Rumor: Trade for #3 pick

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that both the Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans are interested in the Browns third overall draft choice. The Falcons want Calvin Johnson and the Texans are after Adrian Peterson.

Apparently, the Browns would want Matt Schaub, the 10th pick overall, and a first rounder in 2008 from the Falcons. The Texans have Carr, the 8th pick overall, and additional picks to offer.

....hm.

That could be really cool. But I sure hope we have some ideas for quarterback if we did decide to do that.

I mean im fine with Rosenfels starting I suppose, but I dont want that to be all we have available to us. Behind Rosenfels we would have who? Porter? I dont know that he is ready to start in the NFL.

Let Atlanta trade up to #3 so they can draft Calvin Johnson. The Browns would then pick after us at #10, and barring a trade up by another team, Adrian Peterson could fall right into our lap.

I agree that sitting still if atlanta makes that trade is the best bet. It leaves a greater chance to get a monster RB.

Why don't we try and trade with Detroit? They just got a starting tackle and RB from Denver in that trade, so might be willing to move down. Kitna is getting old, they could use Carr. Then we could even go after Joe Thomas if we wanted.

FOr the same reason they won't draft Calvin Johnson.... they aren't going to make a mistake like they did previosuly by drafting another WR. With regards to a QB, they already had a QB from the 2002 draft that couldn't get it done in Harrington. They don't need to bring in Carr once they have been through Harrington. They are essentially the same player.

agreed. based on that article, this would be the smart move. One way or the other, we'll get AD, or Quinn... staying put is the right way to go.

I have a hard time seeing the Texans trading up to get Adrian Peterson.

I could see them trading up to get Joe Thomas (if Detroit were to pass), but not for Carr and picks.

While, I will agree that neither has performed in the NFL, to say they are essentially the same player tells me you must have never seen Harrington play.

I would think the Texans would have Levi Brown rated higher, if not as high, as Joe Thomas... Nothing against JT, but for what we run, I think Brown is a better fit.

Meaning Harrington is the better QB right?? He has more play making ability, a higher football IQ, and a quicker release.

David has a strong arm, and a good set of wheels.
