2009 NFL Draft Thread

I think Belichik just told everyone where the value is in this class. four picks in the second....four picks in the third. The guy is a genius.

Takcs get Kenny Britt...unploished but with tons of potential. Micheal Johnson is still on the Board.

Ya I agree. I'm so worried that they pick up a Sintim or/and Brown.

Pats are the smartest team in the NFL.

Wonder if Rey Maualuga falls to us in the 2nd.

Wouldn't that be something... getting two of the top USC LBs!?

I don't expect us to trade up for anyone but if they see someone falling maybe we do. I highly doubt it. I hope we stand pat or trade down with our 2nd and take a DB like Butler, Alphonso, Sean Smith, William Moore, Patrick CHung, Rashad Johnson, etc.

For the 1st time since 1994 a Miami Hurricane was not selected in the 1st round; quite a streak.

For the first time since 1994, a University of Miami player is not expected to be taken in the first round of the NFL Draft. Here's a year-by-year look at Miami's 33 players (with overall selection and team):

1995: 1 Warren Sapp (12, Buccaneers).

1996: 1 Ray Lewis (26, Ravens).

1997: 3 Yatil Green (15, Dolphins); Kenard Lang (17, Redskins); Kenny Holmes (18, Titans).

1998: 1 Duane Starks (10, Ravens).

1999: 1 Edgerrin James (4, Colts).

2000: 1 Bubba Franks (14, Packers).

2001: 4 Dan Morgan (11, Panthers); Damione Lewis (12, Rams); Santana Moss (16, Jets); Reggie Wayne (30, Colts).

2002: 5 Bryant McKinnie (7, Vikings); Jeremy Shockey (14, Giants); Phillip Buchanon (17, Raiders); Ed Reed (24, Ravens); Mike Rumph (27, 49ers).

2003: 4 Andre Johnson (3, Texans); Jerome McDougle (15, Eagles); Willis McGahee (23, Bills); William Joseph (25, Giants).

2004: 6 Sean Taylor (5, Redskins); Kellen Winslow (6, Browns); Jonathan Vilma (12, Jets); D.J. Williams (17, Broncos); Vernon Carey (19, Dolphins); Vince Wilfork (21, Patriots).

2005: 1 Antrel Rolle (8, Cardinals).

2006: 1 Kelly Jennings (31, Seahawks).

2007: 3 Brandon Meriweather (24, Patriots); Jon Beason (25, Panthers); Greg Olsen (31, Bears).

2008: 1 Kenny Phillips (31, Giants).

Ziggy Hood to the Steelers.....third down relief guy let the lad use his spin move to rush the passer......See how big the lad grows.

Their went your boy to the cards Apple....

Delmas to Detroit. Chung to the Pats. A run on Safeties before the Texans pick @46?

If there's a run on safety I say screw it and draft Shonn Greene, we shouldn't reach for a need (safety) and atleast we'll have one area of the team sowed up.

St. Louis Cardinals select Laurenitis??? Anyways, I'm suprised at the fact that players like Laurenitis and Everette Brown weren't taken in the 1st round and that guys like Eric Wood and Ziggy Hood moved up to the 1st.

nobody moved up...moved up from what? Mock drafts?

Michael Johnson in the second rd?

Told ya.

Now that I've danced on my Rey Maualgua freinds and neighbors.....let me just post this:

the USC LB with the Monkey on hs back is Clay III. What we know for a fact as of today....the one resposible for the Babins deal.....was Dom Cappers. And damned if Ted Thompson didn't let him talk him into doing the same thing all over again. Only cost them a sixeth.....but still. Casserly was in the room.......Dom Capers was stirring the stew . I think Mathews will become a great will backer.....unlike babins. But the pattern is there. And Dom Capers can not help him self. He isn't patient. And should be no where near a draft war room. Just roll the guys out in august and show him who he has got.

Michael Johnson in the second rd?

Maybe...if he's still there he may just have too much talent to pass on...value is prob right at that spot.

At this point, I would be happy with any of the following players (which prob means we won't get any of them even if they're still available, LOl)

Max Unger
Alphonso Smith
Everette Brown
Michael Johnson
Darius Butler

I know...and its getting real old. They always get everything right.

Personally I think the Pats should have taken Melauga or Lauranitis.

I can't believe that both of these guys went to the 2nd round. St. Louis got a steal with baby animal.

Some team out there is about to get a big time steal with Melauga.

I had the Chargers taking Hood at 16 and the Steelers taking Wood at 32. But I had E. Brown going 28 to Buffalo and Laurinaitis in the top half of the 2nd round.
