2025 college Shrine bowl

You happen to just see Center - Jacob Bayer - go twice against DLinemen .... I'm in love ! That boy's got some fight in him .... man .... I believe that quickest, strongest movement I've ever seen from the center position ..... DAMN !
Wow, never heard of him. Must be a late injury replacement. Great to see a small school guy take advantage of an opportunity like this.

Shrine Day 3

Garnett Hollis CB
“Hollis had several terrific days of practice and was easily one of the top two or three cornerbacks on the field at Shrine practice. He was effective in both man and zone coverage, showing great awareness and the ability to track the pass in the air. Besides his polished ball skills, Hollis’ ability to make plays when his back was to the ball is very impressive.”

Could be a depth CB

I was a fan of Tahj's at Tech, but I really don't think he's fast enough to make it in the NFL. He's basically slower Lavion Bell
His stats show 1500+ yrs each of last 2 seasons so I wonder what his 40yd dash is. That’s very good with 5+ yrs per carry each of those two years with 17 TD’s last year. Maybe he’s an overachiever however I have him on my RB list in 4th round.

4.65 - 40 was a timed effort. We’ll have to wait and see how his Combine / Pro Day 40 looks.

I am not a draft expert or guru so I will differ to those of you or are those things to tell me what you think of Colorado Buffaloes WR's and their draft stock. I am a Colorado Buffaloes fan and have been since 1985. For fan boys sake I would love to see us get one of their WR's. Especially Jimmy Horn Jr. I am seeing where Colorados WR's are making an impression in Shrine Bowl practices which I have heard holds more weight than the game itself. Anybody who considers themselves experts please let me know what you think?

I do not consider myself an expert and your statement may have shut down some responses. I probably have not put as much focus on Horn as others because I just do not see him as that good of a player. Hopefully, he will be that diamond in the rough that gets out of the umbrella of Travis Hunter and becomes his own receiver. His position (slot) should encourage him to gain some weight and bulk for the NFL.
As with many college receivers, he excelled at his high school in track and is expected to run in the low 4.4s at the combine. I think he will measure out closer to 5 foot 9 and 5 ft 10 which again is a slight negative. Remember that he is showcasing in a very limited group of athletes and not in a group all eligible for the draft.
He should be fortunate to be drafted in the 7th round and hopefully by a team that doesn't need him to be more than developmental. He has some history as a kick returner and like many day three players could find a spot on special teams while he refines his wide receiver skill set.
I hope you find this interesting and helpful.

It all depends on the role of the RB. Not everyone is going to be or needs to be Saquan Barkley. I don't care about a RBs 40 time if his job is to pickup yards between the tackles and pickup the blitz.

Yes I think the combine this year will be a game changer for several prospects. The 4.65 would be an issiue if I was looking for our #1 back but I’m thinking 4th round or later if he drops. I just penciled him in due to his stats and body type. Looking forward to the upcoming bowls and the combine.

I think others are much closer to expert status than me, I therefore made that statement. Besides based on some comments some people seem to think they would do a better job scouting than those who are paid to do so.

As far as your comment about the limited competition of draft eligible players in the Shrine Bowl, that could be said about any talent showcase game. If the showcases hold little importance than why have them and better yet why do people discuss those who stand out in them on this forum? Didn't Tank Dell stand out in his Senior Bowl practices? Surely they brought enough talent to the table to make these showcase bowls.

I am guessing there are very few people who give two shakes about Colorado or any of it's players outside of Travis Hunter and only him because he won the Heisman trophy. Colorado didn't win 9 games last season solely on the contributions of Travis Hunter though he did play a major role.

The bowl game practices are very important. These settings are very important to small school guys. Guys like Ali Marpet wouldn't be 2nd rd picks without these games. I dont think anybody on this site thinks they could do a better job than the professionals. We dont have the personal/medical info that the teams have. Although I will say several posters on here could've done a better job of drafting than Rick Smith did without the info.

CU Buffs receivers will stand out during the bowl game practices and their stock will rise exponentially! I am of coarse being a CU fan. I think of all the Buffs WR's Jimmy Horn will stand out the most. I think he rises to a fourth or fifth round pick and I think will have a solid career in the NFL. I don't per say think anybody on this site thinks they could do a better job than the professionals but some comments lead those of us not all that into scouting the impression that they think they can. All I know is that I have heard through the grapevine that CU Buffs receivers are standing out in practice. Especially Jimmy Horn Jr. He is proving that he is more than a one dimensional receiver who just goes deep.

Horn and to a certain extent Webster.

Sheppard not so much.

Man the talent and depth of the Buffs WR corps is impressive.

I’m almost laser focused on Tennessee RB, Dylan Sampson (5-11 @ 201 lbs) who seems to be more than capable of handling the NFL RB position. What stands out….4.37-40 in 2023 and a time 4.19-40 this past season. The guy can also catch. I’d really like to see him work with Mixon for a couple of seasons.

that just got my attention based on his speed and worth my time to watch for him.

I think he’s a day 2 pick. An interesting prospect to pair with Mixon. We could use some speed in the backfield.

Arizona RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt has come out of nowhere. He had a big 2023 with New Mexico, but played only one game this season. Croskey-Merritt's acceleration is special. Can he block? Catch? Have vision? I don't know. But guys that have Matrix like movement usually have success in the league,
