Nfl Draft Day 2

Now the question is, will the DE be there for our next pick. I really think that at least one of the DE's mentioned here before will be there for our next pick. I like Okam and most mocks had him earlier. Should be able to contribute from day one.

Okam has taken a beating in the offseason. He basically ate his way out of the 1st day. But, he does provide value and should become a good rotational 2 gap DT.

Still a lot of pass rushers left???

Johnston and Blake might still be on board for our 6th. :)

Since Omobi and TJ are similar although Okoye is better, it makes sense. U put the big 2 gapper next to the 1 gap penetrator along with Mario on the outside, now ur cooking with gas. Some teams like 2 big guys inside like jaksonville and minny, but get okam frees up okoye to get upfield from inside as well as. i like this pick.

A lot of stuff I had read on the guy said they questioned his motor. I assume that's why he dropped. The times I have seen him, he looked stout to me. He's sort of like Blake in that he may be a boom/bust type. If they can motivate him, they may have a first rd talent in the middle. I see him rotating in with our current crop of tackles, might play a lot on running downs.

Another VERY good pick.

If we take Nicks, Blake, or maybe one of the remaining safety's in the 6th, that might put this as my favorite all time Texans draft.

Is this a different regime than the old Carrerly/Capers duo or what? Rick Smith is going to get a name as a top GM/talent evualator. Love these picks and what they did to add more in the first.

I like Okam, I made a thread not too long ago about getting a space eating DT.

Looks like we've finally got a big body to tie up blockers to let Diles/Ryans/Adibi do their thing!!!

PS: Johnston/Blake/Robertson are all still on the board and we've got the 7th pick of the 6th round. Very good chance that we grab one :splits:

Haha, I just happened to be looking at his draft profile a while before we picked him. I'm quite surprised, but kind of irked that Denver took the guy we wanted at DT.

A draft aside.....both networks have guys now that are getting on my last nerve with how they pick apart some 5th rounder. I know itis their job but no one will come and pick apart their comments when 60% of what they say ends up being b.s.

When did Casserly get that dark brown pelt?

Check out SI's take

POSITIVES: King-sized interior defensive lineman who may ultimately find a home at offensive guard. Powerful in his lower body, plays with good pad level, and tough to move off the point. Eats up a lot of space in the middle of the field, effectively uses his hands to protect himself, and bull-rushes opponents off the line.

NEGATIVES: Lumbers about the field. Displays marginal explosion and limited speed. Does not play with a sense of urgency. Straight-line defender who struggles to change direction.

ANALYSIS: Okam has the body type and physical skills to be a dominant defensive lineman, yet he lacks a defender.s mentality. An intelligent prospect who hopes to go to law school one day, his passive style of play could have some teams giving him a look on the offensive line.

Offensive Guard??? :spit:

Good pick. Lets TJ rotate with Okoye on one side, and Okam plug the middle. Dont be suprised if we get another space eater in the 7th or as an undrafted FA. Now a speed rusher in the 6th.

We might even go after him as an unsigned FA..........looks like all the other teams may be scared off..........the Texas proximity would definitely be a plus for him deciding for the Texans if he remains unsigned.

I think it was the espn draft report that said he would probably go undrafted due to "severe mental health concerns". I would love to give the guys a shot as a FA or if he is deemed worth the risk but if SMith and Kubes ahve someone else rated close I would prefer less risk.

Pitt takes one of the remaining QBs in Dixon from Oregon. With him recovering and all, I wonder if they have other plans for him. Slash 2

The big multi-dimensional FBs Hillis & Schmitt are still on the board. Would be a nice combo with Slaton.

King Dunlap is still available? I thought he would go in the 3rd, no later than the 4th. Hmmmm.

Nicks can play just about any position along the line. I like him as a versatile guy who can spot start.

Roy Schuening is another guy I like for Oline, but not so sure he fits the ZBS very well.

Personally, I would go Tommy Blake. He is worth the risk at this point. If he busts, what have you lost? If he booms, that trade down in the first rd will look like pure genius.

Did Andre Woodson kill someone and I missed it? I know he has some concerns regarding his release, but he has the 2nd biggest arm in the draft behind Flacco.

Schuening just went to the Rams.

We're going to be up pretty soon.

When Bud got tired of it.

Hillis is a Cooley type of player that woudl be an extra weapon for MS. Great value at this point. Schmitt is similar to what we already have only better. Either would be a great pickup IMO.

Going into the draft, I marked off all the FB's, C's, WR's, TE's, and QB's as non-need positions. Everything else was fair game.

But if a "great" one falls to us... how do we not take 'em?

Especially with how great we've drafted up to this point.

Tommy Blake....Are people concerned with off the field issues, as in a criminal record, or the clinical diagnosis with depression and social anxiety?

Pretty much how I did it except I had 1 TE Cottam, 2 FB's Hillis and Schmitt. All 3 would be upgrades IMO and figured we could get them late.

Mike Hart is still on the board? Wow. I had him as a 3rd round or at worst 4th. Wonder what's up. Anyone for another RB!:fans:
