2nd round who would we target?

If the stories are correct and no weird sign and trade goes on.. who do we target in 2nd round?
would we package some picks to move into the late 1st if it came down to someone slipping ?

I am hoping we go defense after that..

Dquell Jackson? Bing?

or do we get a TE or OL if say Lewis is there Scott?
 
If we stay put, I am still on board with Erik Winston if he is still on the board. Even though it would be really difficult for me to personally pass on Leonard Pope, TE from Georgia if he is there. Only thing I could see us moving up from the second back into the first is for Winston Justice or a good Corner.
 
i think the question the texans will have if eric winston falls is this...i know they like jonathan scott...they like him a lot...he will not fall out of round 2...but he isn't worth picking over eric winston...if they feel they can get him and add another pick later on in the draft i believe they will...if not they have to take winston...personally i think winston is the better OT but jonathan scott with good coaching will get a lot stronger in a year or two...i know he only did 17reps where as winston did 23 reps...but they both move really well...a lot of people believe scott will eventually turn into the better pro due to the fact that he has no prior serious injuries...i've heard a lot of people still have serious questions and doubts about winston's knee holding up...mcneill really doesn't fit kubiaks knew system although he is probably the best run blocker there is in this draft...colledge does fit the profile but for whatever reason the texans have never been mentioned as one of the teams scouting him...now andrew whitworth...physically has the tools i believe to play both tackle positions however he is better suited for the right side...if we did pass on drafting an OT in round 2 he would be our 1st pick in the 3rd round
 
1st choice: Eric Winston
2nd choice: Ko Simpson or one of the OLB that fall from the 1st round

in the 3rd round:
Jon Scott and/or Safety and/or D'quell Jackson/ Abdul Hodge if they are available
 
I understand that we need to fill OL. That been said. What if Winston is gone and good DB falls in the 2nd round? Should we still focus on OL?

When Kubiak was OC for the Denver, didn't they draft OL line in the 3rd to later rounds? This year's OL prospects are believed to be pretty deep according to so call NFL experts(correct me if I'm wrong on this). If this is the case, can't we draft OL in the 3rd round instead of 2nd round? I just don't think good DB would be available in the 3rd round. With first pick in the 2nd round, we should be able to draft very good DB prospect.

Assuming we are taking Bush:

I think we take BPA between O-line and DB. We are going to be improved this year, perhaps greatly, but I'm an optimistic sort.

Next year we fill in the gaps in what wasn't available this year because:
a) It takes more than one year to completely revamp a 2-14 team
b) We are going to be surprised that some players currently labeled as "busts" will show that they are good NFL talents.

Thanks for your comment, so I'm not the only one thinking about DB situation.
a)And you are right about revamp in the first yr and would take a few yrs to be a competive team.(but I think we will improve somewhat this yr to surprise other teams)
b)You are talking about OL right? I also think Sherman will improve our current OL.

I was thinking, should we go after Woodson?(if the price is right) This would solve somewhat of DB situation. In this way, we can focus a little more to OL and other positions like MLB,TE in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.
 
Why Winston? he's not really good, he just has the potential in his numbers but I have never seen anything to set him apart. From what I've seen of him, he has horribly slow feet for a LT, he lunges at opponents, he loses his man in run blocking, he gets lost in run blocking, not knowing where he's at,he does not have much agility which is mistaken by his sub-5 40 yard dash. If anything I would move back in the second round and try to pick up two seconds, of which i would take D'Quell Jackson/Roger McIntosh (whoever is available) and Daryn College, before Atlanta gets him.
 
Eric Winston first. If he's not there, possibly trade down and get more picks because there is no OL available worthy of a high pick after Winston. You could probably get Whitworth or O'Callagahan a little bit down. If they do decide to stay probably address the secondary more or POSSIBLY a rb if bush isn't taken, maybe addai or white if available. some names for the defensive side i'd like CB Kelly Jennings, S Ko Simpson, Jason Allen, OLB BobbY Carpenter, Kamerion Wimbley (not sure of his draft value) ILB Abdul Hodge, D'Qwell Jackson and of a DE isn't taken Tamba Hali.
 
O'Callahan does not fit the scheme and Kelly Jennings does not deserve to be drafted high. The only person I would stay at hte second rouond pick for is Bobby Carpenter and even Nick Mangold, otherwise I saw trade down and try to get an extra second. as for a DB I like Alan Zemaitus with one of our thirds if my trade down plan happens.

Sorry, bro, but you're completely wrong about Winston..He looked a little sluggish at the beginning of the season, but he regained his form as the year wore on...Nobody puts much stock in an OT's 40 time since straight line speed is not imperative...The numbers that actually important when discussing OTs, especially for a ZBS which we will be running, are the 10 yard dash, short shuttle, and the cone drill...

Winston's numbers in these three fields were 1.7, 4.49, and 7.47, respectively...Compare that to Colledge, whose numbers were 1.71, 4.60, and 7.46, and Ferguson, who did not participate in the 10 yard dash, but posted times of 4.85 and 7.62 in the shuttle and cone drill, and you can see that number-wise, Winston is more impressive than the two who are thought to be the best fits for a ZBS...While Winston may not be the pass blocker that Ferguson and Colledge are, he is a more polished run blocker and he has a higher upside since he is still learning the position...We would be lucky to acquire him...

He has a larger frame than Ferguson and Colledge, but he does not hold his man when run blocking to his side and he ge is ineffective in cutting hte backside pursuit. He is no LT in the NFL, there is an argument to play him at RT, where he would resemble George Foster from Denver, but I trust Wand more to hold the LT spot and have College compete for either tackle spot. Winston is alright, but no better than getting maybe Scott in the third.

Winston might not be there at #33.....go for best DB or LB.

I've seen Whitworth at #33...that seems high

Probably could get Colledge or Scott in third.
 
DB is the only place where we did not do any damage in FA.
The O-Line was addressed when we aquired Flannagan and moved McKinney over to guard. That's like 2 pick-ups for the O-Line.

It's DB. It's our weakest position by far.

3rd rd pix will be OL or a Blocking type TE with one of the pix and LB or DB/safety with the other one.

4th rd will be the best WR available or TE if we don't address TE with one of the 2 3rd rd pix or we make a trade for someones 3rd or 2nd rd'r next year
 
I really hope we take Davin Joseph at #33. I wanted to trade down, pick up Brick and more picks but it looks like that won't happen. That leaves us with a pressing need for linemen and Joseph will be a solid interior player for the next decade. He fits the scheme perfectly and I don't care if most mocks have him in the 35-45 range if you know you have a guy that will do a great job and is basically a pretty safe bet, I think you take it. Winston may have upside but is a greater risk. We can address the secondary at #65 or #66 where i wouldn't be surprised if one of the many safeties or CB's out there falls too far. Maybe we get lucky and Bullocks or Simpson drops to us. With Joseph I would feel a lot better as I struggle to believe that adding one veteran can solve all the o-line's troubles, especially for the future five years out and beyond. We need to take linemen with our highest picks and since Bush is a lock then Joseph may be the best option in the 2nd.

I'd like to see a trade down into the 40's for another 3rd. There is such a wealth of talent at MLB, OL, DB in the middle of this draft. I think an extra pick is much more valuable that getting a specific guy at #33. After all, Casserly has not proven to be that reliable when he goes after a guy at that point in the draft.

I agree completely, there is alot of talent ansd I would like to see us grab, Fasano with one of our thirds. He is a better blocker than the other TE's and he will replace Bruener because he is of the better rounded tight ends in the draft. I do think we need at least two DB's by the forth round also.
 
I think C. Griffin will be a mid-3rd to early fourth, he doesn't have the speed but I think he will fit a cover-2 because he will tackle at will.
 
I think we should get Maroney, Addai, or Maurice Drew(maybe we can see if he'll drop to the third......)

I like Winston, but man, I don't know about his arms. I was watching MFL network the other day, and for a man his size, his arms are REALLY short. I just wonder how that is going to impact his ability to pass block as a tackle.

DeAngelo Williams is still available, any chance he falls to you guys in the second? Might be a nice consolidation prize, 2 Williams for the price of 1 bush.
