Just while we are sitting here...Justice today said Jacoby wasn't big or fast...track guy who returns kics..maybe it was tongue in cheek.
crowded backfield in NO now.
waisted pick for them.
Someone posted a link to an article yesterday on Jacoby and it was basically saying he could be the steal of the draft. I hope that assessment is correct. It'd be nice to find a gem on D last year (Ryans) and a gem on O (Jones) this year. We don't need no stinkin' 2nd round pick.![]()
it would be if it was a first round pick...but teams generally take a back yearly or eoy at least...it's just a high injury/short career type position. I thought it was a good pick since I think he makes the roster and has something to offer and was good value here.waisted pick for them.
He looked good to me when I saw some clips....looks like a natural wr with some yac ability.Just while we are sitting here...Justice today said Jacoby wasn't big or fast...track guy who returns kics..maybe it was tongue in cheek.

all you are likely to get on the second day of the draft are back up types with the hope that they may mature into a starter at some point...most second day picks can't come in and start....so, they may just like his long term value over some back up linebacker (or plug in the need) left on the boardI understand that, I guess I was thinking there were higher players on the board that would also feed a need.

CRAP!![]()
Cool, I like the trade down to acquire an extra pick! Mr. Smith must have alot of players listed in his board!![]()
They traded up to pick him.
any idea who he is targeting?
Sorry, not sure, but I think it will be a DB, I hope!![]()

Whoever we get, it will be someone who Kubes and Smith thinks can contribute right away on special teams. Something to keep in mind.
Texans are now on the clock...
Rufus Alexander or Doug Free would potentially be great values here and guys who could play next year. A sleeper that I'd like to see...Troy Smith. If Schaub doesn't work out, would be nice to have an ace in the hole.
Dang, the Packers just grabbed Alan Barbe with their 4th. He's an excellent candidate for the ZB. No surprise then they got him.
Look for us to consider Adam Koets, Doug Free, & Otto (forget first name), with our 4th or 5th rounder. Those guys are all good fits in the ZB schemes.
Overall: Bennett appeared in all 12 games as a true freshman in 2003 as a reserve defensive back and on special teams, finishing the season with eight total tackles. In 2004, he played in all 11 games and recorded 32 total tackles, two tackles for loss, four interceptions, three pass breakups, and one fumble recovery. Bennett then underwent off-season shoulder surgery. He returned for all 12 games (10 starts) in 2005 and made 31 total tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, three interceptions, 10 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one blocked kick.
Bennett lacks ideal hip fluidity as a pure cover corner, but he's not strong or aggressive in run support to bulk up and make the move to safety. He also comes with some durability baggage due to his shoulder surgery. However, he still possesses an impressive combination of height and speed, which gives him a chance
Positives: Tight-skinned prospect with adequate muscle definition. Rare height for the position. Aggressive man-to-man cover corner. Effective jam of the receiver at the line of scrimmage. Rare speed down the field, especially for a corner of his size. Loses a step in transition, but has long speed and a second gear when the ball is in the air. Uses his hands well to break up the pass. Adequate awareness in zone coverage. Good burst to close on the ball. Athleticism and size combination make for an exciting upside. Not a finished product.
Negatives: Despite Bennett's size, he lacks toughness versus the run. Will react to the run and come up to support, but is more than willing to stand and let others do the dirty work. Rarely takes on blocks, choosing to run around them. No missed tackles on the games viewed, but tends to duck his head and swipe at the ball-carrier's feet rather than squaring up and driving his opponent to the ground. Good straight-line speed, but loses a step in transition and can struggle to blanket more agile or quality route-running wideouts.
His negative of not wanting to hit an RB worries me a bit. Remember P-Burnt.
Overall though I like the pick.

Always amazes me how on negative reviews you can find the bright spot![]()
think he is an upgrade over what we have and starter?
Honestly I don't know enough about him to say, but I'm learning to trust the FO this year. THAT is weird to say...ha ha
