still the best DE prospect in the draft. question is do they package a deal & send Steven Jackson packing if they covet McFadden?
3. NY Jets 3-12 - Darren McFadden, RB Arkansas
GM Tannenbaum would be in an excellent position here to trade down as several teams would want McFadden & feel comfortable with the RB tandem of Thomas Jones, Leon Washington & Cedric Houston.
4. Atlanta 3-12 - Matt Ryan, QB Boston College
take your choice from among the top 3 QB's in this draft, one will have to be chosen with Vick still unable to return.
5. Kansas City 4-11 - Ryan Clady, OT Boise State
have their choice of Tackles, Clady has more upside than Long & should be a steady starter from day one.
6. Oakland 4-11 - Calais Campbell, DE/DT Miami
I beleive when he receives his recommendation as a probable top 15 pick interest will increase around the league & his stock will rise.
7. Baltimore 4-11 - Jake Long, OT Michigan
Need pick, Ogdon may retire.
8. New England (via 49'ers 5-10) - James Laurinatas, ILB Ohio State
could always trade down if someone really wants one of the top two QB's & Bellichick has the luxury to address his aging defense with bpa.
9. Cinncinnati 6-9 - Chris Ellis, DE Virginia Tech
Athletic DL who can play RDE in a 4-3 or OLB in a 4-3. Maybe the most questionable top 10 pick but would give the Bengals defensive playmaker addressing need, the type of athletic end they had hoped Pollack would become prior to his career ending neck injury.
10. Denver 6-9 - Sedric Ellis, DT USC
Very good interior tackle with athletic ability to stop the run in the middle on a consistant basis @ altitude.
11. Carolina 6-9 - Brian Bhrom, QB Louisville
Jake Delhomme should be fully recovered so its an ideal time to draft the best QB prospect to deveolp. remember you need two quality QB's per team to be covered.
12. Chicago 6-9 - Andre Woodson, QB Kentucky
Big, physical prospect, very accurate. has played under tremendous pressure in the pocket yet still driven his team to some impressive victorys.
13. Arizona 7-8 - Kenny Phillips, S Miami
Earlier I had them selecting Gholston but their secondary simply is too great of need to bypass with the best impact Safety still on board.
14. New Orleans 7-8 - Malcolm Jenkins, CB Ohio State
Underclassman with all the tools to be a top cb.
15. Buffalo 7-8 - Vernon Gholston, DE Ohio State
Right now this pick would make me really nervous if I want Baker for the Texans, Buffalo could certainly address the OL but Gholston is excellent value & impact pass rusher adding more depth for a solid defense.
16. Houston 7-8 - Sam Baker, LT USC
Obviously some things have to happen for Baker to still be available here, the Texans could not of asked for a better situation. contray to popular belief Baker is not injury prone, he had off season surgery to remove some loose cartlidge in his knee (pretty common among linemen these days). What he gives the Texans is the most polished tackle coming out of college, excellent size, athletic abiltiy & use of proper technique. If gone Texans could always select bpa or address the tackle need with the next best LT prospect Jeff Otah.
17. Detroit 7-8 - Mike Jenkins, CB South Florida
Could very well wind up being this years version of Dunta Robinson, a true cover corner with exceptional athletic ability & speed to mirror receivers.
18. Philadelphia 7-8 - Jeff Otah, OT Pittsburgh
Big, physical, raw talent with tremndous upside. Eagles need to address their aging line.
19. Minnesota 8-7 - Reggie Smith, CB/S Oklahoma
The best tackling db in the draft, I feel he fits in with the Vikings @ Safety solidfying the secondary as a whole.
20. Washington 8-7 - Gosder Cherilus, OT Boston College
The next Hog. Wide body with prototypical linemen size with natural RT ability.
21. Tennessee 9-6 - Kelly Malcolm, WR Oklahoma
Big, fast target for VY. reminds me of last years #23 pick, Dwayne Bowe looks the part of a true NFL #! WR.
22. Dallas (via Browns 9-6) - DeSean Jackson, WR California
Add another offensive playmaker, may be somewhat in reaction to having another weapon against the Patriots in the Superbowl or just the fact Terrell Owens is not getting any younger, not to mention bpa.
23. Tampa Bay 9-6 - Rashard Mendenhall, RB Illinois
Another underclassman (coin toss right now if he enters the draft) but seems like a durable #1 RB if Cadillac comes back that would really help take the pressure off him & the running game in general. could also address OL here.
24. Seattle 10-5 - Roy Schuening, OG Oregon State
Still smarting from losing Steve Hutchinson (especially Alexander) I've noticed Seattle tends to take the local talent (NW) when given the choice, but should come down between him & OU Guard Duke Robinson. both are aggressive, physical future NFL road graders.
25. Pittsburgh 10-5 - Kirk Barton, LT Ohio State
Also have noticed the run on OL really heats up amonst the better teams, always trying to protect the jewels. Barton is a bit of a reach but fits everything the Steelers like & should be an excellent addtion to replacing some of the line they are sure to lose in FA.
26. San Diego 10-5 - Dan Connor, Penn State ILB
The Chargers are solid on the ends of their linebackers but could use some upgrade in the middle. Connor represents excellent value & need for the powder blue.
27. New York Giants 10-5 - Martin Rucker, TE Missouri
Persoenl pick, I really have been impressed with his game. watch and see how he does against Arkansas, another big game in prime time should propell him into the 1st rd. & frankly I'm not a big Shockey fan now with his broken tibia & Mannings reliance on throwing to the TE position underneath make this a more logical pick than some might think.
28. Jacksonville 11-4 - Mario Manningham, WR Michigan
This is a different kind of WR than they've been selectin lately, Mario is more about possession/route running in the mold of Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez, quick, smart & experienced.
29. Green Bay 12-3 - Antoine Cason, CB Arizona
The next best pure cover corner with return skills, keeps the defense loaded in the secondary.
30. San Francisco (via Colts 13-2) - Fili Moala, DT USC
I've heard he might come out, if he does he could certainly go earlier, excellent value if he's still here & the 49ers need help everywhere but a good place to start is one of the weakest points, the interior line.
31. Dallas 13-2 - Duke Robinson, OG Oklahoma
Duke is an outstanding underclassman guard. this is a best case scenero Draft for the Cowboys addressing the offense with talent for years to come. could address secondary via free agency.
