AP still available at #8????

On ESPN they were saying that Cleveland could now pass on AP because of their recent signing of Jamal Lewis from the Ravens. I don't see Tampa, Arizona, Washington, or Minnesota going for him.

So if he is there at #8 do we still go for him even though we just signed Ahman Green?

jamal lewis is signed to a one-year contract. hardly an accurate reflection on their draft board.

Exactly. I won't say they won't draft Peterson, but it could mean that they're willing to get a RB later. nobody knows right now. It's all conjecture.

They could be hoping Bush is there in the 2nd.

Cleveland has a lot of options depending on who is there. Johnson, Russell, Quinn, Thomas, Peterson...trade down etc. They could very well take Peterson. If AP falls past them I could see Arizona, Minny, or Wash trading down with somebody...

If Peterson is there for us at 8...we should definitly consider him...he'd be more talented than any of our RB's. Him and Green would be awesome

I just saw on Yahoo sports that Mcgahee was traded to the Ravens for two draft choices this year and one next year. Look for the Bills to offer Cleveland a trade on draft day. I have to believe the Bills end up with AD.

I think the Bills will stay put and draft Lynch.

the bills signed corey dillon, if that affects anything.

Another ebsite reported Buff also signed Chris Brown. gives them 2 backs.

An odd thought: Tenn has now lost Henry and Brown, leaving them with only Lendale White. Bud loves the Houston factor (ie getting a hometown Houston guy to star for his team like Vince and rubbing our nose in it).

Does he make a move for Peterson? Moving up from 19 would be expensive, but a combo of Peterson and White would be very strong.

I don't see links for either signing.

Expect one or more of the top ten picks to be traded! We will not know who is available at #8 until draft day.

drafting another runningback will be ridiculous. Do you seriously want 7 runningbacks in our roster?

Ahman Green
Ron Dayne
Domanick Williams
Chris Taylor
Wali Lundy
Samkon Gado
AD?????????

No. Cut Domanick, Gado and Lundy or Taylor. Ron Dayne's still a free agent...he's not a Texan at the moment.

As of now, we have Ahman Green and a bunch of Question marks.

Ahman Green is our starter.
Ron Dayne- he was released (i hope we resign him)
Domanick Williams-will be released

Chris Taylor
Wali Lundy
Samkon Gado

I bet one of these guys is released and another is put on the practice squad..esp if dayne and williams arent on the team..and we get AP.

Peterson-Green both kinda starters...
Dayne-Taylor backups
Lundy-practice squad

Gado/Williams gone.

we wont take a rb even if ap is there....we use him as levearage and trade or we draft someone else......imo
There is no way Adrian Peterson falls to us at number eight. Calvin Johnson won't be there, nor Joe Thomas; Gaines Adams will be gone...and All Day will be All Gone.

Having said that, assuming that he's miraculously still available at that spot I hope it would take an offer-that-we-can't-refuse for us to also pass on him.

If Adrian Peterson is still around at #8, he is the BPA by a longshot and a dagger in the back of David Carr if Carr is dumped by the Texans before he gets even one chance to play-fake handing the ball off to Peterson and watching the defense, already stacked with eight on the line, bite.

It's a win-win situation. Well maybe win, win, lose. Two out of three ain't bad.

You take All Day with the number 8 pick regardless. He is the running back of the team's future and you DO NOT pass on that regardless of need. And you certainly do not take Brady Quinn in front of him either...

There, I said it and I meant it. Hope I don't get a negative rep for that...:snobord:

According to ESPN the Browns are shopping Droughns and with Lewis signing a one year deal you gotta figure that seals the deal for Peterson. I hope I am wrong but I thinks it just plain foolish to think Peterson would be available at 8. If one of the top 7 does not want him you have to figure someone will trade into a spot in front of us knowing we would tale him, its Murphys law and we are the Texans after all!

first with the mcgahee trade today nothing should be taken for granted...remember that cleveland only signed lewis to 1 year deal...and that with buffalo now needing a RB they never seem to shy away from making trades on draft day...they could easily trade their entire draft away for the chance to get AP...they could wait til the 7th pick to do so and we'd still be stuck on the outside looking in at peterson

is it possible that peterson could fall to the 8th spot...sure...unlikely...i have a hard time believing that if cleveland were to pass on him that another team like buffalo...like green bay...wouldn't trade up for him...and with that being said who's to say that a team like minnesota wouldn't take him anyways...or that if the lions trade with arizona that at the 5th pick they wouldn't take him

bottom line...it's the draft...expect the unexpected to happen...especially this year with so many teams scrambling for players...and with peterson and lynch being the only two solid all around RB's in this years draft

I would be pretty shocked if AD did fall to us. If he did, we run (no teleport) to the podium and draft him. This is the type of franchise player we need.

If he isn't there then go for Quinn. If that doesn't pan out, then grab Landry.

You do if you're system dictates that the RB position isn't a high priority. And...furhter, you have so many holes in your o-line, (lines in general) that the salary being paid to All Day would be negligable to the production over the length of the contract. Just saying there...Mcgahee is out of Buffalo for a reason there big guy, don't ya think ?

If we were close, one player away form a major, (think you know for a fact you're going to make the conference championship game)...then I would agree with you. All day would be a no brainer.

Under these circumstances, with this team, I don't think All Day is as big of a run to the poduim guy as a lot of you are making him out to be. My team and I'm the GM with this draft board...I try hard to move the pick for more day one choices. I stock pile the team with as much tallent as I can to avoid ever being in this position again. Can I get an Ahmen ? Quinn on the other hand...

Odd seeing I have been hearing that Lewis and Droughns make a lethal combo of both power and speed. And that Cleveland had no interest in trading him. Lewis has a 1yr deal and will be picked back up if he plays well. And thats off of CLEVELAND and other NFL sites.
