Collins -So is the WR class, by a mile.
Disagree 1000%I’m still 100% convinced that Hooker is the best QB in this draft. I’m also 100% sure that Garoppolo would be the best veteran QB available to come in and help Slowick get his new offense installed with the offense….while helping both Mills and Hooker (if drafted) understand the all nuances of the new offense.
So I've read that Levis has a real gun but his mobility is less than desired for a QB in todays NFL ?
The TE class is probably the best even more so than the WR class. I love a lot of TEs in this classSo is the WR class, by a mile.
Speaking of strong position groups, this could be a historic tight end class.
McShay says he has five tight ends in his top 50, which is unheard of, and Jeremiah’s view of the group may be even stronger than McShay’s.
“I’ve never seen a tight end group this deep,” says Jeremiah. “Even just from a personal standpoint, my order’s changed just from the last few weeks. The more I’ve watched, I’ve moved guys around a bit, individually. Talking to teams around the league, they’ll have them in all different orders. The one thing that I’m curious about is because there’s just so many of them, I wonder if it pushes them all down.”
The thinking there being, of course, that you might find quality well into Day 2, rather than having to spend a first-round pick, but that doesn’t diminish the first-round level of play that does exist in this pool of players. And for Jeremiah, at least, the list starts with Utah star Dalton Kincaid, whose one knock is that he turns 24 in October. (He won’t work out in Indy due to a foot injury.) The USC tape alone was enough to trump that for DJ.
“I was watching the tape of all the targets, of all of his targets, and I literally thought I must’ve dozed off because I was like, There’s no way this game is still going,” he says. “How many freaking catches does this guy have in this game? Like, can you just stop him?”
Meanwhile, McShay has stuck to his guns on Notre Dame’s Michael Mayer, who was the consensus top tight end coming into the season and, for one reason or another, has slipped in the minds of some folks.
“I don’t know why,” McShay says. “Maybe it’s because he’s not the fastest guy. To me, he looks a lot like Gronk [Rob Gronkowski]—his run after catch, how physical he is; he’s a grown man.”
Then, there’s Oregon State’s hyperathletic Luke Musgrave, who starred at the Senior Bowl after missing much of the 2022 season with injury, and Georgia’s supersized Darnell Washington and … yeah, there’s a lot of potential here.
I like Maye just about as much as Williams.
Both are better prospects than any QB in this draft.
So is the WR class, by a mile.
Best TE class that I've seen in 15 yrs.The TE class is probably the best even more so than the WR class. I love a lot of TEs in this class
A valid concern. My only concern with Williams is that he is a product of Lincoln Riley's offense. Outside of Hurt, who one can argue was already a great QB at Alabama before transferring his final season, we've got Murray and Mayfield as the sample size of success in the NFL.
This is from 2021. Bryce Young lets the ball go on Bama's 37. Hits Jameson Williams in stride at the Georgia 5 yard line. That's 58 yards. In the bucket.
But Bryce Young doesn't have NFL arm strength. And he's not accurate.
A challenging thought...
Decisions to be had and it's not just a one position player that answers all questions for a winning team. Texans have various holes to fill.
Possible polarizing very talented 1st round top 2 drafted QB with much needed OL help
vs
Very talented potential improving late 1st or 2nd round QB with a very improved OL and DL.
That will be a tough price to beat.Odds are against the Texans drafting Young. Especially if the Colts pony up 3 1st RD picks.
If he plays QB at the level of Bryce Young, then yes. He would be the best QB in Texans franchise history.Do you really want to draft a guy who is small framed and has had issues at the college level with AC joint injuries.
Mills has a stronger arm than Young, 100%. Processing doesn't appear so.Arm strength wise they're very comparable.
Processing wise, not so much.
This will come with better coaching and experience.Mills has a stronger arm than Young, 100%. Procession doesn't appear so.
With a clean pocket? He has way too many questions about his size not to be throwing. So the 949 passes at Bama weren't enough for you?
Watch a little more tape on Young. He didn't throw 900+ passes in a clean pocket, and the pocket won't be dirty at the combine. With a clean pocket? He has way too many questions about his size not to be throwing.
I certainly don't put that out of the realm of possibility. Which is why I don't want to reach in a year there's no consensus. I honestly have no idea which guy will end up being a franchise QB, if any. I do think Young has the highest floor though. This will come with better coaching and experience.
It appears BOB coached up Young very well.
We would get to see the arm that he had had multiple AC injuries on…Watch a little more tape on Young. He didn't throw 900+ passes in a clean pocket, and the pocket won't be dirty at the combine.
It's on tape.We would get to see the arm that he had had multiple AC injuries on…
Who also turns the ball too much either interceptions and fumbles.Levis is plus athlete with above average mobility. Can run RPO stuff better than both Young and Stroud and on par with Hooker.
Watch a little more tape on Young. He didn't throw 900+ passes in a clean pocket, and the pocket won't be dirty at the combine.
Young injured his right shoulder in the 2nd quarter of the Arkansas game. He landed on the shoulder after being tripped and throwing the ball away. Young missed the A&M game the following week, and returned at the home game versus Mississippi State. Threw for 249 yards, 2 TDs and 0 INTs in the Crimson Tide's 30-6 victory.ge
Now Admittedly, I'm not sure of when the reported/supposed AC injury occurred,
So Young is on the level of Davis Mills? Some interesting analysis in this thread.
My greatest fear is being in an old folks home, with Kathy Bates as my nurse.Bryce Young fan club, party of two. Your table is ready.
Our special menu today is roasted crow, served with a side of mashed cheesy fan regrets. After your meal, you'll finish with just desserts.
So your analysis is that Young doesn't have an NFL arm and is not accurate?
So tell me, does Bryce Young have NFL arm strength and accuracy? That's what the post was about. I promise not to tell your Hooker.Need to read a post before replying. I stated that it was a nice pass. My concern was the excessive windup it took to get the ball there. If the pocket isn’t as clean as it was….that ball could’ve easily resulted in a fumble or strip sack.
Yep that's what i said.Nick actually said that he gets the most from interviews
Did you see the comment about running back Armstrong that does not exist? There's that pesky "nothing burger" shoulder injury?![]()
Wut? Are you aware of how he did the seven games after injury? Only thing he has to convince NFL teams is he can handle hits.AC joint injury I think he has had 3. And not going to throw. That's a big gamble. Even if his medical is good it's going to make scouts and coaches wonder. He will need a huge pro day to shake doubt about a possible long term injuries to his shoulder
As a starting QB in the SEC, the number of National Championships won: Stetson Bennett 2; Bryce Young 0.True that. A lot to love in that 194 lb body.
You watched those Georgia games last year. How many times did guys like Walker and Carter smack Young, but he got back up and continued firing at them? Seems like you would respect that?
Hooker has good tape. I wish he were 22 or 23 and not 25. That's kinda hard to reconcile.Levis is plus athlete with above average mobility. Can run RPO stuff better than both Young and Stroud and on par with Hooker.
Oh wait so let's see how he does on that all-important wonderlic ? OK ?I'm not sure his processor is fast enough to be a cook at Waffle House on Saturday or Sunday.
Bennett will be a superstar. In the XFL.As a starting QB in the SEC, the number of National Championships won: Stetson Bennett 2; Bryce Young 0.
No but size comparison to stats; Foskey and Anudike-uzomah are very close and can be had later. Drew sanders round 2 preferable to me over Anderson. Here's a question for you draft gurus: a hypothetical.
Let's say that Will Anderson runs a slow 40 say 4.6 something but a lesser known edge prospect knocks out a really fast 40, say maybe sub 4.5 does that mean that Anderson's chances of being the first edge player taken in the 2023 Draft are lowered ?
Oh wait so let's see how he does on that all-important wonderlic ? OK ?
What are your concerns about Eugene Forbes and Isaiah Brown. Bijan Robinson, Foskey and Tuipulotu? There are questions about Carter & Anderson. For Carter, it's motor & lack of production. For Anderson it's size and universal scheme fit. There are no perfect players in this draft. But, the players at the top of this draft are better than the players at the top of last year's draft. Four players in this draft would have come off the board before Travon Walker.
So?Bennett will be a superstar. In the XFL.
Not if you think he's going to play 10+ years.Hooker has good tape. I wish he were 22 or 23 and not 25. That's kinda hard to reconcile.
I look at vertical for DBs and WRs. Cones for linebackers. The one thing the Combine does rather well is to show the athleticism of the Big Uglies, the OL and DL.
You can still do well on the Wonderlic and not be able to process a lot of information quickly. Those two things do not necessarily go hand in hand.Oh wait so let's see how he does on that all-important wonderlic ? OK ?
Well, he is frail and short and his offensive line couldn't block for him..This is from 2021. Bryce Young lets the ball go on Bama's 37. Hits Jameson Williams in stride at the Georgia 5 yard line. That's 58 yards. In the bucket.
But Bryce Young doesn't have NFL arm strength. And he's not accurate.
Bennett will be a superstar. In the XFL.
What windup? He cocked and threw. That was also an ugly elongated throwing motion that makes that type of windup susceptible to being stripped.
It was a nice pass, but that pocket was extremely clean…which allowed that type of windup.
Some teams use the Thumper Index. Vertical Jump + Broad Jump + 225 Bench Press. A score of 70 indicates a very well-conditioned athlete.I look at vertical for DBs and WRs. Cones for linebackers.
Hooker has good tape. I wish he were 22 or 23 and not 25. That's kinda hard to reconcile.
That's why you have to watch a player with your eyes. And not the accolades. Bennett is a shorter Danny Wuerffel or Chris Weinke.Had he not been 5'11" and 190 lbs, we'd be talking about him along with Stroud, Levis, Young, Hooker and Richardson. But yet here we are talking about Young with the same size and stats, minus the national championships and MVPs.
Ok show these expert evaluations. PFF says high level and this said excellent. Many people who get paid to be NFL analysts have stated that he has at best an average NFL arm and would struggle to consistently make certain throws in the NFL.
Just because you linked one video showing him making a good throw doesn't change the assessment of the experts.
But go ahead with your strawman arguments that I said he was on the same level as Mills.
