Now that the pre-draft bulldust has settled, what do you see as Texans highest priorities?
Some will advocate for BPA at some if not all positions and that is a sound philosophy, but for a rebuilding team, it's not the only one.
NC has done a pretty good job during the off season filling in some glaring holes, now it's time to look to the future with a fresh influx of young talent to hopefully help fill out the roster.
Obviously, the biggest need is for a franchise QB.
He may not be in this draft, but it is still our highest priority.
Next, Texans need a quality pass rusher to attract double teams - preferably two.
Our wide receiver corp is a mish mash of #2's and 3's without a true #1 threat to take the top off defenses.
Our Oline should be better but the center play was substandard. An upgrade at the anchor position should give our line a boost - we gotta get better if our QB corp is to be effective and also improve our running game.
LB is another area of need.
And our DLine needs a big bull in there to give our line some starch.
These are the main ones as I see them - now you get your turn with some votes and posts.

EDIT - you get up to 3 votes!

You have to focus on what you can control and what is available. Then balance that with your needs and who is BPA when you pick.

Things this team can control:

Offensive system with defined player profiles that leads to a track record of success.

Defensive coaching staff with track record of success developing talent with defined player profiles.

Highest needs:

QB
DE
C
WR

1) Lets start with QB.

This team can control:

A QB friendly system. It is plausible a rookie can start and have success in this offense. There are prospects available who fit the profile to have success in this offense day 1. Those are Stroud/Young. Then there are prospects who may be able to start day 1. But they would most likely be best served sitting for all or most of this season. Levis, Richardson and Hooker. This need can be filled in the draft early.

2) DE

This team has coaches with a track record of success developing pass rushers. This draft is exceptionally deep with a wide variety of pass rushers. You can get your day 1 cornerstone piece (Your Nick Bosa piece) or you can get a nice rotational piece with upside to develop into a solid starter (think the Samson Ebukam type in this category). There is a reason the most glaring hole on the roster is QB and DE right now. There are plenty of prospects available at these positions to fill the role where the team is picking.

3) C

This team has a blocking scheme that has been extensively studied. Lots of players/coaches have experience running this scheme which means there is a clearly defined player profile to successfully fill this position. The Texans can fill this need in the draft with a long term starter on day 2. Or they can test the talents of their coaching staff developing talent and their scouts finding it and find a diamond in the rough later that can develop into a starter. I’d like to hit this early to solidify the OL for the young QB.

4) WR

Yes, this team does not have a clear WR1. Yes, they don’t have that classic field stretcher. But this draft does not have a prospect worth pick 12 that fits the profile this team is looking for. The offense can run efficiently this season without that player. Draft a prospect on day 3 with upside and see if you can hit. If it doesn’t look promising, you have two first round picks next year to address to take this offense to the next level. Don’t force a need pick here. Take what the board gives you and you’ll get the best team.

Looks like a lot of Will Anderson fans out there!
Me too, but I am bowing to the QB gods.
If Bryce Young is there, we have to take him.

I like Van Ness too but he is raw compared to Anderson.
Yes, he's raw. He's coming out as a sophomore and was only 240 pounds as a freshman. I like him for his tremendous upside. Give him two years of NFL coaching and weight room to gain strength and a few more pounds. He also can play inside as well as outside, which fits Ryan's defense to a T.

I want a true DE. Anderson is a 34 OLB, or maybe a WILL or SAM in a 43 defense.

We can trade down from 1-2 and maybe get a third one, this year; or a two this year and a one next year. And still get Van Ness.

Myles Murphy could play a traditional DE - he has the size.

Yes. Murphy, Wilson, VanNess. I like all three, I just like VN the most for his huge upside potential. But I also have Murphy and Wilson going off the board before #12.

Do not know the reasons, but Wilson and Murphy did not do agility drills at the combine or their pro day. VN performed well in everything except Bench Press. He needs a year in an NFL training room to gain some strength.

All three had 7 sacks in '22, so no edge there for Murphy or Wilson.

Murphy hamstring and Tyree foot.

Priorities based on need;

(1) QB - Young or Stroud.
(2) Edge - Best available. Deep position in this draft.
(3) Center - Schmitz/Avila/Tippman.

I would be OK with WR at 2 or 3 but I don't see as big a need as edge and center. However, the Center position is not very deep.
