Can someone please explain to me why the Texans are wearing the 10 year patch on their jerseys this season..This is the 11th season and wearing something to commemorate a 10th season during the 11th season to me makes no sense at all..And before someone says it is 2002-2012, yeah, that still makes no sense.. that is 11 years. I wonder who's brilliant idea that was.. would have been great last season with them making the playoffs.. but this year, that patch makes no sense...

You don't celebrate 1000 yds rushing when you have 950 yds. Until they completed last season they had not been in the league 10 years. Now they have.
I guess you are right, but then should that have read 2002-2011, as that would have been 10 full seasons.

Well, we're getting really technical here, but in that spirit, the 10th season wasn't concluded until 2012 (Jan. 1 if you're talking the regular season, January 15 if you're talking the season in total).
Unless the inception of something is January 1, the first 10 years of something will be completed during 11 calendar years. If your born on 1/2/2002, you complete your 10th year of life on 1/1/2012 (and celebrate your 10th birthday on 1/2/2012).

The first reason was the lockout. They weren't sure the season was going to happen. Once the agreement was signed in late July it was too late for any preparations as training camp was about to start.
The second reason was that there wasn't a reason to celebrate since the Texans have been mediocre the first nine years of their existence. Winning the division last year finally gave the organization a reason to have an anniversary patch.

FOOTBALL SEASON for fans is from Sept to Jan, Feb for a couple lucky teams. I'm with Hobie, this should have been done LAST year, during our 10th year. So much for COMMON SENSE reasoning though! I don't really give a hoot about the league year!
That said, I have a 5 yr patch, thanks to one of our TT posters, and I will get a 10 yr patch Sat at the store. We've completed 10 full years in the league, so I guess it's all good, and just a matter of how ya look at it.

The really irksome thing for me is people not understanding that "Midnight" is actually the morning of a day, not the end of a day. So when these idiots running theater schedules say that a movie is showing at midnight on Thursday, it's really midnight on Friday.

It's not really that hard. If you were born in June of 82, then you just turned 30 years old in 2012 even though you're in your 31st year. The Texans are 10 years old until they complete their 11th season which is this year.

This thread sucks. Now if they'd done the 10 year thing last year, we could have started a thread griping about them celebrating the 10 year anniversary before they actually completed 10 years in the league, and how the last digits in the years on the patch/logo should be the same. That would have been an epic thread (but this one sucks).

Great. I was hoping to buy one at the Dolphins game week 1. Typical, though. They did not make enough Division Champs hats last year, so no surprise they are oblivious about the desires of the average fan this year.
I'll end up over-paying for one on Ebay like I did with the hat.

I'd do that as well, in a heartbeat, if I could find one on ebay. I found some but they were different than the "official unit" that the players wear.
Let me know if you find one DB. Mama's making Baby Girl a Texans sun dress so she can dress up in her Texans gear for the games, just like her PawPaw.
My DIL jumped on the Texans bandwagon this season as well and I'm getting her a jersey for Christmas but bandwaggoners DON'T get anniversary patches. That's just the way it is!

I did find a patch for the Texans inaugural season, which is cool and I felt compelled to buy. Not sure what I'm going to do with it, but might even sew it to my jersey, as well. Gotta' have some flair!
