ESPN: Texans best and worst picks.

powerfuldragon

Enchilada Aficionado.
Best pick: Jacoby Jones, WR/RS, Lane. Jones was one of the worst-kept secrets in the 2007 draft class. He needs polishing but the Texans were ahead of the curve by selecting the speedy receiver/return man late on Day 1.

Worst pick: Amobi Okoye, DT, Louisville. Okoye is a good player and an even better story. Unfortunately, it seems the upside as a 19-year-old pushed his value entirely too high. Simply put, Okoye was not the 10th-best player in the 2007 class and the team could have used that pick to address a more pressing need at cornerback.

... still waiting on those jacoby jones highlights to hit the net.

(thanks to qummedigity of the 49ers board)

Hilarious--Okoye was in the top 10 of virtually ever mock draft in existence but these guys know better and then they laud the pick so lampooned around here for Jones. Basically they are talking out their sphincters.

McShay's final mock draft

Somebody with Insider tell us where McShay had Okoye going in his last mock.

Kiper had Atl taking Okoye at number 8

Len P had him going to the Redskins (he also had Branch going 21 Broncos)

McShay has Okoye going to Houston (Now says worst pick) How is that for being two faced.

Peter King washington #6

Pete prisco (cbs) Okoye

What did his little blurb about the pick say in the mock draft?--if it isn't anything like Houston will be dumb enough to reach for Okoye then the guy is a classic assclown.

This is what he said:

The Texans must find a quality starter opposite Dunta Robinson. With Revis off the board, they could take Hall, but they favor Revis so taking the best available player is the right move if they can't trade out of this pick. Okoye possesses a rare blend of quickness, athletic ability and power. He's also just 19 years old, so he should only get better as he gains experience.

Ever wonder if guys like McShay ever go back and read the stuff they wrote a week ago. I ask because I know it would be to much ofr McShay to remember what he wrote.

assclown!!

well on April 6th he had Okoye going #8 to Atlanta. after that mock he had Landry going #8 to Atlanta all the way until draft and had Okoye going to the Redskins at #6 from April 6th until draft day. this change was precipitated by Okoye running a 4.8 at the Louisville Pro Day. yeah we got his 6th highest rated player at #10....what a horrible draft.

bottom line is that based on his mock draft we got a #6 pick at #10 at a position of need. how the **** can he say it was a bad pick? McShay is a far superior alternative to Kiper but the producers at ESPN must really push these guys to take shots at the Texans whenever there is even the slightest opportunity.

If Calvin Johnson would have been picked by the Texans at #10 they still would have criticized us for not drafting an OT. Who should we have taken? Staley?!?!? give me an f-in break. Last time I checked we have chosen OT with 2 of our 6 highest picks the past 2 drafts. This year we chose 2 more in the later rounds where they had value and where we could add depth in case of injury.
