Houston Watch Parties

In looking for another location (I know many people were upset Sunday - the sound was off/broken and the cook quit AGAIN) I am open to suggestions. We could always mosey back to Pub for the rest of the year (except for Oakland and SD - may not be able to get good seats).

I looked up Mezzanine (posted earlier in this thread), but these are their TV's:

I would like to have a place that we can get a REGULAR thing going and will reserve us tables. Crappy food aside I like the layout and TV's of coaches, and that they reserve us tables. But I'll do what the group wants to do.

Of course I like the 'scenery' at Pub, but what about that bar that someone posted a couple of weeks ago offering specials???. I will see if I can find the thread..

Hi there!
I just want to throw our name out there to you for any viewing parties or gatherings that we could help you out with.

We're a casual sports bar, family owned and ran. We're looking forward to the upcoming season and fostering some new relationships with groups of football fans.

We have the NFL Sunday Ticket and show all of the NFL games. We always have the Texans showing on the big screen upstairs with Full Volume sound.

We've got a new drink menu that has specials specifically for NFL games. We open at 11am on Sundays with a $3 Skyy Bloody Mary Bar. We offer any pint of beer (14 to choose from) for $2.50.. and it's steak night. $12 Ribeye, Fries, and a Pint of Beer.

Oh- and we are now Smoke-Free indoors. We do have a covered patio where people can still smoke if they choose.

If you are interested in getting a group of 10 or more people together, I will buy the first round of drinks.

It's The Mezzanine Lounge & Sports Bar. We're on 59 @ Greenbriar/Shepherd in the Kinko's parking lot.

See the pictures posted above of the really crappy TV setup. That's the place that posted - do you not read? :-P

As for me, I'll pass on a) Clear Lake (especially with the 45 construction) and b) watching the game in a theater. if my butt moves it's to a sports bar inside the loop.

That sounds good.... How's the scenery??

not too bad, mainly young girls. . .

Anyone thats ever been there they have a like a sports bar theme when you walk in and then you have your actuall theaters. You can sit down in the theater and watch the game and you have a waitress that comes to you and brings you food or drinkage.

He wants to know if the waitresses are hot or not, lol.

DOH!!!!!.

I'm thinking PUB, because I agree with Clear Lake being too far. However the Rosenberg location opens up by the Jacksonville game.

apologies guys. I wanted to be there, but the doctors haven't cleared me for drive and travel yet. Im still not strong enough to make trips longer then 5-10 minutes. Im hoping to be at the titans game in person, but honestly its looking less and less likely. I hope to make it to a gathering this season, but if i can't, somebody eat a wing for me.

Sorry, this is what we're discussing

I was at the Star Cinema Grill last Sunday. had a good time. We were the LOUD group in the middle. Beer was cheep but sound was not too good.

I am willing to try Mezzanine once if they will save us tables.

Fiction is good, too, but I have that been there/done that feeling about it.

I will go where the group go as well.

I don't want to go to Mezzanine - look at their TV's!!! Trust me, watching football on an old projection screen STINKS (where we watch OSU has them). But open to suggestions.

I was repping us LOUD and PROUD from a little sports bar in Moses Lake, Washington last Sunday. :fans: VERY nice digs, wish it were that nice when I lived up there. Didn't have much to do except pester the COWBOY fans in there since the Texans did so crappy. Too many of them star lovers, didn't remember them being so plentiful about 8 years ago.
:bat:

I know what he meant just saying they are pretty young looking. not even sure they're 18 if you know what I mean. I didn't wanna comment on how they looked and find out they're like 12 and then I'd feel like a pedophile.

Have you MET Bill?

Vito's?? I think Hobie (can't swear to it) knows the manager. I know him too but haven't been there in a while.

Vito's Deckhouse

*EDIT* My bad - its Nitrohonda that knows Milam.

Would you guys like me to get in touch with him and see if I can get something set up? It's definitely the kind of place that you would want to watch your games at.

Just called him. He seemed to be real busy but he said he'd look into it and see what kind of thing he can get set up for us but he said that he's had the Texans cheerleaders come to Vito's before so it's definitely the enviroment that I'd want to be a part of.

What are you guys looking for out of him? Let me know so I know what to tell him. I tried PMing yankee but he hasn't returned my PM just yet. Sunday is just around the corner so get back with me real quick

I do know this, the Vito's in Clear Lake, actually right off 45 and Nasa Parkway, it is a good place and there are usually some good visual stimulants for you guys.....I am sure the one in the Galleria is the same way.

Sorry, actually had work to do at work (which is going, since I only get paid for hours I bill!) :). I personally am not going to set up another one because with school and work I barely had time to work with a bar right down the street. Not because I'm annoyed or anything, but it's really hard (since we live in Houston and the games are on TV) to get people to RSVP, get a head count, and work with a bar owner.

So it's hard to say "we have X people, we want Y priveleges," especially with an owner I don't know. May have 10 people one week, may (if everyone would show up!) have 30 another.

HOWEVER, if someone else sets one up, I'll be there with bells on :) (should that not happen, I'll be plopping my butt at Pub or Coaches).

Is that the old Duke's?

Ok. Well, I'm in Austin soooo someone would need to take initative here. I'm willing to give him a call and try and get something set up but that'll be the extent of it all. Not really too much I can do from Austin.

I wouldn't be able to help out on that one. The guy that I know is the GM at the other one off Richmond.

And YES it's a great one too. I've been there. Either Vito's would be great for you guys. Pick your poison.

I understand. I guess I'm just too much of a wuss to work with a bar I don't know when it's hard to tell how many people are coming. I don't think we've topped 15 people yet (*cough* if everyone showed up the same week.... *cough*)

And we (Bill and I) vetoed Clear Lake :)

MIDTOWN
*+Wet Spot - good room, good prices, no BIG TV (but HD flat screens)
Christian's - decent prices, good room, not the best TV's, NO parking
*Mezzanine - never been, crappy TV's
*+PUB - good prices, good room (for noon games), side TV's are TINY
*Coaches - good room, good prices, good TV's, cooks keep quitting
*702 - never been
*Maple Leaf Pub - SUPER tiny TV's, kindy' pricy
*Firquin and Phoenix - decent prices, nice seats, TINY TV's
*Tavern - great prices, but the TV's are as old as me, plenty of seating
Little Woodrow's - not the best TV's, parking may be a big problem, decent prices

GALLERIA
Vito's - never been
Scott gertner's Sports Bar - never been
* = decent parking, + = parking may be full for 3:00 game

Will work on this list later, class is almost over. Some of these I have never been to during a game, let me know if I am wrong.

Judging from the title of this thread, I thought it had something to do with Fred Weary's favorite hobby. :)

So far, it sounds like the Wet Spot is the best contender for the watch parties... but I think this is going to have to be looked at more closely... some research will have to go into this for the next week in a half...:drunk:

Just thought I toss out Griff's. They have 3 big screens and Texans are on with sound inside & on the patio. No big specials for Sundays, but the drinks and Food are reasonable.

Drinks were $2.75 bottle domestics and $9 pitchers domestics (Shiner was $11)
Bloody Mary Bar was $4.50. Nothing great as far as drink specials.
Food's pretty reasonable though.

Checked the website on 702. Looks like they have $5 pitchers, $2 hot dogs, and 35cent wings. Doesn't say anything about a big screen though - just plasma tvs on some of the walls.
The website is not very good....

It says 15 TVs (3 Big Screens).

On another note, I remember a "Big John Icehouse" on Briarforest and Dairy Ashford that I used to come watch Rockets games some years ago.
They have a couple of big screens there, a full menu (including crawfish, steak & BBQ, breakfast served all day - easy on the wallet), a fairly big converted garage area and covered patio, good for people to light up.
It might work for y'all up North and out on the West side (it's a bit far for me now that I have moved, but I don't mind.)
They also take reservation.

Bill can probably check out the place, can't you Bill?

Having checked out the place *ahem* several times, the TV's aren't that great and when the garage doors are open, they TV's are especially tough to see....

Never mind then. I guess it was fine to me before was that the Rockets games are at night, and it was some ten-twelve years ago, during the championship runs. TVs weren't as nice back then. LOL!

Food quality is excellent, especially for a Tavern....we eat there all the time from work on "Pork-Chop" Tuesdays!
