Last season, I had zero expectations for the Texans. They won more games than I thought they would.
What are your expectations for 2015? Dominant defense, adequate offense, dominant defense and offense? Who will be the starters (pick a position and why)? Who do you see as a breakout starter?

I expect to see a dominant offense and defense. I fully believe in OB's ability to game plan and his ability to start the best player, regardless of position. I wouldn't be surprised if Savage is the starting QB against the Chief's, if he proves he's the best QB in TC. I won't be surprised if Strong starts over Washington, Johnson or Shorts gets starting reps.

On defense, I won't be surprised to see Simon and Muhamed to get starters reps and make a big contribution. The front seven on D and WR/TE corps have fewer questions than the OL. Can Jones take over the C and Filo the LG? That's a much bigger question to me than than D.

Personally, I'm more comfortable with the ILB situation over all the others.

I expect a minimum of 2,000 polls, 30 % of which will make no sense to me, 50% wont matter at all, and 20% I won't give a damn about

I can't wait for TC to start.

I expect us to have a dominating defense. I expect Simon to be a surprise. I watched Fitzy's 6 TD game against the Titans a couple of nights ago, and I was surprised at how much Simon was disrupting the Titan offense. I'm hoping we're going to have Simon and Clowney starting on the outside, but Clowney might not make it back. I've got high hopes for Wilfork, but fears, as well. I think this might be the best, most complete, secondary we've ever had.

I expect our offense to be good, if not great. I think the line will be OK, and I expect Mallett to be the QB. If Savage could win the starting job, that would be awesome. I think Mallett is going to be a guy who plays lights out for most of the game but has a few WTF passes every game. I expect the lights out to outweigh the wtf. I have no idea how our WR corps is going to shake out. I had high hopes for Strong but now, not so much. I've got higher hopes for Mumphery now.

I think we're going to be a much better team this year than last year. I'm not sure if that translates to a better record, but I expect it to. I'm expecting playoffs this year.

Mallett and OL health are the 2 keys to the Texans season. The difference between 11-5, 10-6 or 6-10.

But not everything could be fixed in 1 offseason.

I can't find a poll question. What is DL? What is QBq?

I made sure not to say "will", only "I expect" and "I think". The QB spot is the most important position on the field and... I'm not that worried about it. Maybe I should be, but I think we've improved our QB position overall and so I'm expecting better performance from that. Last year, I didn't expect OB to be able to get as much out of that offense as he did, so now he's set my expectations a little higher and I'm expecting more.

Personally, I'm not looking at it like "this has to be fixed" and "that has to be fixed", but instead that the coaches have to figure out how to make it work with what they've got, and the FO has to figure out if they can upgrade anything, and which things will give them the most bang for their buck. No team ever has everything fixed. So I'm not worried about that.

I pretty much agree with The Pencil Neck.

We're going to ride our defense into the playoffs; and with the additional support, and not to to overlook the experience, in the front seven, this may be the year JJ finally is recognized as the MVP. Expect a monster year from our future hall of famer.

At first I was uncertain with our receiver group, what with Strong slipping to the third round and the signing of Washington and Shorts. But what we are seeing here is OB's preference to go with vetdrams and to let rookies ride the bench their first year. Strong will see snaps in every game but unless injuries dictate, may not start a game this year.

Overall, I think our receivers are going to have an outstanding year. Our passing offense is predicated on our QB making accurate pre-snap reads to determine which receiver has the single coverage matchup and then getting the ball to that receiver quickly. Mallet has shown he is quite good in doing so. If Hoyer wins the starting position, we should be even better. Expect our QB's to find our TE's much more often than last year.

I expect us to beat Indy at least once and won't be surprised if we sweep. This will be our year.

After talking with someone who was at each practice, I'm convinced Hoyer will be the guy. According to this person, Mallett was the worst QB overall with major accuracy issues. Savage is looking a lot better but isn't ready. That is a pipe dream for 2015 but if he continues to improve he could be in the mix next year. If the season opened today, there is almost no question about it - 1) Hoyer 2) Mallett 3) Savage.

Mallett will need to turn it on in a big way when camp starts to have a shot.

It is amazing to me that a "poll" still causes some folks to fartz their sharts. I seldom read the poll and respond to thought behind the poll. I expect a very dominating defense without Clowney and if he is able to put some time into the games..I hope roof to the stadium is open or some may go deaf with the cheering. I'm looking for Mohamed and Simon to quietly improve again this season. Crick will also be better and being his contract year can help.

I expect Blue to be better and think Washington could keep Strong on bench. Pretty certain we now have some solid backups to push the starters. ALso think Q will be even a bigger motivating factor

I voted ILB because it had no votes. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. The question is irrelevant.

I'm not sure if your question is (a) which group will show the greatest improvement or (b) which group will be most responsible for the team's success (assuming we have success. I define success as getting back to the playoffs; if we don't meet that goal the season is unsuccessful).
My answer to (a) is the TEs. They were pretty much invisible for most of last year so there's no where to go but up.
My answer to (b) is obvious; our defense. With the D-line being the anchor. Adding Planet Vince to J.J. the Juggernaut and an improving Crick will drive opposing offenses crazy and keep us in most games.
Now which one of these queries applies to the poll?

So if you turn left up ahead, but turn right at the stop sign a mile back, but really you went down hill from the start and finished north of here, you would be right where you needed to be.

I don't want to have any expectations, really. Low expectations are depressing, and the 2010 season made it hard for me to have high expectations ever again.

I think a playoffs berth is possible, though.
