Final Mock Draft

Here is my final mock draft. The player in parenthesis represents who I think the team could go with as well depending on how the board starts to shape up.

1. Miami - Jake Long, OT, Michigan
2. St. Louis - Chris Long, DE, Virginia
3. Atlanta - Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
4. Oakland - Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas / (Dorsey)
*5. New Orleans (from KC) - Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU / (Dorsey for Chiefs)
6. NY Jets - Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio State
*7. Kansas City (from NO/from NE) - Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida / (McKelvin for Pats)
8. Baltimore - Brandon Albert, LT, Virginia / (Matt Ryan in a trade up)
9. Cincinnati - Sedrick Ellis, NT, USC / (Harvey)
*10. New England (from NO) - Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB, Tenn. State / (DRC or McKelvin for Saints)
11. Buffalo - Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy / (D. Thomas)
12. Denver - Ryan Clady, LT, Boise State / (Williams)
13. Carolina - Jonathan Stewart, RB, Oregon / (Otah)
14. Chicago - Chris Williams, LT, Vanderbilt / (Cherilus)
15. Detroit - Jerod Mayo, LB, Tennessee / (Mendenhall)
16. Arizona - Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois (Stewart or M. Jenkins)
17. Kansas City - Jeff Otah, OT, Pitt / (Cherilus)
18. Houston - Keith Rivers, LB, USC / (Mendenhall)
Z-Report Says: This one looks like it is shaping up to be a decent selection. The Texans will have a shot at one of the following: Mayo, Rivers, D. Thomas, Mendenhall, Stewart or M. Jenkins. It looks like they won't be able to get the LT they covet but thems are the breaks when you don't have ammunition to move up in the draft. Still, there should be good value at 18.
19. Philadelphia - Gosder Cherilus, RT, Boston / (Rivers)
20. Tampa Bay - Mike Jenkins, CB, USF / (Talib)
21. Washington - Phillip Merling, DE, Clemson
22. Dallas - Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan St. / (F. Jones)
23. Pittsburgh - Curtis Lofton, LB, Oklahoma / (D. Thomas or F. Jones)
24. Tennessee - Limas Sweed, WR, Texas / (Talib)
25. Seattle - Kentwan Balmer, DT, North Carolina / (Sweed)
26. Jacksonville - Tyrell Johnson, SS, Arkansas St / (Balmer)
27. San Diego - Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas / (B. Flowers)
28. Dallas - Kenny Phillips, FS, Miami / (Talib or Flowers)
29. San Francisco - James Hardy, WR, Indiana / (D. Jackson)
30. Green Bay - Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas / (F. Jones)
31. NY Giants - Brandon Flowers, CB, Virginia Tech / (K. Phillips)

If Atlanta selects Ryan they will be making a huge mistake. I think they should draft Dorsey then look to draft a QB next year or draft one in the later rounds. They have a lot of holes to fill and are in the rebuilding process. Now if he was a franchise QB it would be different but he is not. JMO

And what do you think they should do at the QB position?

heh heh...the Titans trading away one DB and his problems for another DB and his problems. it's probably too sweet to be true.

Rivers is not consistant effort type the Texans covet, he could have all the measureables in the world & still not be as good of fit for our defense as Jarod Mayo. the tape of Mayo reminds me alot of DeMeco I could live with him #18 but with some rationalization. I could justify the pick by saying DeMeco should have gone in the 1st rd. the Texans got lucky, so with Mayo there is some payback but in the end another pro-bowl canidate. the Question is what value they place on Greenwood going forward?

second question is what if any possiblity of a team still wanting Sage & the Texans getting another 1st day pick? that would brighten things up a bit :)

Henne or Flacco will fall to them.

They have the ammo to trade up for Brohm if they want to.

That was my thinking. They could get their choice in the 2nd round, maybe. They could wait until next year to draft a QB.

Henne I do not think is a franchise QB he never stood out to me, and I watched him a lot. Also the real leader of the Wolverines was Heart not Henne.

Wait till next year? Isn't that what we keep doing with Left Tackle? You never ever think about waiting till next year because you have no idea where you will be drafting and who is going to be available. Also, the Falcons have to have a new face to the franchise and it has to be one with a clean image, not saying Dorsey is not clean but the QB is the face of the franchise most of the time.

I just do not see that they have much of a choice based on recent history.

Sheftner is currently reporting: Baltimore is on the phone to St. Louis to jump Hotlanta for Mattie Ice....from the eight ?

Whoa !

Lance- just thought we oughta give you some credit. your final mock was by far the best I've seen, congrats! I could be miscounting, so others can help me out but looks like you got 10 of the 31 selections spot on as far as position, and you got 2 correct for 'another possibility'. Also, you were very very close with other players (just a few spots off), like Harvey (1 spot-trade), Ellis (2 spots- trade), etc.

I think the spot a player is taken is just as important as what team it's to because trades are so hard to predict.

All in all I think you deserve a round for being the best in the business this year! :toast2:

Who in the world would have expected 2 LB's to go in the top ten and have R Mendenhall fall as far as he did. Great work.
