2022 HOUSTON COUGARS

Wow! I quit watching with 4 min left to play and the Cougars down 32-19. I should have stuck with it. Just saw the Cougars came back and won 33-32!!! Awesome!

edit: Cougars were down 26-7 at start of 4th

Might be the game that finally gets this team back on track.

Wow what a 4th quarter.
1. Down 19 points at beginning of 4th, 26 points scored.
2. 100 yard kickoff return
3. Onsides kick recovered.
4. 3 TD passes, game winner with 18 seconds on clock
5. 17 yard scramble on 4th and 11 by Tune with 3;00 or so on clock. Without that ; game over.
6. Sack to end the game.

The defensive effort against SMU was embarrassing. They can't play like that going into the Big 12. I hope Tillman is making calls to prospective coaches.
Clayton Tune going to the East-West Shrine Game.

Currently, I've seen some scouts projecting him the middle round of the draft.

PFF graded him higher than Ridder last year.

And he has improved since then.

If only the defense shows as well as last year (well they had an easier schedule last year, but they can still do better than what they're doing right now), Tune would have been given more attention to.

The offense have certainly doing its part despite losing some key players.

Still some more football to play and I think Tune's stock is going to rise after the East-West Shrine game.

Go Coogs.

Would you say Tune is the new Case Keenum? If so that would be great, Keenum has made probably 50 mil in the NFL.

Clayton Tune's 9th career start vs. Zach Wilson and the 15th ranked BYU Cougars in 2020.

The Cougars led going into the 4th quarter.

The game was still close late in the 4th quarter when all hell broke loose.

Tune was still raw but he acquitted himself pretty well against a better opponent.

Returner makes a fair catch at his own one yard line.

A bad punt.

An untimely holding call that killed a drive.

And a few bad plays by the UH defense.

Tune went 21-31 for 310 yards and 2 TDs no INT.

He scrambled around for 25 yards and a TD.
Got sacked 3 times and pressured a fair amount of time.

After all, BYU was the better team.

I’ve always liked Tune, but he’s going to go in RD5 or later unless he blows up in the Shrine Bowl practices and game, plus has massive showings at the Combine and his Pro Day.

I'll be very surprised if he even gets a combine invite

Barring injury, I'm confident that he will go higher than the 5th.
The 5th is a no brainer for Tune.
He has the size, the mobility and he checks all the boxes.

Drafttek has Tune as the #36 QB- #520 overall as of 11/12/2022

#36 doesn't seem like an accurate assessment. Danu Brugler of The Athletic has Tune as the #9 Senior QB. And there are reports that the Senior Bowl is scouting Tune. They take input from NFL teams as to which prospects they would like to see in Mobile. If I were to put a ranking on Tune now, it would be in the #15 QB area, late 3rd day/ Priority UDFA.

The Big 12 2023 football schedule will be released today at 1:00.

Leaks are suggesting TCU and UT will be at UH. Poor UT, they will have to lower their high and mighty standards to play ole UH. How humiliating for them.

9.02.23 UTSA
09.09.23 @Rice
09.16.23 TCU
09.23.23 Sam Houston
09.30.23 @ Texas Tech
10.12.23 West Virginia
10.21.23 Texas
10.28.23 @Kansas State
11.04.23 @ Baylor
11.11.23 Cincinnati
11.18.23 Oklahoma State
11.25.23 @UCF

I doubt Dana makes it through the year. With Utah coming in next year as well as ucf and others, the Coogs need to stop being a stepping stone for coaches.
