Kiper's new board. Surprises!

Any Kiper board makes me bored. At what point do the lack of results outweigh the brand name?

Its the hair...its all bout the hair.....

I still have LSU junior QB JaMarcus Russell going with the first overall pick to Oakland. However, the biggest buzz could center around Oklahoma junior RB Adrian Peterson (6-1½, 223 pounds). His workout numbers at the NFL combine should look something like this: 4.37 in the 40-yard dash; 38-inch vertical leap; and eight percent body fat. I have Peterson going to Cleveland, which will have either the third or fourth pick, depending on a coin flip tiebreaker with Tampa Bay; but there also could be several teams interested in trading up to get Peterson.

If Peterson does go to Cleveland, Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn could slide to the Dolphins with the ninth pick. The reason Quinn would fall to Miami? Teams picking after Cleveland (possibly Tampa Bay, Arizona, Washington, Minnesota and Houston) don't need a quarterback. You could make a case for the Texans or Vikings to draft Quinn, but I don't expect that to happen.

I really hate reading this...

Our suppossed fear is Cleveland and someone trading up. I just do not see Cleveland taking a RB since they have addressed offensive skill position players in the first round in 2004 and 2005. With Bentley done and Crennel holding on by a thread they go Thomas or Branch since their DL and OL picks in the 1st and 2nd rounds are not with the team any longer - Brown, Warren and Faine. If Crennel goes pretty he is going Quinn in my opinion.

nice call. i think thomas to the Browns is a more (not that it wasnt before hand) legitimate option now that Bentley is rumored to be missing most/all of 2007. a thomas/kalil top two picks would do wonders for them.

yea, something i'd love the texans to have Thomas and Kalil.

Anyone have Kiper's latest mock from last year? I want to see how accurate he is (I really dont think he is any good at this but is hyped by ESPN).

If I recall correctly, Kiper's final mock is usually the most accurate out of anyone. He just has better resources and "in the know." He doesn't actually scout.

What if we trade up with the Bucs packaging Carr with the 8th plus another mid round pick? If the Bucs win the coin toss and we really want Peterson (which is what John Clayton is reporting) I could see us doing this.

if they are hot after carr they might. the pick would likely have to be the third rounder.

Great post. The Browns are in the same position the Texans were in last year. Do they accept their mediocre running back and quarterback and get the line help they need, or do they bite on the big name? While selecting AP or Quinn makes great headlines, is it really a step forward for the Browns when clearly a Branch or Thomas would do wonders for the team? Personally, I think Crennel takes Thomas or Branch.

mocks aren't really indicative of draft knowledge. not at all, in fact. i had a better mock than kiper, but...he knows more than me, end of story.

drafting in the trenches worked for the NYJ. they have an OK running game (washington/houston) and a solid QB. the additons of ferguson and mangold did wonders. given that they almost have to take an o-lineman with the loss of bentley (again), the addition of thomas and someone like kalil (as mentioned in zierlien's draft blog) would make the most immediate impact IMHO. you still have RB's like mcfadden and slaton coming out next year, or someone like jamal lewis on the free agent maket this year.

If they go with Branch or Thomas how does the rest of the picks go through 8 in your view? To me what would be great is Quinn and Peterson avail @ #8 and we get offered a deal by Miami to swap so the could get the QB. We get Peterson and a 5th (?).

In my opinion AP falls to us at 8 unless someone trades up due to the fact all of the other teams have recently signed RB's to healthy contracts.

lol @ "lack of results." what results are you expecting? he knows the draft better than anyone, and he gives his opinions on players and teams to a national audience. there's no "results" here.

Kiper takes all the info of a player and what a teams needs are and BPA and does a mock on this info. But players move up and down in rankings almost on a daily bases. So to say his mocks are worhtless is just flat out not understanding how difficult it is to predict what a team will do.

Look at Chicago for instance. They had a very good defense in 2005 and in the 2006 draft they went almost exclusive with defensive players. Then you have detroit, who can't draft worth a crap. Also, Houston with casserly and capers not wanting to fix the o-line for 5 freakin years.

Branch at #20?!

We should just give our card to the Vikes to take up for us when they make their pick.

Branch is a beast and should go top 10 easy. I dont see LaRon going higher than the safety's from last year. #6 is Sean Taylor range. Thats messed up to put LaRon there.

Detroit is getting Thomas.

While I think there is a great chance they do, I'm still not so sure. They resigned their LT a huge contract to be their franchise Lt of the future. I'm not sure if they'd draft Thomas just to move him to RT or move the other guy. I wouldn't be surprised if they go with someone else.

They could very well go with Calvin Johnson if Oakland passes on him and takes russell.(i know another receiver!!! but look out our track record with the d-line and we may get another this year)

When you say that, that #2 pick looks sucky!!!

I agree the only wart Kiper has is he will lock on to a guy and can't get off of him if HE truley believes in the guy. Other than that he's pretty accurate.

I would say agents ring him up a little also. He has a lot of contacts, except for the Irsays.

Has the Dallas guy Gosslin posted anything yet ?

And Who pray tell did he have in the eight slot ?
