2016 Senior Bowl

Dak Prescott because he threw a TD pass that was by all accounts a poor pass thrown behind the WR. By my accounts your Temple LB was my MVP, he was all over the field constantly making tackles.

3, 4 years ago an ilb from Pitt had over 500 career tackles...led the nation as a senior if my memory is right
watching Matakavich brings back memories of him(forgot his name) looked like a 4th/5th rd guy to me yesterday..lacks sideline speed and bad in coverage

griitty, smart guy...player from temple I love is Matt Ioannidis..flashed yesterday kid will be an instant starter at DE for a 3-4 team

He had to throw the pass slightly behind him to avoid the safety coming over. The poor pass was on the near pick in the endzone the previous play.

So what separates Matakevich from a guy like Ragland who minus 2 more PDs and 2 FFs, Tyler had better numbers?

Ragland is 20 lbs heavier and also a bit more athletic. If you watched in the game, Matakevich shut down everything in the box. But when forced to go sideline to sideline or make a play in space he had trouble. Ragland actually switched positions this week and played OLB to prove to scouts that he can function in space. It paid off as he had a good week and likely solidified a 1st round pick.

In short, both guys are really good, but one guy is bigger and faster so he's going to be valued higher by 99% of scouts/teams because measureables are important (although too much emphasis is placed on them at times).

It was Spence for me. He was unblockable. I could have lived with Matakevich though. That guy cleans up everything in the box. Has a 6th sense on getting to the football.

Tentatively, I'm leaning to Butler to be Texans in my next 1st rd draft pick.

If there was a QB I liked or maybe Elliott was there I'd pick them . If not you can get a top notch DL prospect at 22 because there's so many . I would dare say you could add a NT and a top notch DE in the first two rounds . There will be a good RB in the 3rd or a TE but probably not a QB . There lies the rub . Do you take an A+ DL prospect or a B-/ C+ Qb prospect in round one or two ?

I have always subscribed to the BPA, so I will almost always go with the A+ player. The rare instance I might not is if you already have a A+ player in that position, then it would be on to the next BPA for me.

Really like both Cooper and Shepard but both will be gone early.

I like Braverman, but if you're looking for a sleeper, keep your eye on Jaydon Mickens from Washington.

Also, Demarcus Ayers and Bralon Addison are both developmental guys who could contribute as return guys early in their careers.
Mickens needs to get above 175 pounds unless you just want him for returns. Are you familiar with haron

Pretty good avg per catch & supposedly (there's that word again) beat Sammy Watkins. We have done well in the Clemson WR pool so far.

I have three mocks working currently to get one I love. 22 is too high for Butler but I see him out of our reach in second. I'm thinking Wilfork is back and Covington will be even better so..do we use a first or second on Nose? Jaran Reed or Austin Johnson or Butler? With the last two we might be able get a trade down then select them first round or as I now hope, Butler there at 52. Still trying to figure it out plus need priority of getting a nose or just go for FA

First let me say I understand it's an All Star game, players had 2 days of practice, QBs and WRs are the most disadvantaged and the players are trying hard to make a play to get noticed. However I saw something this week that makes me think I need to reevaluate my first mock and Jake Coker. When compared against Wentz, if Wentz operates at 100 MPH, Coker operates 80 MPH. While Wentz is quick and decisive in his decision making, Coker comes off a bit slow and methodical in his. Wentz passes are crisp and anticipatory, Coker waits for a sure thing. I'm sure he has that Saban thing going on in his head, turnovers are a no no, which is counter productive to making an NFL anticipatory throw.

Coker's lack of starts (only 14) showed at the Senior Bowl. Coker needs to spend time with Tom House or George Whitfield to get his his head right for the NFL. I noticed Coker displayed a case a happy feet yesterday, not a good sign for me, shows indecisiveness (also understand he was trying to make a play in a All Star game). I understand how at times his play can be frustrating for his coaches. On the other side, in the end, when you looked up at the scoreboard it said Coker 10, Wentz 0. Coker did convert two 3rd downs, ran for one and engineered two scoring drives in his first two possessions. Most likely I will be dropping Coker to a 3rd RD draft pick because now I'm not quite as sure how his mindset will transfer to the NFL. Because of that uncertainty for me, it knocks Coker out of RD 1 in my mock.

Isn't this what I've been telling you? Lol its all good man, to me you learn to anticipate throwing windows with more playing experience something he unfortunately hasn't had much of. Kind of like another Savage story to me, you can see all the tools on the world that would male him a 1st rounder, and he makes plays occasionally that make your jaw drop, but same knock on both, they hold the ball to long and don't process quick enough. Now that isn't to say it's an unfixable flaw by any means they just need more experience .

I'd go back and watch that td pass it was thrown where he should have thrown it. The reciever was on a slant he had the defender beat, but the defender wasn't trailing him but was on the back side of him then either a safety or lb was coming outside to take away that slant. If he lead the reciever it was an int or break up at the very best.

I though Prescott lead a great 2 minute drill to get points on the board to end the half. Especially when these guys have only practiced together a few times.

as Mayock said likely will run 4.8 and lacks ideal size/strength to play ilb. Matakavich will get drafted and get his chance the question will be how far will his elite instincts carry him?

Not saying this because I'm a temple fan but, you can have all the great physical traits, but if you lack instincts, and knowledge of the game, you won't get far

one of my favorite LBs of all time was a guy who everyone said couldnt play in the NFL because he was to small, and he didnt have the athleticism needed for the position. Well London Fletcher is now going to be a HOFer when he is eligible, sometimes instincts can do wonders

live in St Louis and watched Fletcher play ..one of the dumbest things the Rams ever did was letting him walk...sure struggled finding a decent replacement..Rams also drafted Tim McGarigle in the 7th..another instinctive slow guy...just too slow. Lot of instinctive slow guys on this list. Question is will Matakavich be another Tim McGarigle or the next Zach Thomas drafted in the 5th?
