That looks pretty similar in a few places to the one I posted earlier.

The only things I dont like:

Lions getting a QB. I dont think they will but I honestly wouldnt be shocked if they did so I dont have a big problem with that.

I think the Cowboys get Griffin before they get a CB. He can play either safety position and that is their biggest need.

I like Justin Harrell more than Tyler but I can understand the pick since he was out all year with an injury.

I really like the Branch pick. We seem to be the only people on this board who think he could go that early.

I have questions about the Vikings picking a RB after signing Chester last year to a 14.1 million dollar contract.

I dont like the Texans pick.
I DO like the Dwayne Bowe to the titans pick.

Overall great looking mock xtruroyaltyx.

I think Branch could go that high. But I think Okoye is going to leapfrog him before the draft.

There is talk of anthony Henry moving to FS and A Glenn starting at CB. Which means they would draft a CB a little later in the draft to groom. Probably 2nd round. IMO they will draft Oline in the 1rst.

Don't see Alan Branch that high and iffy on the Detroit pick. Also, don't see the Vikings drafting A.D. One of those teams in the top 5 will trade down. As for the Texans I'd rather see a Reggie Nelson or LaRon Landry if A.D. is not available. But hey that's why it's called a mock draft.

What if Okoye blows Branch away at the Combine? Do you think he will jump ahead of him in the draft? And, would the Texans then pick Branch at the #8, or do you think they would then go in another direction? :hmmm: Just food for thought.

Everybody keeps jumping on the Okoye bandwagon.

That's ok cuz he is good. Really good.

But I think Branch is the one that is gonna blow people away at the combine.

He is a converted DE and I expect him to run the fastest 40 of all the DT's.

I also expect him to do more reps on the bench press than any other defensive player in the draft.

If the past is any indication, after Branch's combine he will shoot up like Mario did last year.

I've been hyping him and Woodley all year but either nobody believes me or nobody cares.

If both are there for the texans to take...and our staff decides they want one of them which would we take...i honestly don't know. what do both bring to the table?

From what i've heard to get a general idea:
Branch-Big dude...big body, plug up the middle, stop the run through the middle.

Okoye-a lot lighter and quicker. would rush up the middle causing the qb to move side by side.

Do we need branch to stop the run and will the ends have an easier time getting pressure? or do we need okoye to go up the middle forcing the qb outside and letting the ends get to him and sack him.

If this thinking is off or too general let me know...cuz i'd like to know more of what each one brings to the table and which one would be better for us; it may be different for another team.

I agree with a couple other people that have posted and said that QB to Detroit doesn't seem like the most likely thing at this point, and I don't think they'd take Russell. If Quinn was there I think they'd consider it, but Russell isn't as much of the Martz-type QB, so if both are there I think Quinn would be the pick.

Alan Branch doesn't make much sense for the Buccaneers. They need to get talented youth on their DLine, but their whole defense is based around getting pressure by just their front 4 linemen, and that isn't Branch's strength. If they go DT, Okoye would make more sense in their system, or else Gaines Adams or Jamaal Anderson would also make more sense. Branch is a talented player and should easily be a top 10 pick, but he isn't a great fit for Detroit and Tampa, among others.

I also don't see the Vikings going with Peterson. They just gave Chester Taylor a lot of money, he put up 1200 rushing yards for them this year, and he is only 27 years old, not their biggest need by any means.

I don't know that Ted Ginn is the type of WR that the Patriots would be looking for, especially with Rice on the board.

I'm also not sure Pitcock is the best fit for a 3-4 defense for the Jets, I think he's more of a penetrator than a gap clogger and an ideal fit for a 4-3, but maybe he could work there.

Where is the Bears pick?

Other than that, this is a pretty solid mock. Good work.

This depends on the rest of the team. Personaly, I believe we should move Weaver inside to DT and have either Babin, Peek, or a new WDE opposite Mario who can rush the passer (something Weaver is not good at). Since Weaver is not that big right now and might struggle against the run, if it comes down to Branch vs Okoye, you might be tempted to pick Branch to sure up the run D and hope the rest of the D-line can get to the QB.

I think Alan Branch would fit best in a 3-4 as RDT.

Amobi Okoye is too young to limit his options, he could possibly play NT in the 3-4 when he adds weight or interior 4-3 tackle.

Okoye weighed in at 287 lbs. at the Senior Bowl last week and said in an interview that he played last season around 295, so he'd need to add some considerable weight to play 3-4 NT. If he gains 10-15 lbs. he could be a good 3-4 DE or a 4-3 DT, he'd need to add an additional 10 lbs. or so onto that to play NT in a 3-4, and I don't see that being his ideal position at all. I don't know that he'd want to play at that size and it would be a waste of his athleticism and penetrating ability.

So MK, are you saying he is better suited to playing DE in a 3-4 and 4-3 at his current weight? Also, what about his height? He is listed at 6'1". Isn't that kinda short for an ideal DE?

Personally, if we take him, I hope he gains the 10 lbs. and they keep him at DT. I think he is better suited there, and I don't like the idea of moving Weaver inside. He is only listed at 280 lbs. and I don't think he could take the pounding for a whole season. Thoughts?

IMO, height is overrated for D-lineman.

Yea it's nice if they have it but it's not a necessity.

The shorter you are, the better leverage you can get, especially if you have some strength in the lower body, which I'm betting Okoye does.

Okoye's ideal fit would be as a DT in a 4-3 system, that would give him more of a chance to use his athleticism than he would get in a 3-4. I don't think he's especially suited to play DE in a 4-3, maybe a SDE but he's kind of short to be playing DE. He could play a DE in a 3-4, but he's kind of short for that too and I think he's athletic enough that he'd be somewhat wasted in a 3-4 system, in a 4-3 he can get after the QB pretty well while in a 3-4 he's going to be stonewalled upfront more often and his primary role in that system would be to occupy blockers so blitzing LBs can get thru. IMO that would be an ideal role for Alan Branch, but not Okoye. Okoye is definitely not fit for a 3-4 NT unless he wants to gain 40+ lbs., but again that would be a waste of his athleticism, Branch could play 3-4 NT though.

I personally don't like Weaver at DE, he gets little to no pass rushing pressure out there. Unfotunately he is a little undersized to play DT full time and may have trouble holding up there, he isn't really an ideal fit for our system, but at this point I'm more concerned about our pass rush than our run defense, unless we're looking to blitz a lot more next year which it doesn't sound like they want to have to do. Hopefully we'll see more 3-4 looks out of our defense next year, we can handle that with a line of Mario, Payne, and Weaver with Babin, Orr, Peek (if resigned), and/or a new acquisition at OLBs, but that remains to be seen.

Thanks for the insight! :ok:

Okoye is only 19 years old. & he isn't done growing. So the extra 10 pounds he might gain in the next year or two might be as natural as the weight he carries now. He says he played at 290 last year, but he's been listed as high as 317... So I think what ever team takes him, will have the versatility to mold him into whatever they want.

at 6'1" you're right, and he is better suited to playing on the inside........ even though your taller DEs struggle to play low, I think 6'3" should be the minimum to play on the edges......... but that's just me.
