Quarterback Ratings...Yahoo Sports

No thank to drafting a QB.

We have too many other needs to address to get any of these guys.

I would thank that if we go QB in this draft it will be another late round pick up like Porter.

We've got Van Pelt, & Porter........... why waste a pick on a QB at all??

Interesting thoughts regarding this years draftable QB's.

Any of these guys be a candidate for a rookie QB we could groom behind, let's say Rosenfels or Plummer?

:hmmm:

Don't let these lemon faces fool ya Texansgirl. To Answer your question and not to dismise it or quash a legitimate question out of hand.....

Brady Quinn. There is a chance that he could be available with the eight pick if the draft tracks that the skilled guys at running back, Wide Reciever and Defensive end go off the board in the first six picks. The key to getting Quin is what the Browns do at three or four (sould be a coind flip next week at the combine to settled exactly where Tampa Bay and Cleveland picks for sure. They are currently tied. ) . If they take Petterson, the running back...that makes Brady Quinn in paly for the Texans.
He is not John Elway. But he is a highly skilled, Athletic QB who drug an over acheiving Notre Dame team to a ten win season and he has study two years under Charlie Weiss , the former New England Patriots offensive co-ordinator.
He has value and upside. But he'll have to make it as a student of the game, much like Joe Montana did. He doesn't have a rocket arm. What he does have is brains. As Montana proved sometimes in the right circumstances that is enough.

Trent Edwards....The QB from Stanford has been a red cross his whole college career. He does have a decent arm and he has the athletism to run Kubiaks offense.

Drew Straton is a lot like Farve coming out. Not that he has Farve's arm but he is a very competitive athlectic guy who'll try anything and everything to drag his team to a victory. He also has the skill set to run this offense.

Jon Beck. He is a little old as most BYU guys are coming out, 26 I believe. He could be had with a day two pick.

I do not consider Kevin Kolb a legitimate canidate for the Texans at all. The first thing is he is so much like Dave Ragone...it's scary. The first guy Kubiak cut on the squad when he came here...was Dave Ragone. I don't see with Kelvin Kolbs skill set that he'll be a viable option at all for Kubiak and the Texans. Some folks do. Kolb has trouble throwing on the run and is highly inaccurate throwing on the run. He is a true pocket passer.

Outside of the first two prospect on the board, Jamarcus Russell and Brady Quinn, the rest of the QB prospects in the pile will have to sit and learn , improve their game, for at least a year before they'll be ready to handle the speed of the NFL game.

Hope that helped.
