Jason Witten's, though he appears to have a little more speed...Both have good hands and can get separation in traffic and both are good blockers, but Pope is two inches taller, therefore he can get to balls that Witten can't...If you're looking for a Gates-ish TE, you should hope for Marcedes Lewis, who has an unbelievable combination of size, speed, and hands, but he's a mediocre blocker...I'll admit, though, that I may have exagerrated a little with the "biggest mistake ever" bit...

Be honest with you I dont care WWWWWHO the 2nd round pick is as long as its a starting lineman.

No DB's. I can live with coleman one more year. What I can't live with is DC (the qb) looking like fresh meat to hungry lions every game. :texflag:
