2007 NFL Draft Day One Thread

I like it. Now we'll have approximately 97 percent of our '07 salary cap tied up in the defensive line.

Just kidding...I actually do think this kid's phenomenal and although it doesn't address the top 2 needs, it's still a serious improvement.

IOW, bye Travis.

so 3 years in a row on D line first rounders.

If travis can turn into even a mediocre player i like the D-line going into next year.

Weaver, okoye, TJ and Mario, with Babin in on passing situations.

wooo hoo! :fans:

My wife said on Thursday "The Texans will take some 18 year old kid right out of college."

I said "Oh really? 18 right outta college huh? You sure you don't mean high school? LOL"

"Nope he is some psychology major or something like that.''

I knew who he was but not sure how she did.

Your rubbing off on your wife.

I wish the FO would've addressed a position of need rather than going DL AGAIN. This guy could just as easily be the next TJ and we still don't know what MW will do if anything. I would've rather have seen something to address the DB's at least.

Like the kid, can't complain. Overall though I'm disappointed in not trading down..must of not had offers...and I think DB might have been a better call.

Also consider this: if his former coach needed to draft a defensive lineman and passed him over, what does that say about the guy?

The more I think about this pick the more I like it. Okoye will help our secondary by teaming with Mario Williams to create disruption, havoc and fear. Only nineteen years old, intelligent and mature beyond his years, I think we may have found a gem.

I didn't like any of the CB's at the ten spot. There hasn't been a run on either CB or WR as of yet - we may find value near the top of the third round.

Hey, Okoye is from Lagos, Nigeria. Remember the last guy who was from Lagos, Nigeria and played in Houston? Hakeem Olajuwon. I like this pick.

if dude lives up to the hype I'll change my screen name to Okoye........

and with more speed at LB, I think we'll see more QB pressure next year! :d: :splits:

I don't like it, I would have traded down even if I only got to swap 1st round picks and their 2nd rounder. I am tired of experiments with players, we need players that are as close to a lock as possible and we needed to add picks.

Does Quinn fall all the way to Jacksonville?

we've got some decent speed at LB, greenwood and ryans are pretty fast.

:d: :d: :d:

I think Okoye will make an instant impact, and he's the type of character guy the FO loves. :texflag:

Great choice OK! I was hoping we address our DT this yr, I wasn't feeling it with a WR or DB for #10! And I wouldn't want to get screwed in a trade with another team! Thank-you Mr. Smith!:mail:

Buffalo also passes on Quinn. The Rams might take him. Carolina just picked up Carr, Pittsburgh has Roethlisberger, Green Bay will pass. If he gets past the Rams and Jags, it could be Aaron Rodgers redoux.

After many had him going #1 overall to the Raiders and never making past the fishies.

It is to laugh.

I'm back out of bed, it is now a more respectable 6.30am and I have left the wife with baby Aria in bed.

Been a fascinating draft so far, St Louis to take Alan Branch.

Hey there have been stranger picks.

Has anyone noticed that corner hasn't been taken yet?

Looking like some of you have them overrated.

I have no problem at all with the Okoye pick. Kubiak's complaint all last season was that there wasn't enough push up the middle. That complaint has been addressed.

this is just wrong. I am crying for my ND boy.
Save your tears. He'll still be a millionaire, and in a better situation than he would've been had the Raiders taken him.

What keeps tickling me is that faced with the choice, the Fins chose Stickman Ginn over Kastofsna's Annointed One.

If the Schaub deal hadn't gone down do you think he would have got past us??

Just one of the many what ifs I guess.

I keep waiting for ESPNradio to break out that song "i'm free, freefalling" as it comes out of ad break, it would be hilarious.

Still no cornerbacks taken. Anyone noticing a trend?
Yeah. The trend is that the CBs aren't worth high first round picks. There isn't even a consensus on which is the better of a mediocre lot.

Once the floodgates open we'll see a rash of them being picked.
