Wild-Card Home field advantage

A

I heard on 790 this morning that the rule might be in effect this coming season. The rule is no matter if you win your division or not if you have the better record you get home-field advantage. I think that is fair and way past due IMO.

The proposed rule is the top two division winners would have home field advantage. The bottom two and the wildcards would have home field advantage determined by record. I like the idea in that it would encourage teams not to coast at the end of the season.

We probably would be 7-9 for last year, but the Jags played their bench-warmers against the Texans starters in Reliant 'cause they had already clinched a playoff spot as a W-C but no incentive for them to win that game.
The irony is we win a meaningless game and improve our record to 8-8 and we are out of the running for a franchise OT Chris Williams or Jeff Otah in this years Draft.

Oh. Come of it will ya. To quote Herm the Worm.....

"HELLO! You play to win the game!!!!!"

So the Texans should have thrown the game so they could improve their draft position? You've got to be kidding me!

Let me guess. You were one of those who thought Houston should have played to lose against the 9'ers in 2005 so they wouldn't hurt their position in the Jesus Bush sweepstakes.

What a loser mentality!!!!:fans:

What is the point of division titles then? Seriously, just make it two conferences, and the two best records get a bye-week and homefield for week 2, and the other four teams in each conference play the wildcard weekend with the homefield determined by record.

This rule change completely negates the point of divisions, IMO. You'll still run the risk of 8-8 division winners and 10-6 teams that don't make the playoffs. That's not "fair", which is the main reason for this current rule change to begin with!

Besides, I'm tired of being on the bottom of the best division in football. We need two conferences and nothing else to keep things "FAIR".
