He's a big guy (6'5" 240#) with a big arm......and has impressive mobility. He only had 2 years of significant snaps..........2018 and 2019. His 2018 to 2019 regression can be explained by the change of HC and total change of the offense from Pro style to spread. He can easily be considered a dual threat QB.......last year, he rushed for 7 TDs.
Last year he rushed for 9 TDs, not 7. Had horrible pass accuracy however.... only 53 percent. 174 completions for 329 attempts.

I’ll second his comment on not an accurate passer. Only completed 52.9% of his passes in 2019. Horrible.
I’m not defending the guy I’ve never seen him play. I just need more than the Opinion of two guys on a message board who have never seen him play and are only offering a single stat as evidence. Did his OLine suck? What about his WRs?

The guy is a relatively unknown. Not much to go by other than his 52.9% completion rate and 14 TDs - 12 Ints last year. You’re probably gonna have to do a little digging and research if you want those answers. Don’t think much is gonna be known on the message board.

well 32 teams didn't draft him, that's more than just my opinion. We could have had UDFA Anthony Gordon--Seahawks liked his accuracy and I did see him play.

Or you could do the research. You might actually learn something. Like in addition to Tiano do they have a LT that maybe can play OG like Robert Hunt this year. But I guess that would be too much to ask.

Why would I do the research? I’m not the one asking or who cares. You do it for all I care.

Loved Gordon, he's got great accuracy. Dont know about his vision or arm strength.
He doesn't have a cannon but his senior year and first as starter his avg was over 8 yards per attempt not catch which with his almost 700 is amazing and also gives some insight into his INTs of 16. 38 TDs is the 3:1 ratio I look for. Would have been great sitting behind Watson. I had mocked him early to Houston round 5. A steal for Seattle as UDFA.

I can see we're not of the same mindset.

I like learning new things.

If you did what I suggested you might actually find that you enjoy learning about unheard of prospects too.

I apologize apparently I'm askng too much of you. I realize everybody's brain works differently.

What is with you? If you wanna research then do it. No one is stopping you. If I wanted to learn about him I would. We’re all adults. I don’t think we need to be condescending towards each other, commenting on how one another’s brains work. Do your thing. Let others do theirs.

No condescension here

I thought you may want to start looking at football in a different way. Obviously that's not the case.

I will start to look at your talent evaluations in a different light thogh. No offense meant, some like BB/BL/Lucky do this as a hobby. you should keep up with their talent evals. You might take it on as a hobby or maybe learn something.

Agree but if we are looking at what we know of the two, Gordon overwhelmingly better player. It is likely he did not want to come to Texans.

So the answer is either

1. You would rather spend your time doing other things, which I respect.

2. You're not interested in learning new things, which tells me how seriously to take your posts on things football related.

I don’t care how seriously you take my posts. You just randomly appeared out of nowhere the last 2 days and don’t even know you. Someone was commenting on his inaccuracies so I simply threw out his stats from last year. I’m not going to do a ton of research on every minor subject and player acquisition in order to impress you.

Have you ever watched this guy throw a ball? I haven't.

So I'm not willing to judge him.

As far as the 2 days thing goes, this is just a failed attempt to discredit my thoughts.

I’m discrediting your thoughts cuz you show up here for 2 days and start judging people’s football knowledge and what they spend their time doing. I really don’t care to talk to you anymore. You’re condescending and think you’re more knowledgeable than you are.

I've actually been on this site for a very long time, lurking and learning from all you. You're free to ignore me--just trying to have discourse. Just because I've only been commenting for 2 days, you should consider whether if someone else, who has been here longer had told you the same thing, whether you would have so immediately discredited them. You might like getting to know the princess.

No one else here judges people for what they spend their time doing and telling them when and what to research. I really don’t care for your attitude and holier than thou persona so for now I’ll just ignore you. Thanks.

So stats prove who the best player is now? We should just start drafting the player with the best stats now. Probably would have better luck with our third round picks that way.

I said "what we know". Stats are a good starting point plus college and conference played for + tape + known info posted by other people. You know the entire research info that is available?

Ok I want to beat this drum again. OB really needs to get on the phone and sign C/OG- Gage Cevenka, Clemson.

6-3 @ 324 lbs. Look him up and you'll realize that his 324 lbs isn't sloppy at all.

In HS he compiled a 199-1 Heavyweight Wrestling record and was a 4 time State Champion. Pretty impressive.

He benched 225 lbs 43 times without slowing down. Another pretty impressive feat.

In 2016 he benched 450 lbs and squatted 600 lbs as a Clemson freshman. That's as a freshman.

In 2018 he squatted 600 lbs 4 consecutive times. Another impressive feat of strength.

My favorite.....played 46 games and started 23 without injury as an IOL.

I don't understand how this guy was left out of the NFL Combine and went undrafted but who cares.....he's stil available and I think he would make a hellava IOL for the Texans. He even has that destroy the other guy mentality that OB cherishes. If OB doesn't give him a call......I feel like the Patriots or Cowboys will grab him.

When his strength was recognized, he was moved from defensive line to the offensive line. From what I've been told, as long as he didn't have to move much (anchoring in place, powerfully pushing the defender off in straight line), he was able to prove his value, mostly in the run game. But when he was asked to move quickly and change direction or move laterally, his mobility issues were dramatically exposed, making him a significant liability in the pass protection game.

Im with you! But OBrien passed on All American interior guys like Biadasz from Wisconsin and the Guard from Michigan in order to select a project tackle. Im not sure that common sense and logic are what are driving the decisions down on Kirby anymore.

Think of the most opposite and outlandish thing you can .. and thats what will probably happen.

Heck was a 3 year starter, not a project. And it wasn't just the Texans that passed on those guys until the 3rd day. Biadasz may have had medical issues pop up. Bredeson wasn't the most mobile guy. I liked both of those guys enough to draft them there, but I liked Heck, as well. Tackles are harder to find than Guards. The Texans needed both, honestly. Choices have to be made without the plethora of picks the Vikings and Ravens had.

Even with those limitations, he played well at center and would be an excellent replacement for Martin after 2020. However, I know that the Develin/Bob combination of what they want in a OL won't look at Gage if they think he could only excel at 1 position.

Well since you have your GM hat on today (Tinfoil and all) please grant us your wisdom and clue us in on all of the correct picks that should've been made and what rds they should've been made in.

This should be fairly easy for a man with the vast array of knowledge you have. Being you know, a GM/Dr./Scout etc... I cant wait to be gleaned with the glory of your knowledge.

Although Martin doesn't thrill me, I'm not sure I can agree with this as beyond the blindside, a successful rush up the middle leaves a QB at max vulnerability in an NFL offense. Look at even Brady, his greatest vulnerability came when the center could not move quickly enough to stop the head on rush. The center must be able to move laterally quickly to square up while his guards are engaged closer to the OTs.

And also one of the most important jobs a center has is making OL calls. Martin is pretty good at this. The reason that Brady and the Pats (God please dont take this as me calling anybody a Pats hater or you will get banned by a certain power hungry mod.) struggled is they lost Andrews to blood clots in his lungs just before the season started and that resulted in what we saw from the Pats OL last yr.

True, but what I see mostly is Martin receiving help from the guards. He is not being asked to do much movement laterally and maybe that's due to his ankle issues or design. Martin has gone from bad to mediocre and got a substantial raise. From what we get out of him, I think Gage could provide better in 2021 at a lower salary and warrants getting him on the roster this year.

You're higher on Heck than I am. I thought it was a complete reach at that point in the draft for an end of the roster player when you could have added a day 1 contributor or at least someone who could push for a job as a rookie (interior OL mainly).

Also, I have my reservations on tackles that are taller than 6'6 being athletic enough to catch up to a 40 degree bend at the NFL level. Who knows, maybe OBrien will try to make Tytus a guard again, and throw Heck at RT? Just seemed like a stretch for a guy who many had a 6th round grade on.

I thought I've seen it posted around here that in this offense, the QB sets the protection by identifying where certain defensive positions are lined up pre-snap...not just blitzes. But either way, typically all centers are aware of the OL blocking assignments. That's one of the reasons they are thought of the smartest position on the OL.

Well then, there should be no issues with OL calls then since the Texans have a GOAT making those calls and everybody already knows the GOAT couldn't bear any responsibility for the OL issues that lead to the 2019 failure.

You're funny...but they (OL) still have to execute right? You don't think Gage would prove to be an upgrade over Martin starting in 2021?
