Direction the texans appear to be going

based on the free agent singnings i believe this is the way the texans are going and i woulld love to hear some feed back. ( if any spelling is wrong sorry i did not check but you get the idea)

I think the texans are eying khlob for the qb and i think theywant to do this in the 3rd round. i know you dont want to hear this but i think we are going to have david back next year.

as far as the rest of the draft with the additions of green, black, and clark. I think we will go defense with the first pick in one of these fashions.
1. landry fs, okoyi dt (again spelling not sure), alan dt or trade back pick up extra picks and still get nelson fs or hall cb

2nd i feel we are going to either target kalil c if available or gonzalez wr we could also if not picked up in first still go for meriweather fs

3rd we have qb khlob or one of the other projects

4th on we take bpa

I would not have a problem with any of these situations or players, and i for one am extreamly happy with what kubes and smith and the fo have done so far. I would love to see how everyone else feels about the draft and the picks.

and i am not a brady quinn fan or wasting a first pick on a qb much safer going with a less flashy impact player jmo.

go texans and i am hear win lose till the end ( of course i want to win):yahoo:

Great post. With all the offensive FA signings, it does look like the Texans are going to again select a defensive player with the number 8 pick. Landry would really blow up the secondary, and Okoye would create probably one of the most talented defensive lines in the league (Babin/Okoye/Demeco/Williams are all first round/first second-round picks).

I wish the Texans could take Kalil in the second round. I suspect that Cleveland or Arizona will snatch him up, though. Gonzales would be another great acquisition and fill the #2 wide receiver spot nicely. However, the Texans seem to nab linemen in the third round. I wouldn't be surprised if Datish or Staley comes to the Texans at that time.

I don't think the Texans will take a QB this year. Maybe next year, or Plummer may eventually fall through in a trade, but unless they take Quinn, I don't think any other quarterback will come here. FO will do what they want with Carr, but Sage is a competent back-up.

4th round and on, BPA? Good plan.

I wouldn't take Gonzales expecting him to be a number two reciever...I see him as more of a slot guy in this leauge...

Guess nobody looked at my post from last night...

no i did not but it was a good one looks like we are on the same page. i dont care what anyone says on espn, nfl network, or anywhere for that matter. i think we have made some great moves this offseason and have set ourself up for the draft to really get some impact players. there should be alot of talent at the positions we need now, and the draft is a great place to to build our future.

as far as Gonzoles i think you might be right he does run great routs and he had a better time at the combine than i thought he would. who would you guys like to get for wr the leathal number 2 we have always needed?

Sidney Rice if he's there in the second...

Jason Hill if he's there in the 3rd or fourth...

Agreed on Hill, I'll pass on Rice. I think Rice is a bit too raw. I realize anyone they draft is going to be raw....but Rice is really, really raw. Agreed there are a lot of guys not listed in the guru's top five who could with a minamal amount of coaching up could challange Walters for the #2. They don't have to reach. over 200 pounds, over six foot two inches tall, 4.5 range, good hands, good routes and smarts, willing and able blocker. A lot of guys on the board match or go beyond that that description.

I actually like Hill a lot more than Rice.

If I had my choice, I would like to have both of them, but that's too many players for one position.

My draft would look more like this:

Quinn or Nelson in the first,

Ryan Kalil in the Second,

and Jason Hill in the third....

Recent free agent signings insure the Texans will go defense in the first round.
The Texans need a dt and cb. Since there are only two highly rated dts this year I would go with one of them if available (Alan Branch or Amobi Okoye). In the second round I would go center Ryan Kalil-- if he is still on the board. The Texans need a center and he is too good to pass up. If he is gone then I would go with the best cb still on the board. The Texans should take a qb in the 3rd round and pick a couple wrs in later rounds.

the reciever pool seems to be prety deep this year and i trust the FO to get what we need, i would have to agree with the dt or cb or fs. I am a big big big fan of kalil. he would shore up or offensive line if everyone else i.e. spencer gets back to health, with our fa pick ups and last years draft the oline is looking good. like everyone has said we could just about take bpa almost any round and be upgrading or improving our team.:poker:
