2010 Texans Mock Draft Tracker

DiehardChris

You betcha!
Some of you might recall I did this last year. It went pretty well.

The very early pre-Combine most popular first round pick was Aaron Maybin last year. Eventually though, after the Combine and leading up to the draft, Brian Cushing was at the top of the list, so it's 1 for 1 so far, heh.

Anyway, check it out. I'll be updating it often and probably adding many more mock drafts before the big day gets here:

Remind me how you do this? Most popular based on what?

I gather all the mock drafts I can find, and tally up each of their projected first round picks for the Texans. As I go along I kind of can tell which mocks are researched well and which ones are complete crap. At this early stage though, I cast a pretty wide net so there are a bunch that aren't very "reputable". Last year I had the total of mocks up around 80 and that's just too many and it's a lot harder for me to keep track of and update, so I'll probably keep it under 50 this year It's not a science, of course... just a fun offseason thing to keep up with.

I haven't added Kiper or McShay, Rob Rang, or several other ones who are considered "experts". I'll get around to it the closer we get.

Very, very impressive !

Is it possible to put on your website the final Draft Tracker for 2009? It would be very interesting to see which sites got Brian Cushing right and which were very far off on their selections from what the Texans fans thought at the time.

While I'm generating work for you . . . could you put the sites listed this year in a different text color, or ** the ones that got Brian Cushing right last year?

Thank you for the work that you are putting in on this . . . it is a huge effort and will really be appreciated the whole board.

Sure, it's still there - I just deactivated the link. You can see it here:

2009 Texans Mock Draft Tracker

The one from last year actually has them grouped by player - so if you scroll down past the percentage table, you'll see the next table has all the Cushing sites listed first.

If I misunderstood your question let me know, but I think that will clear it up. Thanks for reading!

Oh, wait - now I understand what you're saying. Put the ones that got Cushing right last year in a different font on this year's. I might do that at some point but probably after the Combine. :D

Chris, I enjoy visiting your site. Keep up good work!!!

Thanks! That's much appreciated.

Also - for a sample of what's to come in the offseason - here's how I handle all the crazy offseason goings on:

2009 Offseason Central

If you click the red links on that page, it will give you an idea of the stuff I do as far as keeping track of transactions in the offseason. I try to make it kind of a one-stop shop. I'm kind of an organizational freak. I'll have rumors posted - but only if I have a link that supports them.

Sometimes it comes in handy, and it never gets talked about in a lot of other places. For example, if you look at the "2009 Free agent visits & Rumors" table, you'll see that Cooper Carlisle, center for Oakland was going to visit before he was retained by the Raiders... that kind of clued me in that the Texans were interested in upgrading that position, despite their repeated claims that they were so deeply in love with Myers.

Anyway... the offseason is kind of my bread and butter with the blog. I get more traffic in April than I do during the season, so I try to do my best to have great draft/free agency, etc info.

Impressive work, DC.

The 09 links are "Not Found". I was unaware about the Carlisle rumors last season. I knew he had come in for a visit in 08(?) before signing with Oak.

I am very interested this off season in your rumors supported by link as it would be very helpful to me. I am interested in Richard Seymour Oakland but be very careful if you post anything or Infantrycak will flame you. Thanks for your hard work.

Aaaah!! Crap! Thanks for the heads up.

All the stuff from the 2009 Offseason Central is fixed now - sorry about that.

Updated 2/14
I added six new mocks.

Earl Thomas and Brian Price are rising... Dan Williams and Taylor Mays are dropping off. (Right now Williams is my top choice assuming the other guys I love are off the board, so I hope this turns around.)

Just wondering why you don't include Great Blue North Draft Report among the mocks you track? Colin Lindsay has had this draft site seeming since Al Gore invented the internets (BTW, he has Dan Williams going to the Texans).

I had it up there last year. The only reason is because we haven't gotten to the Combine yet. I'll add more periodically and after the Combine there will be more... but, thanks for the heads up - I will def. include this one on my next update.
