Practice Squad
Smith and Kubiak setting the team up to trade down a few spots. With the green signing (a good one), it leaves the texans with some options being that next years RB draft class is so deep. I now believe that Landry (with his combine performance) will also be picked before us leaving us with these draft trade down options..take the poll and let me know what you think

Draft Scenario 1

1. Amobi Okoye DT 6-2 305 Sr. Louisville
2. Joe Staley OL 6-5 300 Sr. Central Michigan
2. Brandon Merriweather S 6-0 188 Sr. Miami
3. Drew Stanton QB 6-3 230 Sr. Michigan St
4. Quincy Black LB 6-3 227 Sr. New Mexico
5. Rhema McKnight WR 6-2 212 Sr. Notre Dame
6. John Talley CB 5-11 180 Sr. Duke
7. Daniel Supelveda P 6-3 227 Sr. Baylor

Draft Scenario 2

1. Levi Brown T 6-5 328 Sr. Penn St
2. Daymeion Hughes CB 6-2 188 Sr. Cal
2. Brandon Merriweather S 6-0 188 Sr. Miami
3. Drew Stanton QB 6-3 230 Sr. Michigan St
4. Johnnie Lee Higgins WR 6-0 180 Sr. UTEP
5. Clifton Ryan DT 6-2 302 Sr. Michigan St
6. Anthony Waters LB 6-3 240 Sr. Clemson
7. Joel Filani WR 6-3 216 Sr. Texas Tech

Draft Scenario 3

1. Reggie Nelson DB 6-1 193 Jr. Florida
2. Joe Staley OL 6-5 300 Sr. Central Michigan
2. Daymeion Hughes CB 6-2 188 Sr. Cal
3. Drew Stanton QB 6-3 230 Sr. Michigan St
4. Quincy Black LB 6-3 227 Sr. New Mexico
5. Clifton Ryan DT 6-2 302 Sr. Michigan St
6. Joel Filani WR 6-3 216 Sr. Texas Tech
7. Daniel Supelveda P 6-3 227 Sr. Baylor

I like option 2. The first 4 picks address needs and all except Drew would have a shot at stepping in immediatly. Especially Levi Brown. If David or whoever starts this year pans out then being faced with a San Diego type QB decision is not a very bad thing. I am all for getting a tackle in the first round. That along with Green in the back field being, quoting Green

"I’ll put it like this: I’m going to be his Kevlar back there stopping the blitz.”

could go along way for who ever is under center.

I voted for Scenario 2. I would really like for us to draft LaRon Landry at 8, but for this situation I voted Scenario 2. A #2 CB and a FS are the biggest needs, IMO.

My first two rounds would look like:

1 - LaRon Landry 2nd choice: Amobi Okoye
2 - Justin Blalock 2nd choice: Reggie Nelson 3rd choice: Meachem/Rice

I agree that the Ahman signing sets them up for a trade down. But, they might wait to make sure they can't get Quinn first.

If the deal down, taking the best FS/CB or Levi depending on value and where they end up.

I would just like to see Kolb in one of those scenarios, irrespective of what happens with Carr, Ramsey, Plummer - whatever.

I picked #2 it's been 5 years without an anchor at LT let's try something new this year and pick the anchor!

ahahaha all your choices pick drew stanton as QB? What about Kubiak how he was impressed with Kevin Kolb QB skills at the combine? What about Brady Quinn at number 8? What about Jemarcus Russel falling to number 8 snce his stock fell at the combine.

Stanton is one of the guys that I feel is going to be a stud in a few years. Hes got the size, speed and arm strength. You could probably trade out certain players but that just comes down to personal preference. My question was Which draft do you like...but it should have asked which draft do you think will help the Texans get better faster.

Russell will not fall to the 8 spot

I thoght Tim Couch has said he wants to try to make a come back to the NFL

:stirpot:

Well there you have it...

2007 Texans Offense:
LT - Tony Boselli
LG - Chester Pitts
C - McKinney / Flannagan (between these two guys, we'll get a full season)
RG - Domingo Graham
RT - Jimmy Herndon
TE - Owen Daniels
QB - Tim Couch
RB - Ahman Green
FB - Jameel Cook
WR - Andre
WR - Corey Bradford

Look out play-offs. :gun:

Since you put it that way... Scenario #1. I know our need for LT, but I really like Amobi Okoye (DT 6-2 305 Sr. Louisville). With his age and his character, (I saw a really cool peice on him) he could be a contributor for a long time. The only thing I wold want is Kolb in lieu of Stanton. Nothing against Stanton, but I have seen Kolb play in person several times over the last four years and I really like what he brings...

I picked the 1st scenario. I think it is by far the best one and some of the more realistic picks. Just not sure if some of the players will fall that far. Sepulveda may be taken as early as the 5th round, and Stanton make not make it to the 3rd. Overall though, I liked those selections alot, and hope it turns out like that for us on draft day. JMHO!

Option two but instead of Filani if Supelveda is there i'd take him or Medlock. Good drafts either way though. I like the idea of being able to address the LT, FS, and CB in three shots.

What I like about each of these scenarios is that the first three rounds are used to bolster the two weakest areas on the Texans team - offensive line and defensive secondary. They all sound good.

I think I like your scenario 2 best. It gives the Texans a solid left tackle while adding a CB and a Safety on the first day.
