2007 NFL Draft Day One Thread

New Orleans Wr?
Naw, they've got Reggie bush, remember? :cowboy1:
Every mock draft was blown to shambles halfway through this first round. Meachem must be at or near the top of most draft boards, but I can see Branch, Houston, Pozlusky, Harris, Staley or even McCauley going here.

So count all those guys out. :gun:

Well guys, I've got to head out for few hours. I'm sure you'll let me know if I miss anything. Would be great to come back and hear that Smith engineered the "trade of all trades" Won't hold my breath though. Asserly has given me a "draft twitch" to go along with my other nervous twitches. :tease:

If you stop to think about it, this makes sense. Their offense will come at people fast and furious. The Saints could be the next Greatest Show On Turf.

They'd better look to their defense for the rest of day, however.

I agree with that assesment.

Only problem is they have to face horn and Atl twice a year and after the leadership he showed that team he will want to kill them twice a year.

I will dring a cold one for ya. :toast2:

NE on the clock I will go out on a limb and say Kalil C uSCUM.
Your Golden Dome is showing. :wild:

I'll go out on a limb adjacent to yours and say that whoever they pick will work out just fine and the rest of the league will get their yearly lesson on Draft Strategy 101 courtesy of the Patriots.

yeah, giving horn his walking papers was wrong, you dont do that to a vet like him, after he's been on all of those bad teams through all those bad times.

now he has every reason to go all out against the saints :bat:

Hell I was wearing my ND #3 jersey while waiting for Quinn to go of course after the Texans picked cause I was wearing my Mario Jersey.

He was one of the more vocal against the old commish about him screwing the team so hard in wake of Katrina, I did not have a lot of respect for Horn until the last two years. I respect him more than 90% of the NFL players now.

is it me or has this frist round been really slow this year? I mean its 440 cst and we are still in the first round!

I remember when the Patriots picked Logan Mankins, i didnt watch it firsthand but when i heard about it and couldnt help but think 'huh'?

"Well, he's a football player"

eagles trade out of first round?
interesting. #36 #87 and #159 for Anthony Spencer. they gonna convert him to LB or what?

It was not a bad move by San Fran. they still have there second and thrid this year and next years will be from 20 to 30.

yeah, first i thought it would end up bad for them because lately the 9ers have been picking pretty high, but then i remembered they've spent a lot in FA and have a young developing team. Maybe playoffs for them next year in a watered down NFC?

The value of the trade depends on how well they do next year

what happened to alan branch? I bet the colts will snatch him up at #32.

They need to stop the run, so would not be a surprise.

Does Drew supply drugs to da U or something??

edit: what about Pulosny or Houston they lost both corners and Cato june??

about that LB from Penn Sate, Puzlu-something he's too slow to be a good cover 2 linebacker. Also I've heard he just sucks in coverage, so he wouldnt not be a replacement for june.

The guys on the colts board seem to want a slot guy or a run stopping DT, so branch or one of the receivers still left might fit the bill

Hey y'all. Draft party was fun.

Not meaning to spam the board, but I have to say that the FanHouse ongoing coverage of the draft is pretty entertaining:

NFL FanHouse

Basically, they say the same thing as national folks say but are more smartazzes about it.

I will post some cool video later.

Nice meeting thems that I met!

49ers have done pretty well today. I like their draft.
Things are looking grim indeed. Hailing from Long Beach and stuck here now in Fresno (niners and Raiders Country), I've always hated the niners, enough to use lower case when referencing them.

Don't get me wrong; I don't hate the players. It is the franchise itself, and whatever unholy force of evil it answers to, that I wish to see cast into the abyss.

But they've done well. They might win six games next year. I hope they choke on them.

--------

On a more positive note, we didn't screw up our first pick this year - unlike previous years, and more recently unlike how one particular seaworthy soccer-ball-nose-bumping-for-salmon team did.

Odds are the Dolphins didn't pick Ted Ginn, Jr. to save us from ourselves, but I'm grateful none the less. Of course I hope Ginn doesn't get broken in half, but I can't help think that sooner or later he'll be running incredibly fast into something much bigger than him running straight towards him, low and fast - and he will never be the same.

One pick later we took a teenage multilingual Nigerian immigrant with incredible potential and appreciation for hardship. A die-hard. A young talent with determination, desire and more reason to succeed than anyone you or I or anyone else born in this Country can relate to.

Okoye is young and raw and needs to learn and grow, to realize his full potential. The same could be said for the Texans. This is a nice fit.

Good job Rick Smith.

Wish I could have been there. I owe you a drink for being so cool and with all the info you provide. Glad you had fun. :doot:

It would make my day if we could work a trade up (without getting screwed) and get Kalil. Or Houston or Blalock.

Absolutely Make My Day.
