Just watched the ND vs. LSU Sugar Bowl tape - again

What else can you do in the long winter of the offseason, so to speak,
but watch some games you taped from last season ? Especially one like
the Sugar Bowl that had several very talented players who will he high
picks in next months college Draft.
But this game showcases the tremendous array of talent the LSU Tigers have, along with an impressive ND QB.
Few comments about individual players -
For ND:
(1) Quinn is an excellent QB and we would be very fortuante to have him available to us at #8, knowing we have to start from scratch again to develop a young QB. Of course, don't really know what Kubiak, etc. think
of him ?
He has good arm strength, good accuracy and a reasonable quick release.
Poised with good foot speed and mobility. He can run fairly well and should function well in the WCO.
For LSU:
(1) Russell has a remarkable arm and is also very strong and athletic with good mobility, despite his enormous size. Rare talent with tremendous upside.
Gotta be top 3, top 5 at worst in this Draft. And of course could be #1.
(2) Bowe is an excellent WR with very good size ('bout AJs size), very good speed, good hands, strong. Rare combo in that he is fast enough to be deep threat, but also could be considered a possesion receiver. If we trade back to mid or late teens, this guy might be consideration and may be the #2 WR
in the Draft in spite of how highly rated some have Ted Ginn.
(3) The inside DLineman for the Tigers, Dorsey & Favorite, may be as good
as any DTs coming out this year. Tenacious with tremendous quickness.
But we will need to wait until '08 for these guys.
(4)Sorry LaRon Landry fans, but I still don't get it ?
He may have recorded an excellent 40 at the combine,
he hits hard, he hustles on every play, but I don't see the snap, the quickness, the fluid motion you'd expect in an elite DB.
I just don't see this guy with our top pick when one speculates, in a reasonably sort of way, some of the other choices we will likely have @ #8.

In that game Landry wasnt really challenged, and you shouldnt judge him from one game. He has been dominent all four years.

I just don't think enough of any safety to draft one with a top ten pick.

Landry with his speed, may be an exception. But I'm not feeling it, especially not if Peterson, Quinn, or even Nelson is available.

Try and watch the Auburn-LSU game. Landry can really hit.

In the video, there is a shot of him against the Razorbacks where you see Landry blocked into the scene, the WR looses his feet and Landry plants the RB solid. It is a pretty play.

Besides we have never had anyone close to a 4.3 at safety. Think of the delayed blitzs he could do. Watch the video, imagine him in steel blue and drool.

I wish i could re watch the sugar bowl. what was the one play where he blitzed, i think russell handed the ball off-or it was a reverse. Landry didn't make the TFL but kind of got juked but still helped out on the play...it was a surprise...

can anyone explain it better or know what i'm talking about? it's hard to remember..

Yeah I remember exactly. He didn't make the tackle but he slowed him up. He definitely should have made the tackle though.
