2009 NFL Draft Thread

Dude's from Pennsylvania originally. I don't think of him as a West coast surfer boy.

Actually, IIRC he is from Jersy. Now was he born in PA and moved to Jersy......don't know. Supposed to be a real blue collar type guy who works real hard at being good at football and is smart. Health is only issue IMO.

They need Ayers. He's my favorite pass rusher in the draft and the Broncos can't expect to compete with the Chargers with Elvis Dumervil as their best D-lineman.

Glad to hear that, I love blue collar workers. I can't say I'm sold on Cushing, but I look forward to having a good pass rushing 'backer.

should be interesting around these parts. don't remember the last time there's been any excitement about a young QB here in Tampa

Dilfer was the last one I can think of. The Bucs are 1 for 3 with their 1st round QB picks. Williams being the only one they hit on. Both Dilfer and Testeverde were busts. Young was a 1st round supplemental draft choice however he didn't pan out for them either.

John McClain:

We just spoke with Frank Bush. He said Cushing will play the strong side, the same as Zac Diles. They liked Cushing over Matthews because he's stronger, more intense and better stopping the run. Cushing has the kind of intensity the Texans have been wanting.

I think we are going to get a starting safety in the next round. Time to get stoked about our defense guys.

Well, I've gotten these picks right so far (sorta with the Bucs):

1. Detroit Lions- Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia
2. St. Louis Rams- Jason Smith, OT, Baylor
9. Green Bay Packers- BJ Raji, DT, Boston College
14. New Orleans Saints- Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio State
19. Tampa Bay Bucaneers- Josh Freeman, QB, Kansas St.
20. Detroit Lions- Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma State

Pettigrew? OK. Could be a good pick.

Could be a good pick. But a TE doesn't fix your franchise. I'd have gone Oher. Protect that $41 million man behind your line first. Give him the throwing options second (I know Pettigrew is a good blocker, but still). Their running game is broke, so fix it at the front first.

I kind of like the Pettigrew pick. He's a great blocker and another big target for their young QB.

I'm hoping Rashad Johnson or William Moore... maybe Patrick Chung

Vikings take Percy Harvin! Did yall see Roger Goodell after he said that? He looked pissed. Walked off looking in the audience (maybe at the Vikings camp?) and kind of pursed his lips. LOL

Cushing on the phone... Brian Cushing is smiling.

Yeah but the mother wasn't. Maybe she was sad to her baby leaving the nest....or the NFL and the Texans just comdenmed him to hades. LOL.

I have faith in Smith. the number was twenty-five.....for five years now when the sent five or six no one got there......ever. What they are telling you is that Cushing will. Cushing was sronger against the rush, and he's smart...

I believe Mathews had the higher up side...Cushing was the safer pick.

Percy and Peterson in the wildcat? Mayock just said that and I thought, wow how scary.

If the Pats take Everette Brown I might die a little inside.

This has been one bizarre shake up. I can't believe Oher is falling this far.

And. The lions are a joke. I know that either britton, beatty, or oher will be there, but damn.

I believe Marhews had the hiher up side...Cushing was the safer pick.

I think the Cushing pick shows you that they want to use one of their LBs alot like Cushing was used at USC.
