2009 NFL Draft Thread

Mods, you can delete this if there is a thread like this already...I just wanted to start a thread where everyone can post there views on the draft and picks during and after the 2009 NFL Draft.

As mentioned on TTalk already, the Lions and Matthew Stafford have agreed to a six year $78 million with $41..7 million in gurantees. Huge sum of money, I just hope this works out for the Lions who have been dismal for way to long. Iv'e been reading the Lions message board and the Yahoo Sports blog and everyone is feeling negative about this pick. I'll admit I'm no fan of Stafford but given time I think he can become a solid pro.

Wow. That equals to $35,616.43 a day for the next six years. I don't give a damn who he is, he is over paid. We need a rookie salary cap in this league.

I agree but maybe an alternative that might work is give more power to the GM and the teams when they write out the contract and put certain clauses in which state that if you accomplish so-and-so many yards or lead the team to a playoff you get a bonus of such-and-such amount instead of dishing out a huge sum when the player hasn't played in 4-5 months.

Well, NFL.com is going to stream the draft but if you want to watch NFL Network right now you might have to Google for links or search for it on OVGuide.com...if I find a working link I'll post it.

I dont know of any others, but justin tv is working. Just go to justin.tv and click american football then watch the insigniatv channel and soak up the pre draft feed.

Are they going to stream their draft coverage? If so, thats great. I can have the TV on ESPN and the computer streaming their draft coverage!
And is it free?

Yep, its free...just go to the home page of NFL.com and click the second picture on the right hand side and they well put up a link when the draft begins.

Thanks, I won't be able to get to a TV when it comes on, so that was a big help.
 
i havent paid attention at all to the draft this year and i don't know much about any of the players. maybe it has something to do with the dolphins picking in the 20s for the first time in....300 years?

LOL...Miami is picking 25th overall in the 1st Round. The Phins' have drafted some busts in the past but with the Tuna in charge, I think its all about to change!

It's funny watching Matthew Stafford getting booed while being introduced by NFL Network...welcome to the NFL Stafford! BTW, last season was the end to the 50 year old Bobby Layne curse so its going to be interesting to see the Lions down the road.
 
i can see why people in New York would boo a quarterback from Georgia. afterall, he--oh wait no that's idiotic

nah they boo players that they feel are overrated. i have no idea why though

it's not their team that's picking them. the lone Lions fans there were cheering for Stafford

they did it with Mario Williams, too.

I was wrong but that was the best pick for the rams.
 
I've got Curry going to the Chiefs too. Wonder if they go Tyson Jackson like the talking heads think. Gawd I love the Draft!!!!
 
J. Smith move is good. I'm waiting for someone to trade up for Sanchez sometime soon..I think it'll be a good move too. Curry is going here now though.
