2013 TT Member Mock Draft Discussion

Looks like Short has been trimming down.
His weight went down at the Senior Bowl (308) from his normal playing weight (320) it went down further at the combine (299) and then at his Pro Day (303).

The good thing with Short is that he looked better toward the end of the season, at the Senior Bowl week and at his Pro Day.

One of my favorite WR's in the draft.

Had Rogers not been there , I would have taken him ahead of Swope , Hunter , Wheaton , Patton , Woods & Williams (Baylor).

Dobson is the real deal. Size , speed , ability to seperate and probably the best hands in the entire draft.

Short I like but gee 1st RD. I would honestly rather Jesse Williams

Jesse Williams SEC beast. Played football I believe 3 years and since he walked into Tuscaloosa he was the the best DLman they had. A former rugby player who is freaky stout and freaky strong.
Williams is a NFL player who can be above average and be a pro bowler just off talent
Short not so much.

Jesse Williams is one deminsional,2-gap NT who can eat up double teams and stand his ground. He brings nothing as a pass rusher. Will be on the side lines on passing downs. He will be a solid NT but nothing spectacular.

Kawaan Short has powerful hands and uses them well and has a nice combination of quickness and strength. He is strong at the point of attack and is a stout run defender. Because of his quick get off on the LOS he is good at shooting gaps which makes him an excellent penetrator. He sheds OL and has a quick burst to make tackles.

Short has 10X the talent that Williams has and if he puts it all together could be a steal at 27.

That's what makes the draft so exciting.
We could look back and see who was no point and who was way off.
Look back and laugh
Post a couple of pics of crow
Make a couple of jokes
Couple of who's your daddy
And then before we know it. . . 2014 draft talk

Me thinks you are going to be seeing pics of crows for this post. Oh yen and a for sure a who's your daddy from me. :pop:

We shall see. A lot goes into scheme and coaching. So which team a player goes to could make all the difference but I would bet Jesse Williams is a better pro than Short.

Williams has pass rush ability. He would not be considered for a 34 DE if he didn't
than just a one gap NT. He is more diverse than that. Blasphemy!

He projects to a 34 NT but he can be as 34DE 43 DT. He can be the piece where a team can run a hybrid front.

That's complete crap man.

Williams is constantly double team, and he beats the double team, collapses the pocket, or moves the QB, drives the RB east or West.

You honestly think its just the LBers at Bama that are so darn good.

Bama LBers got most of there attention and recognition when Jesse Williams walked on to campus. More so than Dareus.

Proof is in the pudding, this guy has dominated elite talent for 2years, when he knew nothing of the sport or football.

I'm wrong at Times, rarely to be honest. But ill come eat my crow and give kudos to the short pick if he says what you say he is.

But don't water down Williams to boost short that is far from the truth.

In the 4th RD the Dallas Cowboys select ...

Chris Faulk, OT, LSU

1. Kenny Vaccaro S Texas
2. Jamie Collins LB Southern Miss
3. Kniles Davis RB Arkansas
4. Chris Faulk OT Louisiana State

The Steelers select Le'Veon Bell RB Michigan State

He had one sack last year. ONE! 3/4 DE's generally aren't good pass rushers. You can go look at any scouting report out there and they are all basically the same as what I said in previous post. He is not considered a good pass rusher.

Are you saying he was better at Bama than Darious? If you are you are wrong.

Better come on an empty stomach!

He is a good run plugging DL who can command double teams because of his really good strong bull rush. That's not putting him down, thats just telling it like it is. He is good and deserves to be drafted early in the second round, but he does not have the ceiling/talent that Short has. However I would also say he has a higher floor that Short has.

I think you just agreed and disagreed with me all at the same time lol
Good sports banter
We shall see
No I would not take Williams over Dareus but its not like Dareus is lighting up the NFL

Why is Vacarro rated so highly?

I've watched him play and I don't get it.

I'd want no parts of him and I think there are much better players who are ranked behind him...even at the position he plays....

Thi is what I see.

He's good, but not a top 20-30 pick like most have him rated.

When I'm thinking of a top 15 S, players like Reed, Polamalu,Sean Taylor come to mind. I see Vaccaro as more Glover Quin than those guys. Good, but certainly not worth a top 15 type pick.

I have to go to a funeral this morning .... I hope to be back in time to make my cincy pick but Im not prepared to do so right now .... If I dont make it back before the time expires .... Im looking at the secondary.

Thoughts and Prayers

Stay strong for your wife/family.

Let me know if I can help in any way.

With the 117th pick in the 2013 TT Mock Draft, da Bears select:

Kevin Reddick, ILB, North Carolina

images

The Bears need another linebacker to help fill the void of Brian Urlacher and Nick Roach. Reddick has the pass rushing ability to get to the QB if needed, so he may play on the outside instead of in the middle. In any case, he's a talented guy to get at this point in the draft so I couldn't pass him up.

You're cutting it close! :bat:

I think you get good value for the pick.
He tested well in the agility department; if that part shows up better in his play, it could be a decent steal in the draft.

hahaha unfortunately I am. Good thing I checked my email when I woke up, otherwise I would have forgotten entirely.

Looks like whoever is on the clock at 7 AM never picks before 10:50. Getting more picks 7-11 PM than AM.

Yeah, but now we'll have to wait for corrosion.
He might not be back in time and hinted that he'd like for us to look at the secondary just in case, and I'm assuming safety.

There are still some very good value out there - at least 4 or 5 of them.

I think he will do well with the Bears.

He's great value at this point in the draft. If he had fallen to my next pick I may have taken him from a value stand point alone. He has the ability to do extremely well in the NFL if he can put it all together a little bit more.

I agree
I would not draft Vaccaro that early
But I'm thinking like Jerry Jones and what they need
I truly think they will go defense and prolly look at Safety

Corrosion has a funeral to tend to; he might or might not make it back in time.

I have Shawn Williams, safety out of UGA, rated pretty highly and if Corrosion is lookin for a guy in the secondary, this strong safety is good value in my opinion. There's 3 or 4 safeties here that are all rated pretty close together. Duke Williams and Earl Wolfe are included in that group.

Value seems to be better at safety than corner right here, but that's probably because I haven't seen alot of the corners left play.

21 21 Cincinnati - Corrosion - D.J. Fluker OT Alabama
5 37 Cincinnati - Corrosion - Arthur Brown ILB Kansas State
23 53 Cincinnati - Corrosion - Johnathan Franklin RB UCLA

22 190 Cincinnati - Corrosion -
29 197 Cincinnati - Corrosion -

Safety and Center/Guard are two of their big needs still remaining. Probably should address Safety first.

Any of them three will do: Shawn, Earl, then Duke.

However, I like the potential of 3 other guys better.
I just post about it in Doppler's mock thread.

Corrosion said he was at a funeral...Said he wanted a DB if he wasn't back in time....

Im back .... Just walked in the door. I'll make my selection shortly , just need a few minutes to get my kids taken care of , get out of this clown suit and look over the DB's remaining.

Sorry for the delay ....

Just four picks until my next selection for the Texans .... Lets see if you guy's shake up my board again ... :smiliepalm:

I was kind of hoping that he fell to the Texans at this point in the draft.

Good player/Great leader.

At 119, the Redskins select OT Reid Fragel, Ohio St.

Fragel is a former TE, Great feet and work ethic. He was the strongest OT at the combine.

The Texansw should think about trading up to the end of the 3rd, top of the 4th rd and taking Fragel. He's fairly new to the OT position. Football seems to mean alot to Fragel. He would be an upgrade to Newton even if Newtons healthy. IMHO

He looks pretty good against Wisconsin and Illinois.
Doesn't look like a 6'8 guy at all as he plays with very good base.
