2009 NFL Draft Thread

that's exactly why we're rushing to judgement. we never ever heard of this guy ever ever before. have I said ever yet?

jesus. this is like last year when the Titans took William Hayes. He wasn't even on the player rankings on some draft site, hell he didn't even had a picture on his player bio on nfl.com. You couldn't find crap about him on google.

We drafted our own "Mr.X" this year. must have been 'effing karma for laughing my *** off last year at the Titans reaching for a nobody.

'Owen Daniels?!! Who the hell is that??!! Is he really the best TE left in the 4th Round?' I seem to remember similar comments a few years ago...now he's a Pro-Bowl TE.

I'm not saying you have to drink the Koolaid, but just b/c we've never heard of someone doesn't mean he won't be a great pick. Hey, I'm with you...I don't know the first thing about Quin but after watching that video of his highlights, he looks pretty good.

Granted it's a highlight reel, but that's all there is to see at this point...excellent in coverage, good play recognition, good tackler and is not afraid to deliver the big hit...could be a great future FS for us. Who knows? At the very least, I think the FO has proven that they can evaluate good talent in the later rounds...Until this pick proves otherwise, I'm okay with trusting their judgement.

How many teams left in the 4th are threats to take a RB? Maybe the Texans can wait until the 5th. Only 7 RBs selected, thus far. There's gonna be a run on RBs sometime. Right?

We will be able to draft a good power back with our next pick....

...which means you should expect a TE or OG.

This post describes our draft perfectly...hmmmmmm I guess the new savior of the Texans Connor Barwin is gonna take care of all our defensive inadequacies and give Slaton a break at RB.

or the league really thinks the RBs are not very good?

I was really pumped at the draft. That last pick took the winds out of my sails, I just feel flat now. Come on Texans, pick a good one.

yea, sure. are you trying to compare a prospect that was projected to go 7th/undrafted to a another prospect that top ten at his position in his draft and was projected to go mid-round? Both were drafted in the 4th, only one projected to go there.

Quin has a lot of potential if we're switching to a cover 2/ cover 3 zone scheme, but I haven't heard anything about us moving away from man to man.

Maybe some of you are right and they plan to use him as a FS.

Maybe he's Mario's cousin? He's from Houston, and he's supposed to be a good blocker. Certainly didn't expect a TE here, but I'll give Smith & Kubiak the benefit of the doubt.

Pretty clear that our FO doesn't think much of the RBs that are left OR they are convinced they have the heavy back in Chris Brown. C. Brown could certainly get the job done if he stays healthy, but I have ZERO confidence he can do that.

Wow...mailman...bingo

At least it helps the red zone production...we needed a quality tight end that could be a prowbowler....wait.......We have a TE that we dont throw to in the redzone and when we do we score.

Wait the great Barwin will punch it in.....

breuners replacement. blocker & skills. had an injury. similiar to OD in some ways

that's the way I see it. Plus what Lucky said about no one really grabbing any RBs at this time. Maybe our RB will still be around in the 5th.

Anthony Hill (TE)
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 262
College: North Carolina State
Conference: ACC
Hometown: Houston, TX
High School: Clear Brook/Hargrave

Anthony Hill is actually not a bad pickup here, maybe a little early but not bad of a pick. 6'6" 265-Lbs, I call him the poor mans Brandon Pettigrew. He didn't have a lot of yards receiving but he can block and take hits and is an imposing target.

Texans fans, you'll get your RB but later on in the draft b/c from what I know Kubes doesn't believe in taking RBs until the mid rounds.

Yeah, sure...you're trying to use projections that draft pundits make instead of realizing that actual scouts and coaches don't pay attention to that sort of thing....they make their own projections and value charts.

If hill is a good blocking TE then I can see the pick now. Iwas definitely thinking S or RB by this time, TE seems like a luxury pick.

projections are meaningless. the draft never goes even remotely close to plan and ultimately a player's true value is where he's drafted.
