Texans only 4 Options!

I've been going over the possibilities on draft day and while their extremely numerous I came up with four option.
Option 1
1. Adrian Peterson
2. Micheal Griffin, Chris houston, Marcus Macaully
Explanation- If AP falls the texans won't think twice even with ahman green in the fold. With an Offensive playmaker already in the fold the texans will than look to upgrade their seconday at either safety or Cornerback. If the texans go with this option look for a OL, WR, QB in rounds 3-5.
Option 2
1. Brady Quinn
2. Anthony Gonzalez, Sidney Rice,
Explanation- This option is only viable if brady quinn falls and the texans feel like he's a pro-bowl quarterback in the future. If they pick him he likely won't start right away and will sit behind Sage. With brady starting out on the bench the texans will be desperate to get another offensive player maker to upgrade the offense. WR just jumps out at this postion with such good depth one good one will fall.
Option 3
1. Jammal Anderson, Alan Branch, Laron Laundry
2. Joe staley, Ryan Kali, Sidney rice
Explanation- With the Texans going defense it all but cements an offensive pick for Rd 2. I think if this situation occurs than the texans will look for a offensive playmaker such as a wide receiver. If alot of the receiver go in round 1 than some good OL will fall.
Option 4
1. Amobi Okoye, Leon Hall, Tedd Guinn, Reggie Nelson
2. Charles Johnson, aaron Sears, Dwayne Bowe, Micheal Griffen
2. Ryan Kali, Anthony gonzlez, Ben Grubbs.
Explanation- Texans decide to trade down allowing them to pick up another 2nd rounder. Here the texans have a choice to fill 3 of these four needs WR,OL,DL,Secondary in the first 2 rounds allowing them to draft a developmental quarterback in the 3.

I wrote this b/c these are the only real options that I could think of for the first round Picks. The second round possibilities are endless I just wrote them in so that you could get a feel for what the texans may look at depending on their first round pick.
@ 39 I really only see OL, WR, FS, CB, DE being a possibility. The real value at that pick could be OL,WR,FS. I don't think any first round DE or Cb will fall and warrant a better pick than say a Joe Staly or a Robert meacham or Micheal Griffen.

IF AD is available, and the Texans pass on him in favor of Laron Landry, would that be more difficult to understand than the 7 teams that would have passed on him... with 4 of those teams also going with defensive players.. at least one DT??

Seriously, would we be the only stupid team out there, or would all 8 teams be just as stupid??

Are you assuming that DE Gaines Adams will not drop to #8, because if he is there he would be another very worthy pick in that spot?

at the moment I get the feeling that your 3rd option might be the direction the Texans take (gotta throw Okoye in there too)

Explanation- Defensive lineman is a huge need & the Texans should have the choice from three of the top prospects to compliment Mario. with Moulds departed WR is a need that needs someone who has the speed to stretch the field & be a playmaker oppossite AJ. if they like the WR choice in the 2nd might just be content to wait til the 3rd/4th round to address OL & fit CB or FS in between.

well, our biggest holes are the secondary, DL, and OL, as stated already. we need to find the best combo.

the BPA in round 1 would be Landry. You could make your argument for Branch or Okoye, but Landry is truly elite while there are questions about Branch's speed/agility/pass rush and Okoye's size at only 6'2. Landry has the least questions about his size or ability. But looking from a draft standpoint, the draft is stronger in defensive backs than DL or OL. but still, i think the correct choice is Landry.

In round 2, Kalil should be long gone. Pretty much every team picking in front of us needs OL help as well, so I dont think Staley or Ugoh will be available. If Staley is there, i snatch him up, but I'm really not counting on it. So I think we should look at other players, specifically CB's and DL. DT's available would be Tank, Pitcock, and Harrell most likely. DE's would be Abiamiri, Crowder, Moses, and Johnson. CB's are Ross, Wright, Mccauley, and Hughes. There are questions about Moses and Johnson and how one affects the other's production, so I'll cross them off. Crowder is a solid player, but probably not what we're looking for in a DE. Abiamiri is the best of the DE's available IMO.

Mccauley sucked last year and Hughes doesnt have the physical tools/gifts that we need to pair up with Dunta. Ross and Wright are similar in that they lack experience but have the raw tools that scouts love. Ross had the better on field production, but Wright had much better measurables. Their difference in size is pretty negligible, so Ross and Wright are the best available CB's in round 2.

At DT, Pitcock is a space eater and run stuffer. He doesnt have much upside or pass rush ability, so he's off. Same thing with Tank except he's even bigger. Harrell stands alone, but there are questions about his durability and overall ability. His production doesnt match his tools, but he's the best there.

In round 2, my board looks like: Abiamiri, Ross/Wright, Harrell

Round 3 gets interesting, cuz you dont have a good idea on who will be there. I'll let someone else fill you in on round 3 prospects if they can jump in on it. But if we go by Landry and Abiamiri, we should be looking at:

OT, DT, and CB in the 3rd...or maybe even QB.

round 2 WR's: Rice, Hill, Davis, Gonzo.

honestly, i dont wanna draft a WR in round 2. it's the deepest position in the draft...by far. none of the round 2 WR's are THAT much better than the WR's that you can get in round 3 unless Meachem falls, but he will go round 1. I like Mike Walker in the 4th.

that would be a nice draft. I think I would prefer Frye in the 5th...maybe throw Sepulveda in there in the 7th if he's still available. Great insight, Htown

Well, odds are that Peterson and Quinn are gone before we pick (along with Russell, CJ, Thomas). If one of them are there, then AD is a no-brainer and Quinn is still a topic to discuss (some love him - some hate him - whatever, the GM will decide - but I am going to assume he is gone for now).

So, if those 5 are gone, we are looking at a few DL (DE Anderson, Adams, DT Branch, DT Okoye) that are projected as studs. A couple of FS studs in Nelson and Landry. And, there are a few others that would be worht considering but are not top 5 picks (cb Houston, OT Brown, etc.)

So, unless we deal down, the "normal value" pick would be one of the DL - because FS is a position that is worth less than DL. Plus, you can fill it on the cheap (low pick or low money). But, a true stud FS can have a huge effect - see Reed, Polamalu, AWilson. On the other hand, spending a high pick on one, like Sean Jones in Washington, can set you back when he is only average depsite being all world in measurables. Finally, FS is 5 to 6 deep ths year (Landry and Nelson on the first, Griffin and Meriweather in the 1st or 2nd, and 2 others that should do really well project before end of 3rd, names are slipping my mind at the moment weddle/jackson?).

So, I predict:
1st - Adams (if gone then Anderson) - Get a DE and let Weaver play more tackle as needed)

2nd - BPA - but I think they go D again - a CB if a really good one slides which i doubt - Griffin or Meriweather if either is there and possibly Weddle - - or OLB if value is there (might trade up a little to get Polu?).

thought I should just add some info for you guys about projected 3rd pick CB Eric Wright, UNLV. thought he looked outstanding @ the combine posting elite numbers but looked even better during drills (excellent hands & reaction to ball flight) had some personel issues (charges later dropped) but had to transfer from USC after a promising freshman season where he earned Freshman All-Pac 10 Conference honors, played in thirteen games, starting at weak-side cornerback vs. Arizona, Notre Dame, UCLA and Oklahoma...Came off the bench at strong-side cornerback in the Orange Bowl vs. Oklahoma...Recorded 33 tackles (27 solos) with two sacks for minus 13 yards... Recovered one fumble and intercepted two passes for 22 yards in returns...Also batted away six passes.

when he transfered he had to sit out a year, then he got hurt this past season but deceided to come out early anyway. he is raw but has all the skills your looking for, Eric looks the man-child part, very mature & developed for his age. he should still go somewhere in the 2nd rd. but if he is there in the 3rd he would be an excellent pick. I have a real strong feeling about him that he may wind up being the best cb in the draft, or at least considered among the best by the time its all said & done

Putting players in the second round is a total guess you can only pick players that you feel fill a need and is good value at 39. I mainly did it b/c in the first round those are the only options I see.

Adams would be the perfect yin to mario's yang. move weaver inside and on some downs put babin at opposite DE and move mario to DT alongside Adams.

I think there are gonna be a lot of defensive talent available at the 2nd Round. Lets continue to build our defense through the draft and try and get our offense up to high school level.

Given AD will be long gone at 8, I have to be pretty dang pleased if we draft either Okoye or Landry.

Nope as with the habit on the board option five was ignored...go up and get the OLT. After five years it's an easy thingy to over look. Joe Thomas would look prety good here. Levi doesn't sparkle like the rest. But he won't be there rond two and he's still rated the second best tackle on the board.

Eric Wright DB Wright (5-10 5/8, 192) stood on all the marks he posted during the Combine (40s in 4.36 and 4.37; short shuttle in 4.23; three-cone drill in 6.93; 36½-inch vertical jump; 10-foot-3 broad jump; 17 lifts). He did only drills on campus, and the scouts say he was absolutely fantastic. Wright did have off-field problems when he attended Southern California that prompted him to transfer to UNLV. This wasn't confirmed, but the word was Kansas City coach Herm Edwards was going to have a personal meeting with him.

if I were a betting man I'd wager Wright doesnt make it out of the 2nd rd. fellow Texans fans this is a hot cb. I've been watching as many of them as I could this past season & he is the most impressive, unless you want to count safetys (Landry & Nelson). all the tools
