Laron Landry Reminds you of...

Draft Guru
Who does Laron Landry remind you of? I have not had a chance to see too many of his games and I was hoping some people who have could tell me who he is similar to? Is he simialr to an Ed Reed type of player? Or is he more of a polamalu or another solid FS?

No FSs come to mind, but he does remind of some SSs. He's more
stiff & mechanical in his movements as opposed to being a fluid-moving, more athletic type that I'd expect to see in a FS.

To me he most reminds of Brian Dawkins in today's players. He won't make a whole lot plays as in ints or deflections, but he's solid with his tackling & very disciplined with his reads/coverage & does well enough to where QB's will think twice about throwing in his direction & recievers are aware he's in the vicinity so they won't really have all their focus on the ball.

i see nelson as a polamalu clone in a few years. extremely smart and instintive. some of the things polamalu do on the field is mindblowing. his instincts are ridiculous.

I see Landry as a Demeco Ryans only faster and better in coverage...oh yea and a FS.

Dawkins does come to mind when talking about NFL S's.

For a guy that doesn't make a lot of plays he sure seemed to do alot this year.

1 sack, 4 picks, 5 forced fumbles, 93 tackles and 9 passes defensed. I'm not harping on your or anything sorry if it comes off that way. Just a secondary Eagles fan behind my Texans, and to me it seemed every time they needed a big play he stepped up to the plate. I'd also like to add leadership ability to Landry's arsenal as a 4 year starter in the SEC.

I don't see Dawkins, Reed or anyone else like that in Landry.

I see a solid player who isn't going to make a lot of game changing plays, but is also rarely going to make the game changing mistakes either....

Not saying he'll never make a play, I just haven't seen the knack for it...

Agreed, i too am a secondary eagles fan (became 1 after the oilers left & then even moreso after they drafted McNabb, who's my favorite player).

to me his is a more controlled verion of sean taylor...he might not be as reckless of a player but that's probably a good thing

I liked old school Randal Cunningham. I used to be a cowboys and oilers fan but really grew to like the Eagles. After the Oilers left i became an Eagles fan and loved the draft pick of McNabb even when people booed him. I bet those fans are feeling pretty stupid now. I couldn't understand the Jeff Garcia replacement talk... and i think the Eagles now that Reid has figured out what a good running game can do....and added Curtis and a healthy Jevon Kearse are going to be the class of the NFC next year.

On Edit: I crack up every time i see that avatar

I wonder what it would take for us to get both Landry and Nelson. It would be awesome and to go along with Robinson and Ryans, that would make Williams so so so much better

Take ? All of the coaches and scouts drop down dead April 28th and the wives determine that fixing the Safty woes in one draft, inspite of the cost, inspite of the tallent on the board, is a good thingy.

I dunno...got to be a reason with those mind numbing combine numbers the guy isn't very productive ? Just hope you guys aren't drafting Antion Peek II at the saftey position.

Laron Landry= Antwan Peek II?
Brady Quinn = David Carr II?
Alan Branch = Travis Johnson II?

LOL, whose left to draft? Lets just stock up on OL this draft

1st.Levi Brown
2nd.Ryan Kalil ..please be there
3rd.Josh Beekman
4th.Andy Alleman

good news is we wouldn't have to address our oline for a while.

Landry reminds me of a faster more athletic Mike Minter..hard hitting and very smart in his reads. A young Rod Woodson comes to mind also.

Seriously though I think he reminds me of a combination of Lott and Woodson. I like the comparison Vinny brought up of Blaine Bishop also. That guy could hit. I used to love to watch him play.
