2012 NFL Draft Day 1: Round 1

Man, going to twitter is the new way of finding out who the pick is before it's announced. I'm going to stay off of it.

I think Poe is the next Vernon Gholston. Lots of eye popping numbers at the combine, great physical tools, but doesn't have the drive. Wouldn't be surprised if he's with another team in 3 years.

I agree 100%. He's playing weak competition and even the highlights they showed on ESPN was mostly the offensive line just missing blocks more than him doing anything.

Where can I see a list of ranked guys, to see the top rated guys that are still available???

Can't believe all this talk about Chandler Jones. He is not an early first round pick. Late first at best. Slow as hell off the snap.

Floyd is the only player in the draft I'd want the Texans to trade up for and would help set up our offense for awhile *as long as the QB situation is secure* otherwise I'd want to move back into the 2nd/3rd since theres a plethora of players that fit the Texans Defense and OLine needs there.
AJ on one side and Floyd on other might entice Matt to re-sign at lower contract in 2013.

I had a hunch twitter would result in that. It's the place for that early spoiler stuff. BAM! Some player or his buddy or a family member blasts it on twitter and everyone knows ahead of time.

the best that is left. We are going to have a few of these guys to choose from.

Michael Floyd WR Notre Dame (O)

That's a deep list. I don't see Houston trading up.

Adam Schefter. Glad he doesn't announce it live on TV before Goodell goes to the stage, but he does on Twitter.

Player may be going to different teams than predicted but still no new players busting in above #26 to surprise so far.

This is whats left that'd I'd want in the first

RT @NickScurfield: #Texans will face 5 of the top-10 picks in 2012: Luck (IND), Kalil (MIN), Blackmon (JAC), Tannehill (MIA), Gilmore (BUF)

From Houston texans mobile app twitter area

Floyd looks slow. Possession receiver. I like Wright and Randall better than him.

To me, he always finds ways to get past guys and once he gets the ball he's hard to stop. Looks a lot like AJ in many ways.

And is a hella' run blocker on the outside, too.

He would have been a gamer in Houston.

Pretty much how I expected it to go.

10 Second tier players that have very little chance of making it past the top 16
Ryan Tannehill QB Texas A&M (X)
Fletcher Cox DT Mississippi State
Luke Kuechly ILB Boston College
Stephon Gilmore CB South Carolina
Michael Floyd WR Notre Dame (O)
Melvin Ingram DE South Carolina (OLB)
David DeCastro OG Stanford
Mark Barron SS Alabama (X)
Donta' Hightower LB Alabama (OLB)
Dre Kirkpatrick CB Alabama (O)

Then you have 13 other players that all grade out about the same to go in the next 9 spots.

Michael Brockers DT LSU
Quinton Coples DE North Carolina
Dontari Poe NT Memphis
Courtney Upshaw LB Alabama
Riley Reiff OT Iowa
Whitney Mercilus DE Illinois
Nick Perry DE Southern California (OLB)
Andre Branch DE Clemson
Shea McClellin LB Boise State
Kendall Wright WR Baylor
Cordy Glenn G/T Georgia
Jerel Worthy DT Michigan State
Jonathan Martin OT Stanford
Janoris Jenkins CB North Alabama (O)

That leaves 4 of those players to be available at 26 and that is not counting surprise picks that happen every

Dang, I just saw Fisher in St Louis war room shaking hands and thought what is he doing there? Oh, snap.

Reiff or Glenn?

I can't tell, in my opinion, Reiff won't make it as an LT in the NFL and that knocks him out for me as I wouldn't take a RT that early in the draft. In my opinon it all depends if they think they can salvage their LT situation.

I think its going to be Johnathan Martin

If Perry, Upshaw, and Hill are still available at 26, what do we do?

The Rams are going to take some receivers in the second since they missed out on Floyd and Blackmon. Texans should go receiver in the first, depending on if Chicago and/or Cleveland taking the receivers they want.
