2022 HOUSTON COUGARS

UTSA taking Cougars OL to the woodshed today
Cougars looking outmatched
Doesn’t look like a team ready to step up to the B12.

I just tuned in so going primarily by the score.

I think we should give them a little slack considering it’s the 1st game, rusty, and UTSA was pumped for an upset.

we didn't rank them #24...
we didn't let UTSA score 21 straight points
we didn't let UTSA move 40 yards in 20 secs with no timeouts to force OT

Can you explain to me what happened at the end of the game? The box score said the Coogs won on a 2 pt conversion.

I missed the very end also
perhaps @thunderkyss can tell us
The game went to 3 OT's where the game was decided by two point conversions. Houston was the first to attempt their try and succeeded. UTSA failed their two point try to end the game. It seemed like a terrible way to end an otherwise great game.

yeah I knew that, just didn't see anythin after the Cougars scored to go up 35-27... guess I'll have to hope for a replay

UTSA scored and succeeded with their 2 PT conversion, making it 35-35. 3rd OT was only a 2 PT attempt.
So it's after the 2nd OT there's only 2 pt conversions? No TD's or FG's? Where is the try made from?

I was at the game. Coogs controlled the 4th quarter scoring 17 points and maintaining possession for 10:30. UTSA was fired up for this one and the Coogs were lucky to escape.

First time in the Alamodome. It’s one of the worst stadiums I’ve ever been in. A big cold concrete box.

Holgrosen is officially on the hot-seat.
Curiously, Ed Orgreon was on the sidelines at the game tonight.

Holgrosen on the hot seat…..good. He lost some very good players from last season, but that wouldn’t give him a pass since these are his recruits on the field.

Orgreon on the sideline……wouldn’t want him as the Cougars HC.

Why did Holgorsen take the ball first in OT? You give the ball to the other team, then have the advantage of knowing what you have to do when you get the ball. And Holorsen's body language the entire game was annoying at best, deflating team morale at worst. I don't know everything, or anything, that's going on inside UH football. But Holgorsen seems to be losing his grip on the team.

ya think

1- can't play four quarters of football
2- highly penalized
3- players fighting on the sideline
4- press conferences where he is trying not to take responsibility for any of the three above.
5- 2-3 record

He’s done in 3 times now. Does not make sense to me

“A lot of stupid stuff once again,” a heated Holgorsen said after the game against Rice. “I ain’t taking responsibility for that, at some point they got to quit doing that.”

In addition, Tulane faces a highly penalized Houston team. The Cougars rank last in the country in penalties per game (10.8) and penalty yards per game (96.0). In last week's victory against Rice, Houston committed 10 penalties for 110 yards. By contrast, the Green Wave average just 3.8 penalties per game (sixth best in the country) and 30.0 penalty yards per game (seventh).

linkage for the bullet list

Why does anyone think Orgeron would be a good head coach? Hell, you could have taken the 2019 Tigers to a national championship. He's a name that should be forgotten.

Like Barry Switzer’s SB success with the Jimmy Johnson’s Cowboys. The real Barry didn’t stand up until he was stuck with him and Jerrah’s guys.

Personally, this would be about the right time to bring Tom Herman back as the Cougars HC…they’ll finally be joining the BIG 12 on 02 July 2023 which should make the job even more interesting to him.

As Cougar fans, we may not have liked that he left the team for his dream offer to coach the Longhorns, but who could really blame him. I think his 22-4 record wasn’t so shabby and since he’s not coaching in 2022…..that should make him all ears if UH were to come knocking.

I think it comes down to how much he pi$$ed Tillman off. If they can mend fences, we know Herman can win at UH. Whatever they do, they can't take Holgorsen into the Big 12.

From radio interviews I’ve heard, Dana takes the ball first in OT because he says the analytics say the team that has the ball first wins more.

Wow! I quit watching with 4 min left to play and the Cougars down 32-19. I should have stuck with it. Just saw the Cougars came back and won 33-32!!! Awesome!

edit: Cougars were down 26-7 at start of 4th
