2009 NFL Draft Thread

"more Cushing for the pushing"

LOLOLOL. Horrible pun. I actually dig Cushing as a player, only thing I fear was the steroids rumor. Kubiak and Smith picking him means that it was just that, a rumor. I'm psyche for Cushing.

As a guy that had a ponytail for several years, I'm not bothered by the ponytail.

I'm afraid of the durability questions.

But, he's my guy now. So I'm behind the pick.

I'm not being negative..I'm wrong about these things...but this pick could be their undoing of it doesn't work and the durability stuff gets to me. I just think it was a soso pick.

I'm content. Although the injury concerns might be a problem, I believe that a 1 year starter and combine freak is more worrisome to me. I approve of the pick:fans:

This a very solid pick that should be able to contribute with numbers right away. Now, we just need to see if Cushing was the guy to make the rest of the USC LBs go. Cushing is the prototypical OLB if you ever had to draft one. When healthy, he's not far behind Curry, if at all. He just needs to stay healthy.

I dont know what the problem is with pony tails. At least its not a giant bushel of dreds hanging out of his helment.

Also I know everyone hates ESPN but their coverage so far is blowing away the NFL's.

AGREE! Cush was the #2 ranked OLB in most Football publications. I like it! I think he is value here! Also, I didn't mind a trade down, but maybe the Texans couln't get a partner or the offers!

The NFL Network does a good job, but there's too many commercials. There's almost no time to analyze the pick.

Is that a good Vinny? Sorry, I'm not intouch with my NFL history. What's your thoughts on Cushing?

I'm not Vinny but...

Romanowski was a mean SOB that drove the SF and Denver defenses when he was there. He was a hitter and he was hard working.

Had some issues with drugs from what I recall, though.

Wow, the Chargers' pick is kind of shocking.

Now that I've calmed down about the Texans' pick at least they didn't reach. I'd have much, much rather had Oher, but I understand why they didn't take him. I really hope they had no good trade offers, but assuming not, I guess Cushing was the best option.

from some guy on Sportsline, fwiw:

Houston Texans select: Brian Cushing, ILB, Southern California

Analysis: I love this kid. I have for a long time. Adding him to the front seven is a great move for the Texans. He will be a 10-year starter and a Pro Bowl player in three years.

ooh, intriguing. I hope the comparison wasn't also due to the drugs issue. But that would be a great if Cushing can be like Romanowski, player-wise. Thanks for the info.

I was tinking the same thing. Could of shown a little more exitement. He's probably thinking of how crappy the surfing is in Galveston. Hope we dont regret this a few years from now.

Dude's from Pennsylvania originally. I don't think of him as a West coast surfer boy.

should be interesting around these parts. don't remember the last time there's been any excitement about a young QB here in Tampa
