When is the myth of a 25 carry per game RB going to die? That's 400 carries a year. The league leader this year was 325. These pundits really need to learn to pun before they dit.

"sturdy enough to carry the ball 25 times or more in a game if you need it"

Not the same as saying that he is going to get 25 carries per game. He's saying that he can carry it that much if you need it.

it'll die as soon as the myth that small backs actually CAN'T carry it 25 times a game dies.

I want a lineman. Maybe a DB. But I don't want to use a first rounder on a running back when guys like Marion Barber and Ryan Grant are found in low rounds or undrafted.

plenty of guys like Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch are found in the first round, too.

Larry Johnson and Portis are also early picks, granted Portis was an early 2nd. It's all a crapshoot honestly with RB's.
and with every other position. doesn't make ANY sense at ALL to value a player in this draft based on how that position has faired by draft pick in years past. if a player is worthy of a top 15 pick you draft him in the top 15 PERIOD i don't care the position.

I wouldn't complain if we drafted Mendenhall. But I'd feel a whole lot better about the pick if we sign a DB like Trufant, Asomugha, or Samuel or a DE like Allen or Smith.

If there's a stud safety sitting there........take him, if not.......take the stud RB. (Unless a stud LT is there)

IMO, the only thing that kept us out of the playoffs this year was a good RB. In the history of this franchise, this team has NEVER had a RB with break away speed that defenses actually had to game plan for.

P.S.

Congrats on the Parcells hire kastofsna

that guy knows how to build a team, I now think the Dolphins are the future of their division.

Mendenhall is nice but if we had to go with a running back, I like Jonathan Stewart from Oregon.

I like Mendenhall and J Stewart a lot for the first round. Ray Rice if we trade down to late first, Tashard Choice in the 3rd...we have plenty of options.

Did Sam Baker just fall out of the first round? I think he forgot about him.

I can't place the source at the moment, but I recall seeing/hearing that Baker is dropping in many eyes do to overall strength concerns.

Yeah we passed up Portis for Jabar Gaffney.

Yup, I still remember me and my friend mark looking at each other with disbelief when they passed on Portis for Gaffney. I thought Gaffney was a good college receiver but what moron takes receivers from Florida? Oh wait, Casserley does. Casserley was such a blithering ***** it just confounds me that people still listen to that loser.

I can't remember a receiver coming out of Florida that was worth a damn since Chris Collinsworth came out back in the 70s.

25. Tennessee - Limas Sweed, WR, Texas: No secret that the Titans need WR help and the Titans certainly don't shy away from Longhorns. Sweed should be healthy by the draft and his size and speed should excite Titans.

Yay another Longhorn for the Tacks.

The funny part is Andre Davis was taken 47th that year, after Gaffney and there were also guys like Andre Gurode at G, LaCharles Bentley at Center taken between Gaffney and Pitts.

I bet Pitts might have lasted into the 4th ... but not as a guard ... that's where CCs big brain went to work .
