OK. I thought we had longer to make our picks in rounds 1-3 and then shorter for the later rounds. So I thought we'd have 4 hours/pick today. But let's pull the trigger on the Browns pick and go with Wentz.

Sorry boys, just jumping on. I'm totally cool with the Ravens pick, but would it be possible to push the Vikings off to someone else? I hate to be a nuisance, but I didn't really want 2 teams this year if it could be helped. I have been quite distracted by outside things lately and am sure I can handle 1 team, but 2 could cause me to let the thread down and drop the ball.

If it must be done, I will accept and try, but would prefer only the Ravens.

Thank you again very much.

Thanks for letting us know in advance and not sitting on your pick, like what is currently being done.

man, we are 4 minutes from missing a pick at pick #2 overall lol.

Thanks everyone that was down to take the Vikings. Appreciate yall.

Let's glam it up a bit boys like we were doing last year...

Carson Wentz - QB - North Dakota State - 6'5" - 237 lbs.

Cool, I'm fine with you taking the Vikings. Was it WolverineFan who also offered to pick up the team? Whoever it was, I'd be surprised if he wasn't cool with it, too.

Does anyone else get the feeling we are sitting in just the right spot to cash in on some teams wanting to move up and take Lynch?

I wouldn't mind being the one to take him.
Ive been thinking the same thing. We don't know what we have in Osweiler. Why not bring in Lynch and tell him from the get go this is Osweilers job. Give Osweiler every chance to succeed and if he fails we have a good insurance policy.

IMHO I don't see Lynch making it past the LA Rams in the NFL Draft and I am all in for Texans drafting Josh Doctson.

If that's my choice, I take Doctson. A space eating NT can be had later in the draft.
I'd agree if you don't care which way the space is moving. But Billings is very strong and has wrestling moves. That won't be available later in the draft.

But the same general thing can be said at WR. You can get plenty of WRs later in the draft. But not Doctson.

Thus the conundrum.

No conundrum for me, it's more WHICH DL to choose? Watt's revelation & Cricks departure signal a shift from WR position to DE. They say keep fluid for a reason.

Going back to our group picks for Texans, sure does seem odds are in our favor a good WR will be available, be it Fuller or Shepard, I could live with either. But instead of Billings Texans should target a pass rushing, sack accomplished 5 tech DE/DT like Kevin Dodd?
I know he slid to #30th overall (TT Mock Draft) but he has the motor, frame & track record to prove he can be a disruptive force in opposing backfield besides sealing the edge. If Billings had more production (sacks) I would say ok but, if we're talking about retooling we better find a player who can relieve some pressure off Watt now & in be in place for Watt later, not just another JAG, as mussop likes to say :barman:

Before I get the - "too undersized" comments, I have a comp for him who was drafted in the 2012 draft by New England 21st overall by the name of Chandler Jones. Very similar size, both 6-5 plus & weighing close to 270, long arms 34"-35" & big hands 10". Biggest differences are Dodd has him on core strength, level of competition faced & production. Dodd exceled senior season with 23.5 tackles for loss & 12 sacks compared to just 7.5 TFL & 4.5 sacks but no worries he just had 12 sacks for New England last year before being traded to Arizona for 2nd rd. pick plus Jonathan Cooper a recent 2nd rd. pick.

For whatever reason we'very been preoccupied with getting a big fat NT since the Capers regime. Then when we get one we complain that he's too fat.

The only qualm I have against Dodd, for the Texans, is they're about 11 Clemson defensive players expected to go in the first three rounds... how can we be sure we're getting what we think we're getting.

I'm not saying we shouldn't draft one of these guys, just that we need to dig deep to be sure we're getting the right one.

Gauging interest in our yearly mock draft. I know it can get bogged down after the first 2 rounds, and then the hardcore are forced to finish 5 rounds for 20 teams. So first we need to decide if we even want to do it this year. Thoughts?

Some rules and guidelines we have used in the past.

This will be a sign up thread. If you want to play simply post that you do, and select an available team (not the Texans) if you wish. If you don't care what team, then you will randomly be assigned a team from https://www.random.org/ before the draft.

Would need multiple moderators to help.

If you post saying "I'll take the Texans" you will be banished to The No Spin Zone. So don't ask.

I'd love to get Doctson.

I agree, I think Doctson and Austin Johnson would give Texans best 1, 2 value available.

I remember falling for the strongest man in the draft scenario with Marshall Newhouse and Newhouse has NFL DNA to boot. Thought him to be a 2nd or 3rd guy, GB took him in RD 5 and he turned to be a JAG and a better weight lifter than a football player. It's the old saying about weight lifters and body builders, "But Can They Operate a Touch Tone Telephone"

I don't either but that's not the discussion. Would you consider him of he did?

After watching his last four games, particularly the Auburn game, I would have to say no. Although he had a very good Pro Day but it doesn't match the tape. I have a feeling that if didn't beat Mississippi we wouldn't talking about him. The BIG Q I have about Lynch is could good coaching make a difference???
