Remember when Luke Lachey was hot? Maybe a fifth round?Guys I’m keeping an eye on at the Shrine Bowl are:
Ricky White WR
Nick Nash WR
Theo Wease WR
Luke Lachey TE
Bradyn Swinson Edge
Zy Alexander CB
Mello Dotson CB
Chris Paul LB
I do! I think his injuries have set him back some, but I’d draft him in the 5th and hope he rises to his potential.Remember when Luke Lachey was hot? Maybe a fifth round?
There are other guys I’d prefer than Brooks, but I do like his build.Well the reports on Tahj Brooks added to my interest of us grabbing him somewhere in 4th or later. He has the body to be a punisher and ball control RB. This guy I’m afraid will move up as the exposure increases. I’m hoping he is there in 4th for us.
who do you have in mind that will be tere i 4th or later? There are other guys I’d prefer than Brooks, but I do like his build.
Although I’d love to draft a guy on day 2, I don’t know if NC will do it.who do you have in mind that will be tere i 4th or later?
This is a guy I really hope they draft in the later rds if they dont draft guys like Warren/Loveland/Fannin in rds 1-2.
SAME! Even though he had a down year, I believe that he was still getting his legs back under him from the injury. This is a guy I really hope they draft in the later rds if they dont draft guys like Warren/Loveland/Fannin in rds 1-2.
I also like Elijah Arroyo a lot, both he and Lachey would be upgrades to the current TE room IMHO.
Cobee Bryant going to be very good if he gets with a right team and good coaching..
They often have very good information.Standouts Day 2
I like the site Steelers Depot. They give a lot of updates on prospects at the all star games which I find informative for later round guys.
Those should be sevens or udfa and that is a good thing for teams.10 Winners from Day 2
Guys that intrigue me from this list that could add depth are:
Tyler Batty DE
Konata Mumpfield WR
Robert Longerbeam CB
Alijah Huzzie CB
That pounding is going to be his downfall because he does not have the bulk to hold up.Shrine Bowl Day 2
“
Luke Lachey/TE/Iowa
Once considered an early-round pick, Lachey has not fully recovered from the injury that sidelined him for most of 2023, yet he showed flashes of his prior brilliance Sunday. He’s a natural pass catcher with a great frame that measures 6-foot-5.5 and 245 pounds. What stood out Sunday was his pass-catching ability and toughness.
Lachey caught everything thrown his direction, and on multiple occasions, he made the tough catch in a crowd then took a pounding yet held onto the football. The team that’s patient with Lachey and nurses him back to full health is going to get a steal on the final day of the draft.”
Longer eam should get drafted in the 5-6th rd range. Those should be sevens or udfa and that is a good thing for teams.
I agree on Lachey but that is not going to happen.Longer eam should get drafted in the 5-6th rd range.
I would definitely spend a 5-6th on Lachey and wait a year for him to get healthy.
You don't think he's going to be drafted in the 5-6th or that they won't spend a 5-6th on a guy they will have to wait on for a year?I agree on Lachey but that is not going to happen.
His official weight at Shrine was 245 which is decent. I think he has potential to be a great contributor if his medicals look okay. That pounding is going to be his downfall because he does not have the bulk to hold up.
He will be a good investment, however I don't think the Texans will draft him. I still am hoping they somehow get Fannin. I think the draft is really going to depend more on how free agency goes for us.You don't think he's going to be drafted in the 5-6th or that they won't spend a 5-6th on a guy they will have to wait on for a year?
You know the Chiefs had to wait a year for Kelce to get healthy before playing him full time. I think Lacey would be considered a smart investment.
Seem like luxury pick, Texans cannot afford given depth issue multiple positions. Texans need immediate impactful TE addition. If not in first (doubt Warren lasts to Texans selection) not another developmental project. Nobody in Shrine is that guy. Would rather focus on RB & WR here, maybe CB Cobee Bryant 3rd day, definitely need better depth. Or DT is a talented deep class & Jordan Phillips could fit in rotation immediately aa Texans may loose couple seeking larger contracts. His official weight at Shrine was 245 which is decent. I think Bryant might be playing himself into day 2 which is why I’m looking at day 3 guys for depth at positions CB , LB, and maybe DT.Seem like luxury pick, Texans cannot afford given depth issue multiple positions. I'm thinking if you can find a starter in the 5-6th rd even if you have to wait a yr it's well worth the investment. Lachey will be able to play next yr, he just wont be able to carry on a full work load. Lachey is going to be a good starter level TE. Remember Kittle lasted into the 5th rd for the same reasons Lachey did and look how that turned out. Same with Kelce. You cant go wrong drafting Iowa TE's.Seem like luxury pick, Texans cannot afford given depth issue multiple positions. Texans need immediate impactful TE addition. Spend a 6th/7th on him if you want him.If I’m using draft picks in other areas and TE need is still on the books late….I could draft one and sign a sleeper as an UDFA.
My UDFA TE target is Maliq Carr (Houston, via Purdue 2020, Michigan State 2021-2023, then Houston 2024). He’s a big 6-6 @ 266 lb TE who excels in blocking. The Texans have TE’s who can catch, but blocking is a lacking trait. Carr’s best season happened in 2023 with the Spartans. I don’t think the Cougars utilized him, but he was a solid blocking TE. Carr is a capable receiver if used and has enough giddy-up to work the seam. He could definitely develop behind Schultz, Stover, and Jordan in regards to improving his receiving skills, but he’d be a ready to go blocking TE asset.
