Predict The Score Week 2!

You're a Carolina fan. Of course you're going to think that your offense is going to tear us to pieces and your defense is going to stuff us.

Your correct about the offensive assumption, however I am not blind enough to believe that our Defense will keep the Texans from being competitive. I was just hoping to see a bit more of an objective approach from the board. If you visit the Panthers board when we are facing a better opponent you will see many fans predict the score objectively. Yes, even predict the other team to win. But that is fine I am looking forward to winning the prediction thread this week.

Well... we don't think that you're as good as you think you are. Sure, we could be wrong about that. If this was last year, over half the people on here would have been picking you guys to win. But we don't think that you're an elite team. You're not the Colts, the Chargers, or the Patriots. You're not even the Bears, the Saints, or the Bengals.

You beat the Rams, a team that was 8-8 last year and is not the vaunted Rams team from their Super Bowl years. If you had beaten the Chargers or the Patriots, then we'd be a lot more worried.

And, sure, all we did was beat the Chiefs and even though they were 9-7 last year, everyone knows that they're going to be bad this year. So you shouldn't be worried about us, either.

You guys have a strong defense. Great. We faced stronger defenses last year and beat them with a worse team. There were 6 teams with better total defense numbers than you guys and we faced 4 of them in 5 games. We went 4-1 against those teams. We only lost to the Patriots.

If it makes you feel any better, most of us are probably going to be picking ourselves to beat the Colts next week, too. After all, we beat them the last time we played them. :fans:

You guys will probably go 11-5 this year because you've been doing that every other year, but maybe you won't. Maybe you're not that good. You just have to prove it to us.

I like this fact! :doot:

I also really like that smilie.

28-10 .......... Panthers . I just think we may have some match up problems this week . Steve Smith has me worried , and that D-Line of Carolinas sure is strong . I think our O-Line may struggle against them . Hopefully I'm wrong .

I see the good guy's with a least 3 long drives and better than 50% redzone
Add a JJ touch on special teams and were at 21 or better. Looking to be + on takeaway's because the ball is bouncing our way right now.

Close game - possibly overtime.

Texans - 24
Panthers - 30

Thinking a close game on the road against the Panthers is a win.

Green - 75 yards

GO TEXANS :d:

If you beat the colts the last time you played them. Then the Texans and the Panthers have more in common than being two teams on the up and up. Oh and there is a definate possibility that we could be worse than I think we are. I am traditionally a pessimistic fan, but am hopeful about this year if our OL stays healthy. The difference between the years the panthers went to the NFC championship and the Super Bowl and last year was last year we had several injuries on the OL. I'm hoping this year the Panthers can stay relatively healthy.

Oh and as for the Saints and Bears we swept the Saints last year and beat the Bears two out of the last three times we played them.

We had several injuries on our offensive line last year, too. Our starting left tackle dropped in the second game of the year and still hasn't returned. We had a really good feature back who didn't play a down last year and won't ever play a down again. Our second best running back last year wasn't healthy until the last few games.

We've already lost both our strong safeties this year. We have 8 guys on IR including a guy we were hoping was going to give us some tackle depth and a guy a lot of us expected to be the #2 running back. Our projected starting left tackle is on PUP.

For us, this is the first time that we've been able to seriously be hopeful since the first half of the 2004 season when we were playing well before all the wheels flew off.

Think about it this way... which teams do you expect the Panthers to lose to? You probably expect them to beat most teams, right? Well, we've got a feeling that we've turned a corner and we're going to be a winning team this season. There aren't a lot of games we're going to pick our team to lose until we start getting evidence that we haven't turned that corner.

So far, we've passed every test.

You guys may win this weekend. You've got a good team. You might even go to the Super Bowl this year, although I don't think you're that good. But I expect to be IN this game and with this team, I expect it to find a way to win. I don't think that's unreasonable.

You know how crazy this league is though. The year that you guys made it to Houston for the Super Bowl, we beat y'all. We almost took out the Patriots too. We ended up losing the game in OT to a Vinatieri field goal. You never know what's going to happen week to week!

Texans 35
Panthers 33

both defenses are good but this should be a surprisingly high scoreing affair. there are gonna be defensive TD's, Special Teams TD's, several big field goals but none bigger than Chris Browns winning kick as time expires.

ESPN Week 2 picks:

Of the nine experts, only one picks us against the Panthers. Not a huge surprise given the points spread also favors Panthers by 6.5, but kudos to Ron Jaworksi for sticking his neck out.

I'll go against the odds and pick the Texans to win a tight game, 20-17.

Green 101

Considering Jaws being one of the only ESPN analysts who seems to understand what he's talking about, I feel fairly confident with our chances. You know he's been locked in that film room studying up on this.

Where is Michael Smiths predictions? That is who I want to see saying who is going to win.

I already posted my prediction of a close game in this thread, but after going through all of the possibilities in my mind, I believe it will be the team that plays out of the norm and succeeds that will win.

Smith and AJ are both going to be the focus of the secondary so I think that this will be a big game for the TE's and #2's. Does JJ have the speed and cut moves to sneak into this game as a threat at #2/#3?. Kevin Walter will be a non-factor against the Carolina CB's unless they just blow their coverage in favor of locking down AJ.

As close of a game as many of you may think this will be, there is still the potential of a blow out from either team depending on how the defenses can adjust to exposed weaknesses.

My $0.02

If I'm dead wrong about the o-line, I'm dead wrong. It'll be a close game.

Carolina 28
Texans 20

Ahmen 115.
Dayne 45 /w TD

Williams 135 /w 1 TD.

Well add Mike Ditka and Keyshawn Johnson to the list of those picking the Texans to win...

I don't like the Panthers, so it pains me to say that they simply look like the better, more talented team. I'm not inclined to pick the Texans to upset until they have more of a history of upsetting.

Panthers 31
Texans 17

Foster 81 yards.
Green 43 yards.

2 Sep 17 CAR 13 @ MIN 16 FINAL 63,623 MIN Brad Johnson: 243Yds MIN Chester Taylor: 113Yds CAR Keyshawn Johnson: 106Yds

This was the Panthers 2nd game last year ... FWIW .

hi guys, visiting the site to get some info on the Texans.

I think it will be close going into the second half but the Panthers pull away.

27-17 Panthers.

Panthers improved offensive will be too much in there home opener and the banged up Texans DL wears out in the second half with Foster/DeAngelo making some big plays on the ground.

What the hell markn? Did you think my pick was so good that you needed to copycat? :wild: It's just comical because I posted the same score right before you did. Oh well, let's hope we are "both" right!:texflag:

I posted that score a LONG time ago.

You're both just copycats.
