This was on ESPN today. There were also reports about video of the Rams walkthrough in 2001. I'm just reporting the news,. No comment on what difference this guys background makes.

LAHAINA, Hawaii -- Matt Walsh worked seven years with the New England Patriots before being let go on Martin Luther King Day in 2003. He was on the New Orleans Superdome sidelines when the Pats kicked off their dominant run, upsetting the St. Louis Rams in the 2002 Super Bowl. He wasn't a chiseled athlete, but a go-getter who climbed his way up the team's support staff ladder -- first as a public relations intern, then as a video assistant and later, in his last year, a college scout.

Mostly, though, his years with New England were spent shooting football video.

He was the third, and last, employee on the video staff. In his words, he was Matt Estrella before Matt Estrella, a reference to the Patriots video assistant caught filming the Jets' defensive signals by league officials last September at halftime of a game against New York -- the violation that birthed "Spygate" and led, in part, to some of the heftiest penalties in league history. New England coach Bill Belichick was fined $500,000 -- the biggest fine ever for a coach -- and the team was docked its first-round draft choice this year

I love how they release it the day before the Super Bowl. No wonder Belichik hates the media so much.

That being said, its now official. Whether right or wrong, the Patriots legacy but specifically Belichik's record as a coach, is tainted beyond repair. it could even get worse before it gets any better.

That being said, I want to see the Patriots win because if the Giants pull the upset we would never hear the end of it. Were gonna hear about the Patriots season, win or lose. Till the end of time. But if the Giants win, we have to hear about both teams till the end of time....I can't stand that its a Boston v New York Super Bowl...it makes me ill inside.

They are good, but i dont think they could have gone undefeaed with out cheating, even though they got caught and "stopped" they still had all the knowledge of these tapes.....

There will be arguments about this year for the rest of time..... and thats a fact.

Here was the second report on the Rams SB.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs07/news/story?id=3227245

An unnamed source has claimed a New England Patriots employee secretly videotaped the St. Louis Rams' pregame walk-through the day before Super Bowl XXXVI, the Boston Herald reported Saturday.

According to the report, an unnamed source close to the team during the 2001 season said that following the Patriots' walk-through at the Louisiana Superdome, a member of the team's video staff stayed behind and taped the Rams' walk-through -- a non-contact, no-pads practice at reduced speed in which a team goes through its plays.

To be honest, I'm pretty sick of what the media is making out of this.

It's basically one guys word versus another, and I'm not really worried about it.

You sound like Richard Justice's column this morning.:)

Football fans simply don't care.......
.......... And so Goodell fines Bill Belichick $500,000 and takes away a first-round draft pick for cheating? Wake me when it's over.

I do so hate to agree with Justice - but this time I do. I don't care . and wonder why Arlen Specter does. We will continue to hear all about this until baseball folks make their appearances before the Senate Committee. The media has to have something to blow out of proportion.

I just can't stand the Pats or the Giants but really I hate the Pats even more cuz for some reason they won the bowl right after the 9-11 thing. Before that yea they sucked hard. The Pats have been caught cheating and so they should pay the price more than what a fine and a pick does something like an asterisk or something to let everybody know that yea they did it but they cheated. I'm sure a bunch of others do it too but did they get caught?! No, so Pats pay the price dawg.:aggressive:

They got caught for one game, and I think a first round draft pick and a total of 750 thousand in fines is a pretty good punishment. They have no idea if the pats actually DID cheat for Superbowl XXXVI and, if they did what would you want them to do? Give up Daniel Graham if they still had him?

They weren't caught then, so they should go free for this incident since you support the "If caught, pay the price." policy.

I don't know. Like I said, I'm sick of this story. lol

The Patriots are undefeated because they are one of the most talented teams in the history of the NFL.

People who want media attention can find it easily, and that is apparent with this.

if you don't watch sportscenter you won't have to deal with it. i haven't watched in months and haven't seen a single second of super bowl hype. it's awesome. no reason to watch anyway with the internet being so easy for all sports news.

And are we to believe the Patriots are the first team in the history of the NFL to try and get the upper hand by doing something like this?

Baseball players steal signals from the other team all of the time.

Throwing games, paying off officials, having hit men hurting players on the other team....those things I would be worried about.

If the Texans don't win the SB I want N.E. to win 3 or 4 more SB's, screw the media. They hate Belicheck because he doesn't kiss their butts. Specter (Warren Comission) is worried about this while the country is going to he** in a hand basket. There is a book called High Treason that should be required reading for every person in this country.
