I had a high expectation for this to be a WR even before the Cooks trade because I expected Cooks to get moved at some point anyway.i would've said only edge rusher at 12 before today. I think WR along with edge rusher is on the table with the Cooks trade now tho.
You gotta admit, it is hard to pass up on multi-talented players - like killing two birds with one stone.1) the sexy pick is Bjan Robinson 2) the prudent pick is Quentin Johnson 3) logical pick is Calijah Kancey or Lukas Van Ness
Johnson probably has the highest ceiling of all the WRs, could be really special with good coaching. Bjan would be fantastic, but I doubt he makes it to 12.1) the sexy pick is Bjan Robinson 2) the prudent pick is Quentin Johnson 3) logical pick is Calijah Kancey or Lukas Van Ness
They could draft BPA the entire next two drafts and not hit them all.Take BPA. This team will most likely have a need at whatever position it will be.
I said the same thing last year. They could go BPA straight down the board.Take BPA. This team will most likely have a need at whatever position it will be.
Keep forgetting about this dude b/c he didn't play last year. Known more as a polished route runner ,Adding JSN in with a young offensive core of Bryce, Pierce Metchie & Nico...Would'm leaning toward JSN,
That was before his injury in 2022 season, correct?Depends, if they draft Stroud I think itll be smart to pick Njigba. His stats in the rose bowl are just insane.
I’d love to have a healthy Njigba as well. Emphasis on the healthy..Depends, if they draft Stroud I think itll be smart to pick Njigba. His stats in the rose bowl are just insane.
If njigba-smith hadn't been injured, I would have been okay with him at pick two.I’d love to have a healthy Njigba as well. Emphasis on the healthy..
He’s a special talent for sure..If njigba-smith hadn't been injured, I would have been okay with him at pick two.
I reckon Wilson will be gone at 12, so I am betting it will be either Van Ness or Murphy.IF they go QB at #2, I'm hoping that Wilson or Murphy will be BPA at 12
I think he'll be gone also, but if QB's go early someone will dropI reckon Wilson will be gone at 12, so I am betting it will be either Van Ness or Murphy.
Murphy is looking like a likely pick at 12.I think he'll be gone also, but if QB's go early someone will drop
LOL.. that’s why draft day is so much fun. Watching all of you draftniks jump out of windows with grief every year is so entertaining. But then you hit the whole thing about everyone having their own subjective measurements for who the BPA actually is.
Yep - we got to get more pressure on the QB and give our spiffy DBs a chance at the rock.I'd rather have an edge. If things work out like expected and CAR takes Stroud and the Texans get Young, he's proven he can be successful with starting WR's who aren't Rd1/Rd2 level draft picks.
Lets go back to Deshaun Watson. He got hurt in his senior year and played with a torn ACL. When he got drafted he absolutely EXPLODED for us (until he tore it again). But my point is that Jaxon can play and this kid has chemistry with Stroud. Jaxon WITH 2 Pro receivers around him (Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson) still managed to put up 1606 yards receiving as a 3rd slot receiver. Then with him as the Number 1 receiver (Rose Bowl Game), he puts up 15 receptions, for three touchdowns and 347 YARDS. When this kid is fully healthy. HE IS HIM!That was before his injury in 2022 season, correct?
Young and Metchie had a few years together as well. That guy CJ that is throwing him the ball is deadly accurate. Anyone know that guy? He might make a decent QB. I'd have no qualms about seeing this duo for the next decade.
That was Young's Heisman year. Metchie had 96/1142/8. And he was WR2. I would take that.Young and Metchie had a few years together as well.
So if CJ is the pick and we wind up with JSN We’re destined to get a duo.
This team still needs a WR1, but Metchie's strength is his route running so expecting him to be a very solid WR2 even if from the slot.Yup, either way we're getting a college duo. Either CJ/JSC or Bryce/Metchie. I'd bet money it's one or the other. Leaning toward Bryce simply because I feel Panthers more likely go CJ.
Still concerned Metchie will never reach his capabilities but crossing all fingers and toes.
I'm just expecting him to live a full and decent life. Anything he gives to the Texans or another team is just icing on top of the cake. Let's not lose sight of his cancer diagnosis. And all due respect to modern medicine, but these cancer treatments are very tough on a body. I'm rooting for him, I'd love to see him ball out. But am I expecting it? Not really. I think Nick and company need to consider him like manna from heaven. If it works, he's a good problem to have. If he can't cut it due to the cancer/treatments/recovery time needed...then it's expected and you move on for 2023 and hope for next year or just cut him loose if you must. This team still needs a WR1, but Metchie's strength is his route running so expecting him to be a very solid WR2 even if from the slot.
I am all in on a top cb pick 12 .I think we all need to move on from the #2 pick as pretty much all of us believe the Texans are going qb there. I think the more intriguing pick is #12. With that in mind, what do you guys think we'll do at #12 assuming they pick the qb at 2?
Three potential solutions could be there for the solution. This team still needs a WR1, but Metchie's strength is his route running so expecting him to be a very solid WR2 even if from the slot.
I have to respect your dedication to the idea of trading Collins for Mims. It borders on obsessive at this point.Three potential solutions could be there for the solution.
1. Use Nico Collins to obtain Denzel Mims from the Jets. This could be a win for both teams.
2. Use the 12th pick on Quentin Johnston, and move Mims to WR2.
3. Trade the 12th and pick Jalin Hyatt later in RD1. Mims is WR1 and Hyatt is WR2b.
It puts size and speed outside while giving Metchie the slot to work from.
The Texans need a WR1 with take the top off defenses speed…..the Jets just happen to have one.I have to respect your dedication to the idea of trading Collins for Mims. It borders on obsessive at this point.

He’s not a WR1. If he were, he’d have been playing more.
Not a darn thing. They’ve not utilized a weapon they drafted. What has Mims done as a pro?
I’d do the standard 6th with a 7th round and player in return deal for Mims. Nothing more, nothing less. Not a darn thing. They’ve not utilized a weapon they drafted.
He was drafted 59th overall in 2020. Missed camp due to a hamstring injury. Put on IR and didn’t return until WK7 to make his debut.
Both 2021-2022 he found himself in the HC’s doghouse and under utilized. Not much word as to why this happened.
Biggest note against him was some concentration drops during his first three seasons. Based on the amount of targets over that span….not a big enough issue.
Jets drafted two more WR’s higher in the draft 2021 and 2022:
2021 / RD2-34: Elijah Moore (Ole Miss)
2022 / RD1-10: Garrett Wilson (Ohio St)
What I did like from his (3) seasons were his average per catch; 20- 15.5 / 21- 16.6 / 22- 16.9. Need to get him the ball more often, and you can’t do that having him ride the bench. New coach Hackett feels like the team can salvage Mims, but I’m guessing a good option might open them up to trade talks.
Nico Collins was my big target in the draft. Nico has looked good when he stayed on the field. Solid possession receiver and good Red Zone target. Nico’s negative is his ability to stay healthy.
2021: G- 14 / GS- 8
2022: G- 10 / GS- 7
Maybe a change of scenery helps both players reach their original potential.
Why would the Jets trade for an oft injured player? That is such a Texans move. Not a darn thing. They’ve not utilized a weapon they drafted.

Both teams would be trading for players who've not reached their projected upside. Jets could use a possession receiver and the Texans could use WR1/WR2 type. Why would the Jets trade for an oft injured player? That is such a Texans move.
I get that. Just saying that a big part of Collins not reaching his potential is his availability. He's missed 10 games in two seasons. Both teams would be trading for players who've not reached their projected upside. Jets could use a possession receiver and the Texans could use WR1/WR2 type.
